My (now) wife and I loved this so much we used it as our first dance song at our wedding last October.
Thank you Kalax and Bryan!
Thanks for being here!
I love your videos. They have helped me out so much more than you’ll ever know. Thank you for taking the time to make these.
Thanks for taking the time to watch! Stay tuned and stay in touch.
your videos are well done and explain clearly what you are trying to communicate. As a newbie only out about 10 times now, I like learning the lingo. If I am in Columbus I will defiantly stop by
Thanks for watching! Even if defiantly, we’d still be happy to see you.
Can't believe the response to my previous comment, very impressed. Grateful and learned a lot from the video. Thanks again from North Wales UK. I'll be back. Dave.
Always happy to help. It's what we do.
This is why I like cassette fly reels . I can have a float , sink tip , slow and fast Intermediate , slow sink , medium and fast sink lines , and different weights and it saves me a fortune in spare spools .
Thanks for being here and thanks for sharing.
Huhhh !! I live in Columbus Ohio!!! I have to stop in to see the store! Awesome! Love the channel
No way....we're in Columbus too!!! Stop in somtime.
Hi Brian, Luv your channel..learned lots...One question from this video.. You recommend for people starting out to use a weight forward line .. My question is why weight forward and not a standard double taper line ?..Thanks in advance and greeting for Netherlands.
Thanks for watching. Please send your questions over to Brian via e-mail through the shop and he'll get back to you there.
@@Madriveroutfitters I would if he would give an email address and I also don't see email on mad river website....my interest just ended.
sa mastery mpx still the best line today for me. its such a good line
@@kingkelledy Certianly one of our top sellers. That’s for sure! Thanks for watching.
Hi, great video! I’m relatively new to fly fishing and would like to know what you would suggest the best line for targeting stillwater trout around 3-6 feet down? I’m using a 5 weight rod/reel and this line would mostly be using blobs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Thanks for watching. Please contact the shop directly via e-mail or phone with your questions and they will be happy to help. That's what they do!!!!
hahahaha, "you've got fly lines for tuesdays, fly lines for wednesdays"
Fly line marketing at it's finest.
lmao
is there a fly line that double hauls on its own?
Can you size up or down a line on a specific wt rod? For instance #5 on a 6 wt rod? Btw you guys are awesome thanks for all your knowledge!
Please send your questions directly to the shop and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
Hi Brian. Sorry for referring to you as Kelly in my previous comments, but great stuff all the same. My question is, though: how can you gauge fly line that comes loaded on second hand reels, that have no indication of the gauge? I have a number of such loaded reels, and, being a total novice, have no idea on how to # the lines. Regards. Ray
There is such thing as a scale to weight the grains but not many folks have those. No way of really knowing other than "eyeballing". Take to a local shop and they should be able to give you a ballpark.
Many thanks. Ray
No good way imo. Just put it on ur rod and check it out. If it works ok use it.
Hey there. I'm from Northern Ontario, I was wondering if there was a line that would give me decent coverage for the fish I'll be going for. I'll be going for smallmouth, walleye, lake trout (early spring), northern pike and muskies. Is there a line that would be okay for use on those species? If not would you be able to give me an idea on what lines I should buy?
Sure, we'd be happy to help. You can e-mail or call the shop and Brian or one of the guys will get you set up. admin@madriveroutfitters.com or 614-451-0363. Will tell them to look out.
Rio gold elite 👍🏼
@hulkhogan1942 how many fly rods do you have now??
SA Mastery MPX is 100% the best fly line I’ve ever used
Thanks for sharing and thanks for watching. That is in fact a great fly line.
What fly line would you recommend for helping to turn over heavier flies and get the max distance on a 6-8 specified rod?
Please contact the folks at the shop directly with your question and they will be happy to help. That's what they do! You can e-mail them or better yet, give them a call. Thanks.
Hello. Thank you for great videos how to start fly fishing, amazing job guys. This season I would like to start dry fly fishing with fiberglaas rod 7,6ft 4wt medium action. What is your line recomendation for that rod? Weight forward or DT?. Best regards from Poland.
woodman Thanks for checking with us but that is a question for the shop. Send them an email and they will get you taken care of there.
I live in Florida and I fish alot of beach areas. I would like to know what fly line you recommend for clousers?

What is like a universal line setup for freshwater bass and occasionally inshore saltwater fish like halibut and perch? If possible I would like to do both
Please contact the shop directly with your questions and they will be happy to help. That’s what they do. Thanks.
What’s the best way when switching back-and-forth from floating line to sinking line? Can you just attach a 5 foot of sinking line to floating line then leader and vice versa or do you just have two separate reels rigged for each application?
Best to call or e-mail the shop with questions like that and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
@@Madriveroutfitters lame answer dood.

The mpx good for trout fishing? Im a beginner and got a 5wt rod and reel for trout fishing in Australia and need a fly line and dont mind spending a bit more for quality.

Hi just a random question Is the orange fly line a sinker or a floater
Most likely a floating line as he would rarely demonstrate with a sinking line. You'd have to confirm with him though to be sure.
@@Madriveroutfitters ok brilliant
info is helpful. thank you. I keep hearing a weird noise...like a static glitch or smacking
Thanks for watching.
What are your thoughts on over-lining?
Scott M. Probably best to give Brian a call at the shop directly if you can. He’ll be happy to share.

Assuming you are talking about Brian's book here?
"The End of the Line" is done and he's working on getting it printed.
Will be plastered all over Social Media and here when available.

I was! Been waiting for it so I can read the self described "most boring book ever written"
We have read it and he succeeded! It's horribly boring!!!
Stay tuned.
I’ve got an 8ft 6in fly rod that says #8 fly line. Is that too big for rainbows for 12” to 5lbs? Should I use a #8 fly line on it, or use something different?
Please send your questions over to the shop and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
Hi, would it be possible to use a Salt Water floating line in clear water rivers, creeks, brooks?
Yes, you could, but might present some challenges. Feel free to contact the shop and they can discuss with you further. Thanks.

Is the cortland 444 sylk fly line any good? I'm using an old bamboo rod
Luke Alexander Good question for the folks at the shop. Give them a call or an email and they will answer you there. Thanks.
I been scavenging the Internet now for about 6 months, on and off!
And for the life of me I can't seem to find any info about the line I need.
So the idea is that I am going to fish a 8/9 switchrod with streamers pike mostly. And I wanna be casting overhead 99.9% of the time.
However I need to have like an idea of the range of grain a rod like that can take overhead...that's 1.
2 it's gotta be a shooting head ( preferably integrated line)
3 it must a fast sinking lakes are dam deep in here. 😀 something like and S6,7,8 would be great.
Any suggestions would be mighty appreciated.
I have been using a teeny T-350 on a single hand rod previously FYI. While that still works, just feels a little outdated and wanna try something new to go with the new rod 😉
Call a good fly shop and they could solve this issue for you in seconds! 614-451-0363 and they will get you fixed up. Thanks.
i need that 1 fly line that spawns more trout in these city lakes they are void of them 2 week after stocking
Give the shop a call. They probably have that.
Why do dozens of people comment with their detailed questions when you told 'em to call the shop? :)
Because people don’t actually listen to what he says! 😉
Is it possible to have a line that is good for both salt and freshwater? Open budget.
Yes it is possible. Contact the shop and they will be happy to consult.
You bet. The manufacturers have tried to make it all more complicated than it needs to be

Can please help me out im a slatwater fishmen get a 12wt rod with a 12wt reel look for a fishing line redfish and snook and with game fish good fly line $140 to $ 45
Please contact the shop directly and they will be happy to help. Thanks.
What size fly line for a 3w medium fast?
jonah urban Uh....3wt. As advetised.
Apologize for this guy. What he meant to say is if you buy a 3 wt rod you need a 10wt reel and 6 wt line. And 300lb tippet........ this was the biggest slap in the face comment I've ever seen haha.
I have a fast 9ft 7wt rod that will cadt a 7wt line well but it will also cast a 9wt line very well for me. That is the quandary in todays rod technology. Imo there are no rigid rules or black and white. I also have 4wt rods that i use a 3wt line most of the time. If you like slow rods one or two line wts above listed wt may well work better for you. If you like fast rods a lighter line or two may be the ticket
Hi, can you tell me whats the best line for roll cast? also what backing is needed for 5/5wt fly rod and reel?
Thanks for checking with us. That is a great question for the folks at the shop. Give them a call or shoot them an e-mail and they will be happy to help.
A weight forward or double taper line will both roll cast . Regards backing . On a #5 then 20ibs backing and 50 yards will be enough . It depends on the size of your reel . The backing does not only provide extra line if a fish runs a long way , but it fills the drum of the reel which makes the coils in the fly line larger , so less memory . But as a general , a #5 you are looking at 50yrd + of 20ibs backing .
@@TheSavagederek thank you for the tips
DT double taper will roll cast better but even a level line will roll cast. I fished for several years with a level line for warm water fish
What about lake fly fishing?
Tons of fun!

Love you videos and only in America will someone pay over a hundred dollars for nail clippers
Thanks for watching....although not at all a true statement just to be fair.
We don't sell nail clippers. There is a difference in the hardness of the blades on fingernail clippers and line nippers designed for fishing line.
We ship alot of high end nippers overseas. Especially England, Australia and Germany. Seems they are popular, especially the Hatch brand overseas.
If you can't pay that, you don't. Or perhaps you can pay a lot more, but do not wish to. It is very simple and just, I guess. These guys are doing a great job, though, and that's what matters!!
Aint it the truth. That is the difference between a fisherman and an angler
What weight fly line should i use for my new very light 2wt fly rod please?
Sounds like you should use a 2wt? Feel free to contact the shop if they can help further but it's pretty simple math there.
What line do I need for a #4 rod ? Plz ?🤔
Sounds like a 4wt line will do the trick. Any further questions, please e-mail or call the shop directly. Thanks.
Yeah I’m lost . All the numbers and letter threw me off 😂😂
It's a lot. Don't worry you can come back tomorrow and watch again 😛
Seems like like cheap floating lines turn into sink tips pretty quick.
True.
Do I need backing line and if so why

Good work!!!
I’m really confused what’s the difference between fly lines and leaders
JTJ Gaming Fly line is colored and leader is clear? How ‘bout that? The fly attaches to the leader. The leader attaches to the line. Hope that helps. Our "Getting Started in Fly Fishing" series should help clear it up as well.
