30+ years playing here… my suggestion to intermediate guitarist who are stuck in this rut of soloing, is to watch this video twice, and then save it for future reference. So much good advice
Hey Claus, I´m playing for 20yrs., self-taught, huge petrucci & alt.pick-fan. I watched so so many channels on YT over the years, tried so many things, pickslanting f.e. felt awkward and un-free. I never found a working approach to get faster. Until I found your channel. And I can tell you, the way you talk about practising with dedicated focus on the small picking movements, playing them slow and concentrating on these tiny movements was just bang on the right way for me and helped me a TON! I sat there and was like meditating xD Since then my right hand finally feels like "It knows" the strings. Thanks soo much Claus, you´re doing the right thing! ;) greetings from germany
Thank you very much for Very inspiring lesson. I really want to jump to grab my electric guitar, unfortunately I am out of town, in Pacitan South coast of East Java, facing Indian Ocean. Cheers from Indonesia.
Great video, Claus, and great explanation of how and why. I've heard others talk about this subject before, but it often came across like some kind of zen puzzle. You make it clear
Claus your a genius in coming up with musical systems and patterns the best I've ever seen on TH-cam I want u to go to heaven and like you said in one of your videos life is short and if you look around it's crazy and getting shorter by the day
I have to say one thing.. and it's worked for me.. (It may be advanced, but years of practice taught me this) TIP: if you play a wrong note, just play it again a couple times, it sounds like it belongs, then resolve it TIP: if you play a wrong note, a correct one, is always one fret up, or one fret down TIP: Land on chord tones of the chord you are improvising over. if you miss the note, slide into it (up or down) whammy into them and then do it again, it'll sound like it's intended TIP: Listen to the background, Feel it. hear in your head the note you are going to play next (must) TIP: Learn and Listen and sing what you are playing on your neck, hum it, before long you'll think of a note, and you'll just land there .. really. players learning tend to just play, and not listen TIP: if you want to learn someone's solo, you first must be able to sing the solo acapella, (without music), or while you're listing to that solo being played and you'll get it and learn it faster. (sing or hum it like no one is listening) If you can sing a solo, you will play it, feel it, and slow down TIP: Know when NOT to play any Notes.. a constant flurry of notes, without breaks and inflection and feel will sound like you're practicing scales, and sequences, with no synchronicity with the chord progression. Learn to play inside key, before you challenge yourself to play outside key.. TIP: don't repeat things more than 3 times, it gets boring to the ear, instead, vary it. Song forms like A B A C A B (yes, that is the meaning of the song too.. in that form) do that in song form, do that in your solos, break them up so that you have A phrase, B phrase, A.. C.. A.. B.. phrases.. Make those tips your mantra
man it really does "just happen" once i figured out rhythm it got easier and easier i got the course...Origin 2.0...and its put me on a whole nother level...

Are you a part time chimney sweep too or did your significant other hit you with some cheap ass fake tan ?! 😂😅 Great content as always ! 🤘😎
It could be the over edited video... A lot of editors change skin tone. Or a fake tan haha
Haha thank you 😄
Don't forget to practice your "guitar face"!
Haha yeah exactly 😄
He's got "guitar face" down. We need to see more Rock Moves 🪨 and 🧻
To be honest I dont think my solos do always sound the same, so I dont know where you got that from really.
