I grew up in the Mission district from the age of 13 to 18, loved the Mexican restaurants. No one ever bothered me when I took my brother's kids to the theatre for a double feature. It was a poor but great place to live and grow up. Walked all over all the time, went to go shopping and to Dolores park to play. Awesome place with lots of diversity.

This documentary is outdated: After 2001, "exceeding high cost of living", in not only the Mission, but also other San Francisco neighborhoods, is causing Latino families (Guatemalan, Mexican, El Salvadorian, Honduran, etc.) to move out. Nobody and I mean nobody cant afford living in San Francisco nowadays! Today, you can find San Franciscans living in, as far as Gilroy! In comparison, gentrification is occurring in another neighborhood, Bayview Hunters Point, and this is just the beginning -- San Francisco is planning to lay the ground works, use the wrecking ball, and build from scratch, the Bayview Hunters Point. Rebuilding the neighborhood is going to kick out the black community. There's a saying "history always repeats itself".

Funny how some people like to say it was a Jewish or Irish neighborhood.
    California IS Mexico.
