- Vientiane, the capital of Laos, is a city that offers a unique blend of traditional and colonial architecture, along with a serene atmosphere that reflects its Buddhist heritage. One of the most iconic landmarks in Vientiane is Pha That Luang, a golden stupa that is considered the national symbol of Laos. This majestic structure, originally built in the 3rd century, is said to contain a relic of the Buddha. The stupa has undergone several reconstructions, the most significant being in the 16th century when it was rebuilt by King Setthathirat. Another significant site in Vientiane is the Patuxai, also known as the Victory Gate. Vientiane's Wat Si Saket is the oldest surviving temple in the city, dating back to 1818. The temple is renowned for its cloister wall housing thousands of tiny Buddha images and rows of seated Buddhas. The temple's main hall, with its distinctive Siamese-style architecture, provides a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The Mekong Riverfront is a popular spot for both locals and tourists. In the evenings, the riverbank comes alive with vendors selling food and crafts, and people gather to watch the sunset over the river. This area is ideal for a leisurely stroll or a bike ride, providing a perfect opportunity to soak in the tranquil atmosphere of Vientiane.
A short drive from the city center is the Buddha Park. This park features over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues, creating a surreal and fascinating landscape. The park's centerpiece is a giant reclining Buddha, which is a popular spot for photos. Visitors can also climb a three-story pumpkin structure for a panoramic view of the park and the surrounding countryside.

The Buddha Park is amazingly beautiful- perfect integration of the large and smalle statues, the plants, trees, butterflies and birds... and then the winding paths through it... I could easily spend a day there. Wow.

Laos is a quiet country most of the roads are not repaired and many outdoor activities and food are fantastic too but need to eat fast because there are many flys around to share food with u.Hygienic is very poor there as cows , chickens and dogs go round the house compound too😢😢
