All the lines in Kolkata r heavily delayed due to the worthless state govt...
1. There's no news abt this line after michaelnagar, due to land issues and WB govt's inability to acquire land from squatters
2. The entire Noapara Barrackpore lines hanging in the balance and probably will never be built, again due to state govt's refusal to remove utilities (like water pipes etc) from the proposed route
3. EW metro is still not open due to alignment change from Central to Esplanade.. The ground under the old route was much better suited for tunnelling but since the WB govt listened to traders union in Bowbazar, the alignment was changed. The result is hundreds displaced from their homes, many heritage buildings lost and minimum 5 years delay to the line, if not more
4. All land is supposed to be acquired for Garia Airport line, yet the govt has not handed over stretches like in Chingrighata. Of course land issues delayed this line as well in the past
5. Only the Joka line is currently held up due to central govt (tussle between army and railways over land). And like everything in WB, land issues plagued this line as well (like in acquiring land for building the depot)
I find it amusing that Kolkatans r not bothered by serious issues like these and continue supporting the govt, even when they r forced to use worthless polluting diesel buses, autos etc instead of the vastly more comfortable metro

correction: diesel buses are gradually being replaced by electric buses.
Regarding state govt. and centre they dont cooperate with each other. The joka taratala stretch has been delayed for inauguration as stated by Rohit in a previous post.

@@vaibhavbakshi7876 correcting the correction: very few electric buses r running in Calcutta as of now.. maybe 5% of the total or even less... its far fetched to claim that diesel buses r being replaced just because a minuscule percentage of buses run on electricity..
and for the Joka line, my point is the inauguration will be till Taratala only.. it will take some time before that line reaches Esplanade..

This three cities =136 gdp us dollars. Altogether this 3 cities gdp don't compare kolkata 171 billion us dollars. And Bangalore although it's it hub but it's gdp much much lower than Kolkata which is 110 billion. And Hyderabad is 74 billion us dollars. Do not be illiterate as Bimaru states people like bihar up Rajasthan, mp chattisgarh, jharkhand. Check the real data .your statement are worthless.
