Hey, I have a question, I'm about to get my first pointe shoes soon: Are you supposed to switch which foot it goes on? In this video she writes left and right in them, but I think I might have heard somewhere else that you're supposed to switch what foot they go on every once in a while. Thanks! 🥰 Edit: Thanks for all the replies, I'll be keeping them on the same foot now! 😅 (Any other tips still greatly appreciated tho 😏)
The shoes shape to the feet so it could be more comfortable to keep them on the same foot. If your feet are very asymmetrical and break the box unevenly then you can switch them every class. The shoes are handmade so often you have to work out which feels better on which foot.
No,each shoe should be allowed to mould itself to its foot, left shoe to left foot, right to right. Also some people have feet of different sizes so need a different size for each foot,so swapping wont work. Dont do this extreme form of breaking in either because your shoes will break down too quick. Mould the arch gently to avoid breaking the shank,or better still wait and consult your teacher how best to break in your shoes. Also if your teacher notices the shoes are not right for you you wont be able to exchange them if you have done anything to them. The best scenario will be you admiring the shoes as they are for a few minutes then putting them carefully away in their bag ready for your first point class.

@@pheart2381 Thank you! Yes, I'll be sure to not break them in like this. 😅
i like to label mine right and left. if you switch them then the ribbon length won’t match up
Would love to see the process in a slower manner.
That's a lot of work.
It's fairly minimal compared to what some dancers do. It's common to cut parts out and glue other bits.
