What were you using GPS? Gaia? I'm making a trip out that way in December and would like to do some trial riding and exploring
Yessir! I plan all my routes with Gaia and OnX off-road. I highly recommend both!

Roughly how long does it take to get from 40 to max patch road ?
If you mean from 40, through the trail to max patch rd, you’re looking at 2 hours or so at a moderate pace
Can you do that trail in a stock Gladiator Rubicon? Or does it require a lift?
There are some spots that you’ll have to take your time on, but yes, it’s possible.
