      Brendan Carroll A good question BRENDAN basically a herb is the leaf of a plant that we use in cooking where as a spice can come from any other part of the plants such as the buds the bark the roots the berries the seeds from the herb plant when it is finished flowering like coriander seed and also Spices come from other unusual parts of plants such as saffron which comes from the stigma of an autumn flowering Crocus and vanilla which is the bean from a tropical climbing orchid native to Mexico. Happy Spicing
