Ah, such a lovely and unique piece, so happy to see it all finished!! =D Thank you for showing the washing process, it helps somebody like me who have yet to wash anything, it helps to see it happen because I do get nervous at the thought of putting my projects in soapy water once I'm finished with them. Yet I know I do want to wash them because both of my projects will have been worked on for well over a year and though I am very very careful with having clean hands and a clean surface while working on them, I know it will make a difference once they are washed.

Thank you. I'm not overly concerned about the backs of my pieces but I do try to keep them neat to avoid any unnecessary lumps and bumps showing through once the piece is stretched and framed.

I do a second rinse by mixing some white vinegar to cold water just to make sure my project is dish liquid free. I do the same ironing procedure. Really enjoy your FTV. Thanks Pam.
Very informative! I have a large project I'm giving to my sister technically as her wedding present but it is definitely late! Haha I was really worried about how to wash it because of how much detail it has. I've never had a project this large and detailed. Your video however put me at ease! Thank you!

I am just a little late finishing some projects for Christmas. I cross stitched 4 hand towels-the ones with the strip of Aida cloth for stitching. I need to wash them tonight. Can I put them in the dryer on low for a while to speed up the drying process before ironing? Anyone?
That’s how I thought too but I have 2 different projects. 1 is stamped, the other is not both are very intricate so the unstamped one is getting a bit confusing for me so I’m trying to find tracing and carbon paper to transfer the confusing part to help me
Loved this! Say you have a project that has beading. Would you do this step before the beads have been added? Or can you still do this with beads attached?
Personally I prefer to do this before adding beads but I have done it after. Just extra cautious with the washing and had my iron on lower heat and allowed the piece to mostly air dry.

There's no such thing as a piece for experienced stitchers. 😉 I think everyone can stitch whatever they want. Large, small, elaborate or easy; they are all just made up of tiny x's.

I have a large cross stitch that took me Avery long time to finish so it has some quite dirty areas. But this piece has metallic thread stitched in it. I have beads to add last but should I wash first? I am concerned about threads loosening ? Any ideas?..

I have purchased some online from 123 stitch. But there is a needlework shop in the next province that will do mail orders. I just call or email them a list of charts and fabric and they let me know cost. Most of my full coverage pieces I bought online from Heaven & Earth Designs

It should. I have not washed one personally but my understanding is you need very warm water to desolve the dye that was used for stamping. You may need to soak it longer as well.
That's a good question but I don't personally have any experience with tapestry. You can handwash wool that's colorfast so I assume you could use the same process but I'd do more research and try a sample piece before washing anything large that you've put a lot of time into.

If you used thread conditioner or beeswax when stitching, does it wash out? Does it need to be washed out?
I don't use thread conditioner of any sort and I still wash my pieces when done.

I've washed mine without incident. If you're concerned about the direct heat from the iron you could put a towel between the iron and your piece.

Unfortunately it's not a chart available for sale. It's one I charted myself using an online program called pic2pat.

As long as your stitches are secure. I've seen crewel work but I haven't done one myself.

I would be cautious. Hand dyed fabric may not be colorfast. I would check with the manufacturer or try a test piece of the same fabric.

My daughter got me frixion highlighters. I don't know if the eraser on them will work with other brands of ink but you could try it.
