  • Junior Khanye is former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder who had his promising career cut short by his off the field indiscretions and excessive drinking.
In this video, Nkululeko Nkewu goes back to Khanye's native Dayveton and talk to him about Kaizer Chiefs' recent trophy drought, his past and new found comfort in God.

    Dear God in heaven.
Please give your son another chance, it might not be on the field but a technical job in the football world would suit him. May you also teach us not to rejoice when one of us falls. I pray you restore him and give him another chance.
    Amen

@Ukukhanya Myeza The man on his prime, he use to buy chips in front of very poor township people, and step on them saying that 'inyoka' is eating, referring to the shoes he was wearying. He was warned many times and did not listen, of many people who are down and out of luck, why does he deserve a second chance? Him and others took away an opportunity for many talented Daveyton youngsters by ruining the reputation of Daveyton people. Since the advent of them, there has never been a Daveyton person making it to PSL. They are the people who perpetuate the culture of alcohol abuse in the townships by making drinking fashionable to impressionable youngsters setting bad examples. If you are blessed to be in a public eye, try and set a good example, do not brag, making other people feel bad,. The Torah says " Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall"(Proverbs 16:18).

@@magdelinemapheto9255 Hey I would love for him to get back to his feet and make positive of his life, it serves nobody any purpose for an individual to suffer. His so-called analysis is coming from a place of arrogant position and being overly critical as if he is without any faults. The truth is as talented as he was but he never lived up to his potential. Has very little Bafana representation, within Kaizer Chiefs, he does not come close to people like Marks Maponyana, Shane McGregor, etc, in terms of goals he tallied. I sense there is very little reformity in his charecter, as such his continued presence in a public arena is very toxic , hence I wish he could be less conspicous. Beside that, substance abuse is a scourge to our youth, we do not want to have a person with the history of sustance abuse to be in the position of influence.

I know this is a year old. The issue of development in South Africa is what costing us internationally. I look at Arsema player Shaka. He broke into the Arsenal first team at the age of 15. Our players in South Africa get their breakthrough at the age of 21 upwards. I agree with JK about philosophy to be instilled at development.

Most foreign players hav lots of commitment compared to locals, look at the likes of Benjani, Mbesuma etc vs the likes of OJ Mabizela, Lerato Chabangu and Jabu Mahlangu. Sometimes it has to begin wit the mentality of the players themselves than them jus being south Africans.

He had a privileged of learning from mistakes that Jabu did, and tried to be better. He refused to learn from that and was warned several times and he never took hid. He is in his mid thirties, if he was discipline, he would still be playing in the PSL, though in his twilight of his career. His career ended prematurely, house alone is not the measure of success if he does not have a steady reliable source of income. I understand that he's a hero for many people,I'm sorry if I step into people's toes, but I hope as township people we need to aim higher, why can't we have one of our own winning a Ball' Or Dor award. Why can't we win at least Africa Cup of Nations regularly. We have better facilities than most of our competitors, we have world class development academies, but we fail to produce a world class players. It could be the fact that we hold ourselves to a very low standards set by such players as Junior. How come rugby from our country competes at the highest level. Are we saying that indeed our White counterparts are superior than us.

@@bakanibaleni5865 I understand that as human beings we are prone to make mistakes, and I do not state that I am without sin. If you are in public eye though you got to act accordingly, like for example a policeman cannot be drunk to stooper with uniform on, whereas a person collecting cans for recycle can afford to be drunk. There are a lot of young people who look-up to them as role model, so he cannot afford to lead those people to the destructive path. We need to be able to hold each other to the high standards, especially when the advent of alcohol abuse is so prevalent in the townships. Beside that, he got a lot of warning about his behaviour, and chose to ignore the warnings. He was arrogant and cocky, thinking that it would never end. He ruined the chances of talented Daveyton people to make it to the PSL, because of the reputation that the township got as a result of people like him.I'm sorry that I offended you, a negative deeds do catch with you sometimes, it is the uncomfortable fact of life.

He goes on to make an example about Baxter being a helm of the National Tram playing typical English Football whilst Amateur National Coaches have a different philosophy. This Man knows Footballing Structure. It’s the case at England’s Theee Lions Teams (Mans Sides especially) assistant Coach to Gareth Southgate in the National Team is the Coach of the Young Lions 🦁 u/23 Stuart Pierce! The philosophy is the same..hence when they bring Jadon Sancho to the National team he’s able to perform easily when they bring on Todd Cantwell it’s also the same. This Man knows the running of a Football Club at every level. Eish he’s correct South Africans we are quick to destroy, give up & wash hands on people..imagine if “be ba mshayile nge ndlela e right as uMtwana..” we’d be having a brilliant footballing brains..ene he’s still very young this guy 35 36..that’s young Man.

@Truth Speaker You must only allow people to answer what you have asked them. People must not change subjects in a question because they end up saying unnecessary things that are not in line with the question, it brings boredom.
