Mostly, Ancient people used to worship the one who had the great power like king ruler of his kingdom either they do it for fear or for showing honor n respect. Or the one who were they gets benefits from it like money etc.. Those Idols that today people worship no doubt either at some period of ancient time, they were also a human beings with great powers or may be they were a king or something else, and people used to called them god & worship them for honor or respect, example are in the video.
