To even think of owning something that came out of Rick Baker’s studio, would just blow my mind! It’s sad that the materials used can’t withstand the test of time, because seeing Gizmo move would have been awesome! The attention to detail allowed us to believe there could actually be a real Gizmo. What a great prop, and such a classic couple of movies!
I can't even explain just how much childhood memories this little Gizmo has brought flooding back. Thank you for sharing and please keep em coming. everyone keep yourselves and love ones safe and healthy
And Howie Mandel using that voice to get himself *sooo* many jobs. Off the top of my head, I remember him using it for Gizmo, Skeeter from Muppet Babies, and for Bobby from Bobby's World. And there's probably more.
I love this Mr. Savage's knowledge, and energetic enthusiasm for everything he experiences with props and building them! His joy for the stuff we've always geeked out about is endearing and magnetic. I hope he continues this and lives long and prospers.
I love Gremlins, and I agree, this animatronic Gizmo puppet was well preserved, I am surprised that it kinda looks brand new especially after a few decades of storage. And I gotta give Rick Baker mad props for doing it so well we could mistake it for a real, breathing creature.
Adam has to be one of the luckiest people on the planet, all the cool props he gets to see and touch, the behind the scenes things he gets to see, and the SPFX prop makers he meets. WOW!
A cool trivia fact about Gremlins: The actor who played the father, Hoyt Axton, was also a singer, guitar player, songwriter, and he wrote "Joy To The World" a big hit song for the band Three Dog Night. Plus other songs for other folks, and for himself. A talented guy. Like Rick Baker and his team of craftsmen. That puppet of Gizmo shows, carefully, all the work those folks did.
Damn...that's a prop I'd really love to have. Building gremlins as a teenager was my introduction to puppet-making, foam-building and latex. Thanks for sharing! I have my own home-built Gizmo here in the studio.
I agree, I still prefer practical effects. Today's CGI is a great tool but, for me, super-slick, frenetic action sequences (I'm talking to you MARVEL) are no longer interesting to watch. Well made, well manipulated, and well photographed props, models and puppets (and real stunts) will always be more fun to watch. It truly is an art form and a dying craft.
out of all the props shown by Tested over the years, this has to be one of my favorites. Gizmo is the subject of many an injoke within my family. Oh, the things I would buy if I had the money....this would definitely be one of them. *sigh*
As a kid in the '80s I was constantly drawing Gizmo or writing stories about him. Even made up a Miss Gizmo. Seeing this, even though it's not the original, made my day.
If I had ever won the lottery, or had cash just piled up, I would have either owned this piece or gone to Rick Baker myself and made him an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
I remember helping to run Wonderfest in Louisville KY back I think around 1996. Chris Walas was a guest, and during the show people would donate things for a raffle with proceeds going to children's AIDS foundation. Chris Walas donated a bunch of props, including an animated gizmo in a barbie car, a couple of full sized Gremlins used in the film, not to mention a rubber monster suit from that bizarre movie with the insect typewriter. I must have spent hundreds on tickets trying to win one of the Gremlin props, and one kid who was helping with the show wound up winning the suit and one of the Gremlins!
Oh how I wish I could afford to bid on this remarkable piece. My wife and I celebrated the 38th anniversary of our first date last week. We saw Gremlins the day after it opened. The Gizmo plush I gave her a few days later still sits by our bed.
As those automatons of the late 1700’s had gained renewed major fame in the past decade & a half, as they’ve resurfaced and been painstakingly restored, put on public display and such, just imagine future generations ogling and gasping, these movie props brought back to “life” on public display, when they too are over 200 years old!
When I was getting into Puppet construction in College we were doing something like the veins in Gizmo's ears. Two methods to do that you lay down a layer r two of outer skin and paint the veins in before adding the remainder or you make a vein mold and lay vein casts into you character after the initial outer skin is in place
The collaborations with Prop Store are among my favorite on this channel. Seeing the stuff from the movies, getting to hear more of their backstory and provenance is awesome. Plus it's obvious Adam is like a kid in a candy shop seeing and interacting with so many of them.
With Adam's comments on the quality of detail to Gizmo and other special effects from the various older movies, I just may have to revisit classics like Gremlins and Aliens in higher quality resolution on a bigger screen than my 13" from back in the day.
The problem is, I would win that auction, and try to actually use the puppeteering, and the face would fall off :) There's no way I could have that and not try to play with it
I know this video is all about the gizmo puppet; But the camera keeps using angles that show a terminator staring into my soul and I am terrified every time.
I HAVE A GIZMO doll, that was my Buick Skylark Mascot, his poor head is a tiny bit flat from warm window, he and the car done me good :) He now sits in my Craftroom!
Amazing condition, loved Gremlins as a kid in 80s and still a good movie in 2022. Wish I could own one, or stripe or something from the movie or a 80s film. Bakers team did fantastic work and Gizmo will always be a 80s icon. 👍👍👍👍
It just looks real... Like it legit kinda scared me to see Adam that close to him because I felt that at any moment it could just grab him or whatever 😂 That's crazy. Masterclass in model making 👌🏻
IT STILL mystifies me as to how a goblin looking creature can come from a little fuzzy thing like a "MOGWI", i still want to dig deeper into the back story that is so fascinating to me after all these years, it is to why this series of movies is still my number one favorite.
I would give 3 kidneys to be able to have a walk around that place. I mean, this Gizmo is great, but all the other stuff i've seen over the years from there, it is like the ending of Raiders, and here you actually get to look at the things without your face melting off. If only you get a look at the lifesize ED-209, then i think i have seen most of my favorite movie props so far.
I absolutely love Gizmo he’s so adorable my little beautiful fur ball thank you for posting this beautiful video brings back lots of fond memories of Gremlin’s and loveable little Gizmo Sincerely love Richard ❤
Rick Baker's Gizmo for the second film is a significant improvement over the one from the first film. Gizmo is much more expressive, friendlier, and cuter.
Amazing . That dude was so scared that Adam was going to just start taking it apart and making it move Haha savage should buy this fir the shop or make one from scratch. Just dont give it to RLM Mike ...he doesn't look after his gremlins as well as I'd like lol
Very nicely preserved! I wonder if the controls do still work and if its computer controlled, what hardware did it use? Moving the eyes should be safe as no latex on them. Do it. You know you guys want to!
That’s so cool I absolutely love the gremlin movies tho if I had puppets of them they would probably creep me out lol idk why gizmo always creeped me out as a kid and he sorta still does if I think about it too much
The fact i still use "bright light" often, especially in the morning ;) just goes to show what an impact these movies made. Such a classic :-)
Right?!
@@tested thanks for sharing this, good memories 😄
I do too. Except no one ever gets it. I have to explain it. I also do the ouch with my finger pointing from ET.
😁

Same. Gremlins is still my favorite Christmas movie.
It has such warmth and life to it that the craftsmanship takes him beyond a prop. It almost feels like taxidermy.
I know exactly what you mean and you're absolutely right
I love this Mr. Savage's knowledge, and energetic enthusiasm for everything he experiences with props and building them! His joy for the stuff we've always geeked out about is endearing and magnetic. I hope he continues this and lives long and prospers.

I like that song!
No cgi just quality well made models! That’s what made these film legendary not half the crap on tv nowadays! Everyone loves the old films!
Damn...that's a prop I'd really love to have. Building gremlins as a teenager was my introduction to puppet-making, foam-building and latex. Thanks for sharing!
I have my own home-built Gizmo here in the studio.
Amazing! Can you share a photo on social and tag us?
How much for one of your puppets
This era has to be the pinnacle of physical effect making, before CGI became 'good enough' for a fraction of the price
For me the pinnacle of animatronics is the T-rex from the original Jurassic park. Gremlins 2 was same era though
@@lo-firobotboy7112 I think mixing practical effects and CGI (with a good sense of proportion) would be the best solution in today’s movies.
CG effects are not "a fraction of the price".
Often they cost more than doing things practically!
That's the true madness of it.
Part of what made the 1980s a Golden Age in entertainment. There's several pieces to what made it, but physical effects were one.

Oh, the things I would buy if I had the money....this would definitely be one of them. *sigh*
I love that he corrected him on Gizmo being a "Mogwai". 😆
As a kid in the '80s I was constantly drawing Gizmo or writing stories about him. Even made up a Miss Gizmo. Seeing this, even though it's not the original, made my day.
Iconic as Yoda/Grogu. There's an emotional appeal that transcends the mechanics.
Man this series of videos on movie props has been enjoyable! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the comment! We're glad you're enjoying them!
That Gizmo is simply amazing!
I loved gremlins 2 as a kid still do!
I was obsessed with gizmo I wanted my own mogwie so bad!!
When Adam shined his light behind the ear. That’s why Adam is one of my hero’s.
I dont usually watch these videos because I'm just not much into movie props, but this, this is my childhood...awesome to see, thank you!
I loved Gizmo as a kid, and cannot believe how on the edge of moment even a static position looks. Phenomenally cool. And thank you for sharing
Remember don’t get it wet, expose it to bright light, and most importantly don't feed it after midnight
You always have to wonder, at what point is it no longer 'after midnight'? Was it at sunrise? I was always curious about that.
@@TheShadowKarl Ha!
Adam: buy it, dissect it and make a replica in front of a camera for us. The entire world curiosity (and TH-cam ads) will pay for it!
Thank you very much for sharing Adam. I Especially Love Gizmo.
It’s funny Adam mentions “A Boy’s Life”, because in Gremlins, a cinema marquee shows “A Boy’s Life” as a nod to Spielberg
7:45 To loop back around, "A Boy's Life", the working title of E.T., is displayed on the movie theatre marquee in the first Gremlins movie.
One of the greatest money spinning characters ever! Every kid had a stuffed mogwai
That shot at 4:40 make him look so alive. Love it.
If I had ever won the lottery, or had cash just piled up, I would have either owned this piece or gone to Rick Baker myself and made him an offer that he couldn’t refuse.
Exactly what I would do!!!

Gizmo is quite a complex... gizmo. I'll see myself out.
A beautiful little guy and such memories, thanks both.

Really appreciate that! We've enjoyed working with them as well.
All time favourite movie, somedays I wish they tried to do a remake. Thanx for sharing Adam
I loved Gremlins as a kid. I really wanted to see all the movements 😔
Such craftsmanship is Art and almost living art.
So it's before serial data, it's a parallel puppet where each servo has its own external wire.
If I owned Gizmo I'd expect Howie Mandell to visit 😂
That store is incredible. They have so many top notch legendaries it's unthinkable.
Too bad I'm poor.
Wow so cool to see Gizmo close up. Rick Baker is a legend.
This Gizmo is full of gizmos. As it should be.
That man’s soul left his body the moment Adam rotated the base. Adam didn’t stay on-script; imagine that. 🤣 😂 😂 😂
With Adam's comments on the quality of detail to Gizmo and other special effects from the various older movies, I just may have to revisit classics like Gremlins and Aliens in higher quality resolution on a bigger screen than my 13" from back in the day.
You should call Rick and have him zoom on this.
All these props should be in movie museums, instead of shut away in someone's collection for years. IMO
What an amazing piece of work and art all rolled into this masterpiece
The problem is, I would win that auction, and try to actually use the puppeteering, and the face would fall off :) There's no way I could have that and not try to play with it
Loved this movie as a kid!
have you ever thought about of giving this guy a tour of your workshop because that would be an amazing video, (I bet he would a lot of nostalgia).
I know this video is all about the gizmo puppet; But the camera keeps using angles that show a terminator staring into my soul and I am terrified every time.
Gremlins, one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made~
I HAVE A GIZMO doll, that was my Buick Skylark Mascot, his poor head is a tiny bit flat from warm window, he and the car done me good :) He now sits in my Craftroom!
even in the thumbnail that Gizmo looks so full of life. Rick Baker's finest work IMO.
thank you for showing Gizmo.
I would have sold a kidney to win the auction on this guy, he fills me with so much happiness

Gremlins is on my list of movies for the holidays
Norm take note; This is how you do interviews...
Oh my gosh! So detailed and lifelike while static. Love gizmo. And animatronics.
This was just an absolute joy to watch this episode😁
I've heard that some of the Gremlins props have been mistreated, one even got into drinking and recently broke it's jaw in a bar fight, apparently.
TMZ, right?
IT STILL mystifies me as to how a goblin looking creature can come from a little fuzzy thing like a "MOGWI", i still want to dig deeper into the back story that is so fascinating to me after all these years, it is to why this series of movies is still my number one favorite.
Sad part is with modern computers and CGi we wont see any new renditions of 'puppets' anymore, so these will become even more collectible
I would give 3 kidneys to be able to have a walk around that place.

It’s a gremlin! Love how he immediately corrected him 😂😂😂
My dog Stripe is snuggled next to me. I'll make sure he watches his brother in name
Back before CG took over.
You’re my hero Adam!!!
whoa, so surprised about the veins in the ears. stunning.
Rick Baker's Gizmo for the second film is a significant improvement over the one from the first film. Gizmo is much more expressive, friendlier, and cuter.
Gizmo rocks!
Oh man... Adam is such a cool guy!
Awesome, one of the greatest of all time 80s movies 😄
Sooo cool. I'd also love to Chris Walas' original Gizmo up for auction. Quite different designs, actually.
This Gismo is a sweet memory from my childhood.
This really warmed my heart ❤️

I'm amazed on how preserved it is
I wonder what happened to the
gizmo puppet or
puppets from the first film
80s and 90s forever
That is awesome! I love Gizmo!
Very nicely preserved! I wonder if the controls do still work and if its computer controlled, what hardware did it use? Moving the eyes should be safe as no latex on them. Do it. You know you guys want to!
There are taxidermied animals in the Field Museum that don't look this good - and those were actual animals! Holy crap
I hope in a hundred years from now this is still in existence and inspires people in all fields of movie making.
In 100 years they will have cooked up a real gizmo in a lab.
@@andrewsock1608 One can ... hope?
Thanks Adam, this was so cool to see 😃
Haha i remember almost everyone had a gizmo in the back window of the car.
I wish someone looked at me the same way Brandon looks at movie props
This is so good!!!
BRIGHT LIGHT!
Little gizmo he is a cutie
My all time favorite creature EVER!!!
Never noticed he only has three digits per hand before. Freaky!
Would love to own this piece.
What a piece of iconic movie history. 👌👍
Great! Now make for us a good quality plush figure that looks exactly like this. 😛
That’s so cool I absolutely love the gremlin movies tho if I had puppets of them they would probably creep me out lol idk why gizmo always creeped me out as a kid and he sorta still does if I think about it too much
