The more I listen to this the more I appreciate the song choice. Particularly the chorus. "Oh, you're making waves in the same old way! Times are changing, you still playin' the same old game." At first it's a reference to the old feudal lords of Europe, stuck in their ways and with their aristocratic armies, that fall to Napoleon. Yet, in turn, as those same foes who survive adapt and begin to show signs of 20th century-style warfare (defense in depth, reliance on destroying the enemy's capacity to fight over beating him in single pitched battle, scorched earth, etc.) it's NAPOLEON who's stuck in his old ways. He's incapable of securing what he won because he's still relying on the same old tactics. And so, he in turn is undone by the same changing times that brought him to power.
Also im very happy you recognized why I chose this song ^^ Besides that theres more lyrical references I found very useful, for example the part "Why would you give up" at the end. But the one you pointed out is the most important!

If he was to lose battles single handedly, he would have adapted quickly and destroy them back again, he was never stuck in his old ways, he was stuck alone without proper allies.
