    A note on PRI and BRI, where i live all ISDN services ends within the next year, it's becomming to expensive to keep alive.

      Yup - VoIP is a really attractive option. I haven't had to deal with ISDN in probably a decade.

    You can setup a Hunt with Telco on POTS lines and they will advertise the main caller ID for any of the trunks the call originate on. You also have strait T1 E&M with winking. They handle 24 calls instead on 23.

    In Proxmox you have it almost like on bare metal. No problems at all, really easy setup ;)
    It is not good to say virtualization is bad. It is way better than hosted one in the cloud, where it is usually virtualized as well and usually even 10s of miliseconds far. I rather buy one quality 1U server with ECC RAM for more services than to use tons of small cheap chinese boxes.

    i installed more than 10 freepbx in VMware and proxmox of 100+ user, and it is stable for past 4 years and not faced any technical problem, snapshot, live automated backup is very easy, more over High Availability and Fault Tolerance can be configured, it is the concept matter....not the virtualization platforms

    • @CrosstalkSolutions
      @CrosstalkSolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - it's not a question of whether or not it's possible. The issues that I typically see with FreePBX installed into VM's is that they are not configured and/or maintained properly. People don't take the time to learn how to do it right.
      This is why when we support customers who have installed FreePBX in a VM, our support is always 'best effort.' Whereas with a bare metal server - especially one that we've certified for use with FreePBX, we have a much greater success rate.

    I was directed to this series by a friend but I think this may be overkill for my goal. I recently moved and the home has an obscene number of phone jacks including in the bathrooms and elevator (these still have the wall mounted slimline phones attached) all neatly terminated at a punch-down block in the network room and I thought a fun summer project would be to set them up with some local extension type set up so you could have a toilet to toilet conference :)

    i have an on site.. 20 user freepbx deployment behind a pfsense firewall handling the vpns/port forwarding and routing... the onboard gig nic on the firewall box went dead about 3 weeks ago... so i put in a nic card and was back up... then yesterday the new nic went down.. Grrr... 2 nic failures in 3 weeks in the same box... odd to say the least.. everything is on UPS... wan plugged into the cable modem direct... lets see how long this one lasts.. ive been in the network business for 30 years... nic failure is somwthing we barely ever see..

    • @kmontoya87
      @kmontoya87 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would start looking into what's feeding the NIC via its power source. Start measuring for appropriate voltages are in the appropriates places, along with a visual inspection of the entire unit, no blown caps etc, etc. Did the NIC PCB have any signs of visual failure? Can be tricky to spot usually, but something like that can be really helpful in the midst of diags.

    I just wish I could have a box, connected between two or more phones, regardless if they're rotary dial or touch tone and assign each a phone "Numbers" hear a real dial tone, then ring one of the other phones when the assigned numbers are dialed, without the need for VOIP nonsense, nor needing a land line from the telephone company. Like a private telephone system, if you will.

    Just have to say - having installed "Free"PBX, I'm inclined to remove it immediately because it seems to require handing over contact information as part of activation - and I'm spammed with adverts. It wasn't like this the last time I used the product. I presume Sangoma are monetising this?

      2-20 seats for our Cloud PBX, and 10 seats and up for our standard hosted or on-premises PBX solutions.

    Hey! I'm new to FreePBX. I've set up Raspbx on a Raspberry Pi 4 and would like to make calls using a 4G SIM router (TP Link - TL-MR6500v/ VoLTE, VoIP, VoiceMail). The router works fine on the RJ11 port with a standard phone.
    I previously attempted to use the chan_dongle module, but it appears that the 4G SIM doesn't work with it. I don't believe the mobile carrier provides any SIP settings for 4G SIMs. Is it possible to connect the VoIP router with Raspbx over Ethernet?

    I just found this tutorial series a few minutes ago. I'm looking forward to watching it. :)
    Would this be appropriate for a single voice line + fax in/out line? I run a small office from home that's just me, and I keep ending up having to change VoIP providers because after a year or two whatever company I'm with jacks up my rate to something insane. The provider I'm with now as nice enough to tell me *when* it was going to double in price, at least.
    If this software is overkill for that, what would you recommend instead?
    Thanks again!

    Is there a TFTP server within ver 15? Need to run some Upgrades from Cisco to SIP . Finally have some free time never loaded ver14 on mu machine. What type of hard drive is recommended if I plan on voice mail? Conventional HDD or SSD.

    • @CrosstalkSolutions
      @CrosstalkSolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - FreePBX still has TFTP server capabilities. But these days, we mostly rely on Zero Touch Provisioning vs. Option 66. SSD is always recommended for any production server...no moving parts means less chance of failure.

I can argue for four channels in my organization for users, but we also are required to maintain two emergency elevator phones that are never used. Thoughts? POTS does NOT stand for Plain Old Telephone Service! that is just a lazy misunderstood and repeated ad infinitum acronym. The term actually refers to Post Office Telephone Lines which adhere to a particular though very common generic technical standard. Originating in the UK which issued and serviced telephone lines through the government run GPO.
