Forever my favourite Selina Kyle/Catwoman, no one has embodied both sides of her so perfectly. Michelle really portrayed Selina's spiral from a repressed, broken woman, to a dangerous, seductive, unhinged villainess with an undercurrent of vulnerability and a desire for a happy life.
I feel like part of that might be because Selina is so often written as cat burglar with extra flair. Hard to really do a lot with a character given so little story, many works just have her have grown up poor and this stealing to survive.

I love all the symbolism going on in this particular scene. I think this scene alone makes the entire movie for me. Definitely my favorite Batman movie specifically for her portrayal of cat woman in this movie. The first one was good, but Michelle just sells this movie for me. Danny was amazing, too, but Michelle is just the entire story for me. You see her as meek and frail, then this scene where she finds her inner darkness and destroys her toys (I believe this represents self destruction of her innocence, or perhaps an allusion to rape because she feels her innocence was forcibly taken from her). It’s a really powerful moment and really sets up her character development perfectly
I never noticed that before, about the toys. I do know that the light pink in her apartment is supposed to represent her repressed femininity. And the stitches in her costume, it represents how she's stitching herself back together after being torn apart. When you see the stitches start to rip open as the film goes on, that's her coming undone all over again.

I think she could sense her Mama was having a psychotic episode but didn’t know WHY. She just waited patiently for her to have her temper tantrum and would then go to her for comfort.
I feel Selina had a lot of screws loose before she transformed into Catwoman. Anyone else feel this way? Also because she was meant to be “crazy” before she put on the suit. It was SUPPOSED to be a breakdown. They don’t let Harley breakdown she’s supposed to be sexy whiles she’s crazy. It’s called bad writing and no character development.
I liked these Batman films by Tim Burton because they were so over the top and wacky and fun. Saw them on the big screen. They felt like comic books, they looked just right. Tim got appropriate people involved-- the perfect actors, designers, wardrobe crew, prop and set artists, musicians like Danny Elfman ... it all works. The look and vibe is completely unbelievable and delightful and out there on the edge. For me, this world is even better than the wholesome comics from the early 20th century that inspired it. I was thinking about how much this scene gaveme an Edward Scissorhands vibe and then I remember this film was also directed by Burton lmao
Miranda Watson Also composes by Danny Elfman. Like Spielberg and Williams, they are a Pair; you can’t imagine one without the other.
I remember seeing this in theater with my parents..... We actually went there a lot because the 90s had so many good movies!!!
I absolutely LOVE Elfman's music for her in this movie. It was great hearing callbacks to it in The Batman's score with those shrill violins.
If my boss kick me out of his window like that I might just end up as crazy as her .
Thank God to movies like this, they can really help remove the trash someone throws at you.
This whole sequence was amazing. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Oh I forgot I'm not married😂
Gurl, I'd sure marry you.

God bless the studio exec who let Tim Burton do whatever he wanted with this film.
Hard to believe she still doesn’t have an Oscar.
& An Emmy
When i was a kid i wanted to be her. i tried to maker her claw gloves and everything
2:02
Michelle Pfeiffer that white gold
This is still my favourite Batman movie...and it's all because of Pfeiffer's Catwoman...seriously she should have gotten an oscar!
She is the best Catwoman!
I was a little girl when I saw this! I loved this movie!
Cat 1: Is hooman dead?
Cat 2: Nah, she out cold.
Cat 3: come on wake up! We all seen that. You can't let him get away with this!
When she started freaking out and trashing the place, i knew she was batmans type.
Michelle Pfeiffer is the best catwoman I've ever seen.
This is my favourite Batman film, and was the first film that I saw starring Michelle Pfeiffer! She gives an excellent performance here and I've had a giant crush on her ever since!
Her having a mental breakdown:
Turning in a hot and strong queen
Me having a mental breakdown:
Sitting in my dark room, watching this movie while crying, eating junk food and wondering why i can't be a hot and strong queen
Sorry, but for me this is the Batman movie EVER...
2:43 the cat was like 'wtf !?!'
Or maybe be like wth ‘!?!’
She was like, “Mama, what’s wrong?!” She was trying to figure out why her mother was acting the way she was. She freaked her out that’s why she got up on the mantle to get out of the way! I think she could sense her Mama was having a psychotic episode but didn’t know WHY. She just waited patiently for her to have her temper tantrum and would then go to her for comfort.
Michelle will always be the best Catwoman ever
That outfit is so hot
3:02 Penguins on the coathanger and kittens on the shirt is nice foreshadowing. Like when Penguin eats the house cat at the start of the film.
Taking 'Crazy cat lady' to a while new level
I feel Selina had a lot of screws loose before she transformed into Catwoman. Anyone else feel this way? She was paranoid all the time, always comes to work with bad hair, talking to herself, and other crazy stuff. Shreck just pushed her over the top after he attempted to murder her. He also fueled her hatred of men.
I don’t blame Selina for snapping the way she did in fact I’m glad she did.
Michele pfiefer was purrfect for this 🖤
0:52 this is actual footage of me coming in after a night out.
One of - if not *the* - best transformation scenes of all time.
An all pink appartment. It looks great with the neon too. I gotta try that out.
Also, RIP to the teddybears who got murdered in the sink.
the tiny details is what I love about the scene
2:10 the wide arm raise (slightly broadway)
2:31 madness grin
2:56 high troll shoulders while spray painting
4:13 thug head tilt
michelle...what an ACTRESS!!
I was 12 when this came out and I've never seen anyone, anything, so much YUMMIER
she makes crazy look 10x sexier than Margot Robbie did with Harley....
Both did their characters justice and lemme tell you, she was annoyed at the first Suicide Squad dumbing down the character as anyone else. She did all her own stunts. Please don't use one amazing woman to bludgeon another for creative decisions out of their control.
@@psionichelmsman EXACTLY. They are both fantastic in their own right.
Also because she was meant to be “crazy” before she put on the suit. It was SUPPOSED to be a breakdown. They don’t let Harley breakdown she’s supposed to be sexy whiles she’s crazy. It’s called bad writing and no character development.
what's cool about Michelle is she has a sultry purr to her tone of voice without having to purr which is very very good
I’d kill for Michelle’s bone structure, I really would.
drnkendramaqueen I mean there just bones 😂
Why kill? There's surgery for bone implants (or bone equivalent for plastic surgery that isn't structurally important) that can do it.
Imight Realperson figure of speech
Awww those cats were cute.
This Gotham City is something else; I wouldn't wanna live there-- but a short visit sure is loads of fun.
Also, part of this scene would have made a fantastic commercial for the "Got Milk?" campaign. :D
I’m more impressed by the fact they managed to train cats to do these scenes
They actually covered Michelle with Tuna fish so that the cats would swarm her
You can train cats. It's definitely possible. Lots of love and patience but it can be done.
When she only had one black outfit in her entire closet. Gotta love Michelle’s performance. Her and the one from gotham are the best incarnations of catwoman so far
“Honey I am home oh I forgot I am not married”
😂😂😂😂😂
Anyone else catching how disconnected from reality she looks at 4:13 when running the sewing machine?
This week in TH-cam Recommended that you never asked for but are grateful you got
The one thing that always bothered me was how she was able to fit all of her stuffed animals down the disposal. Lol
Poor sock monkey, kitty plushy, and the other toys. That and messing up the kitty shirt hit me right on the childhood.
Meybe the best batman movie!!!!
Sí
Crazy movie with the cats and the penguins.
Cats like wtf dude I don’t need that much 1:20
More like "thank you mommy"
