This, and to be fair, many other decisions in the last by Tom and the other judges, really serves to demonstrate that the judging has a lot of integrity and no one has plot armor on this show. One of many reasons we love Top Chef.
when she sent up the rice dish with knowingly undercooked rice, i thought she was not processing the challenge correctly. What a shock that Rasika is out like this
@@nancymilawski1048 I'm glad you enjoy the show. I was surprised that these two cooks got eliminated this early. Both are talented and have lots of personality.
Absolutely love her too, I was hoping she would make it back into the competition but this was just terrible strategy! It sounded like she was trying to replicate a family style meal that would take hours to make under normal circumstances. She was making food that was time consuming but humble, and he was doing quick but seemingly fancy.
Right? Kevin literally just got eliminated from a rice dish (risotto) too. Never understood why chefs pick rice dishes when you have only 20 minutes...
TBH, I thought Rasika had this last chance kitchen in the bag. Kevin is a good chef but Rasika had been better on the show. Very surprised how lack luster she performed here. With that said, if I'm in the city her restaurant is at, I will definitely make a reservation.
“When you come out of the game you are sober and when you don’t win you are drunk” He’s partially right…even when your team win you still come out drunk lol
I really wasn’t expecting Kevin to defeat Rasika. There was something about his facial expressions before he was eliminated during judging. He seemed to think he had a top dish always. Seems rather arrogant 🤷🏾♂️ JMO
Sadge rasika. Gone too soon. This doesnt define her or make her a bad chef. Hopefully she hones in on herself and craft. There is always All Stars. I'm sure there are alot of opportunities that is gonna open up for her.
Someone needs to talk about the lack of sanitation and cross contamination. Same spoon to mix different things and the finger in the sauce and then licking it.
@@nicotuxedo I swear that it's been called out in the past. I have a vague recollection of Padma calling a chef out for tasting with the same spoon that went back into the prep.
this was called out way back in season 1 from chef hubert lol. I think they stopped mentioning it since it happens so often. Also, sorry to burst your bubbles but guaranteed some of the chefs at the restaurants you go to have also done this. We don't see what goes on back there so...
This was a challenge designed for everyone except Rashika. She is quality; this challenge was quantity. Not only did I think the challenge was unworthy, the outcome is a shame.
I'm not a fan of the guy who won. I watched his facial expressions during the competition when others won. I found him arrogant rather than confident. I was surprised that Rasika was out. I hate these speed competitions like this. Great chefs shouldn't be determined in this way.
Unfortunately it’s luck of the draw what the format will be for the last chance. I loved seeing the dishes Rasaka made but I think she should have been more strategic by doing more simplified versions or street feed style dishes. It’s so hard to translate a family meal that would ideally take hours to make.
I find it weird that someone like Tom is tasing a dish from a different culture for the first time and is saying the rice could be cooked more… maybe that’s how it’s intended to be for that dish????
‘Someone like’ Tom with 40+ years of worldwide culinary experience and 21 seasons of Top Chef to judge whether rice dish is cooked properly. Their job is to cook the most impressive dish possible for Tom not meet cultural standards. Plus she said it was undercooked.
I agree with all of the other comments about her acknowledging her rice was undercooked. Also, what makes you think Tom had never had that before. He's a professional chef who has traveled the world, there is a good chance he has had this very common, very traditional Indian dish before. I think the judges often feign ignorance about dishes to get the chef's to explain to the viewers what they cooked.
Wow, there was a point where I thought she was going to win the whole season. That’s wild.
This, and to be fair, many other decisions in the last by Tom and the other judges, really serves to demonstrate that the judging has a lot of integrity and no one has plot armor on this show. One of many reasons we love Top Chef.
I never in a million years thought Rasika would be out this early.
Me too. I thought she'd win it all.
neither did i!!!!
Same she was my winner pick how’s shocking 😮
Why?
@@roseeckstein6534 wdym why
when she sent up the rice dish with knowingly undercooked rice, i thought she was not processing the challenge correctly. What a shock that Rasika is out like this
Exactly. She could have started another dish until the rice was cooked.
Yes I believe they 25 minutes left, lots of time
First time on the bottom, first cook in LCK, elimination. Wow! I did not see that coming at all. She was one of my picks to win the whole thing.
Go big or go home! That guy just wanted it more. He was cooking until the last second.
So was she
@@nancymilawski1048 Yes but just a little slower.
@@josephrocha142 I think she could have brought up 2 dishes at once if she had them ready at the end.
@@nancymilawski1048 I'm glad you enjoy the show. I was surprised that these two cooks got eliminated this early. Both are talented and have lots of personality.
After the first show I thought Rasika was going to win it all. Surprise surprise
I can't believe how quickly Rasika tumbled out of the show. It's head scratching. She seemed like the strongest chef by a mile!
I like rasika but making so many rice dishes for such a short time? Like good textured rice literally takes minimum 30 min to cook….
Absolutely love her too, I was hoping she would make it back into the competition but this was just terrible strategy! Rasika seems to have been throwing stuff together, didn't seem to put enough thought in them.
Rasika is going to make a COMEBACK like Richard Blaze. Give me another ALL-STARS and Rasika could win- similar to Blaze's trajectory!
TBH, I thought Rasika had this last chance kitchen in the bag. Kevin is a good chef but Rasika had been better on the show. Very surprised how lack luster she performed here. With that said, if I'm in the city her restaurant is at, I will definitely make a reservation.
12:47 Holy crap I did not in anyway see that coming
I wanted her to win, but he played the game better.
Also we never start our meals with payasam - its always near the end.
I would have cranked out 9 perfect omelets, as fast as I could
I’m shocked over this! I felt like they were kind of against Kevin the whole season & she was for sure a standout star along the way.
“When you come out of the game you are sober and when you don’t win you are drunk”
He’s partially right…even when your team win you still come out drunk lol
She's gonna dominate away from the show... Go Rasika!!! I can't wait to try your food one day

I doubt this group of cooks could get hit by a pitch and take a base.
Power Bottoms represent!
Also, that was a sadistic challenge.

I really want Rasika back... But... Haizz... So sad... 😭😭😭

when kevin licked the spoon and put it back in the blender to mix his green curry sauce in the last episode was so cringe...

Anyone else read the title as Baseball-Inspired Thai? Just me?

This challenge was really who could cook more dishes. Not the best dish.
This is really weird, something doesn't feel quite right, sending Rasika home...fishy.

I also wanted her to win. However he played the game better this time, have to give him that. Sadly she also disappointed a bit this round.
Kevin is sexy
I'm stoked Rasika got the boot. Didn't like her from the very beginning.

I find it weird that someone like Tom is tasing a dish from a different culture for the first time and is saying the rice could be cooked more… maybe that’s how it’s intended to be for that dish????
She said she was worried it was undercooked. I think the expectations for cooked rice are consistent across most cultures.
Seriously she knew her rice was under.. undercooked rice is not pleasant.
