    *Updates:* (11/30/21): Annoyingly, TH-cam has removed the public dislike count. If you'd like to see the dislike count on this video, I suggest installing the 'Return TH-cam Dislike' extension (Firefox, Chrome, Edge).

    It has a dark theme... BUT it does not allow to use a black background (only dark blue). Yeah, this with an AMOLED is better. One of the reasons I also use the Prime Pro app on Android (Note 9)

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, we can only hope HP fixes that in the future. It wouldn't be as bad if the lcd was right side up.

      @@TheLastMillennial there might be other reasons behind this choice. Easy supervision by a proctor... ?
      Anyway, the biggest shortcoming is the programming and abysmal python support

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it's not intentional by the devs since they tried to fight with the higher ups to get the lcd the right way around. Yeah, I don't know why there's no full Python yet.

    Thanks I was wondering many things and you answer everyone of them. I have a question : when you charge HP Prime on USB should you let it on or could you put it off ? Since it's off I can't see if it's still charging. Since the first time you're supposed to charge it fully before using it I thought that it should be off while on USB. What do you think ? The starting guide isn't clear about that. Another question : is the signum function available ? I couldn't find the answer on the web nor in the doc nor in HP forum. Tks anyway, usefull video.

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can leave the Prime turned on or turned off while charging, it wont negatively effect anything. I would leave it off during its first charge but I doubt it makes that much of a difference. The Prime does have the signum function, however it's called SIGN() in the catalog. Glad you found the video useful!

    Do all hp prime g2 have the same specification? Or are there any differences?
    528MHz
    ROM:512 MB
    RAM:256 MB
    I just bought one from the US but not quite sure about the specifications.

    • @TheLastMillennial

      There is only one G2 model so every G2 has the same internals. As long as your calculator has a G2 logo on the back, you're getting the newest calculator from HP.

    I didn't see any usb adapter. Does it come with one ?

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean a USB A to micro USB cable, then yes it certainly should come with one. If you mean a wall plug to USB A, then I don't recall there being one. I looked back at the original footage however I didn't see one. Maybe I missed it among all the packaging but I find it unlikely. I'll double check by asking my friends over at HP!

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OK, so it appears that it depends on where you buy the calculator. If you buy it in the USA, then you'll get a USA charging brick included. I bought mine from the Netherlands (since it wasn't available in the USA at the time of recording) so mine didn't come with a charging brick at all. It charges from a standard 5v 2A adapter so if you have one laying around then It's mostly likely compatible. Great question!

  • @Matongrud
    @Matongrud 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi again,i is there an indicator when its charging or when its fully charged? Because I star charging it an the calculator turn on and I immediately turn it off. Sorry for my English I am from Argentina

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can tell if the calculator is charging only if you have the LCD screen turned on. If you see the battery icon in the top right corner with a lightning symbol then that means it's charging. If the battery icon is green and completely filled then that means it's fully charged.

    I am trying to buy the G2 but I can’t tell the difference between it and the G1.can someone tell me how to distinguish between them?

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want the hardware differences, I suggest you look at: www.cemetech.net/tools/prime There's not a super easy way to tell the physical difference, the G2 looks nearly identical to previous hardware revisions. If you have the calculator yourself then just look for a little G2 logo on the back of the calculator. If you're looking for it online, then look for the product number. Revision A is: NW280AA ; Revision B or C is: G8X92AA ; Revision D (the G2) is: 2AP18AA .

  • @Kuraio
    @Kuraio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Has the screen improved any? The one on my original (Rev.A) version has a terrible viewing angle.

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately, not much. I don't have a rev A to compare the G2 to myself, but I've heard the LCD is slightly better, it's still nowhere near good though. :( I'd say you can safely get 40 degrees of viewing angle before you can't make out any contrast. It's such a shame HP installed the LCD upside down, I can easily get 70 degrees of viewing angle if I just turn the calculator upside down!

      I bought mine from the Netherlands here: www.derekenwinkel.nl/hp-prime-grafische-rekenmachine-1271.html for €139,00 (about $150 USD). Shipping to the USA cost about $10 so I paid a total of about $160. If you want to buy it from a more common site, Amazon has it here: www.amazon.fr/dp/B07HF6RXGG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_b-R1DbTEF3EPJ for €158,94. If you're in the US, you can now get it at Best Buy here: www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-prime-handheld-graphing-calculator-black/6348951.p?skuId=6348951 for about $150 USD.

    What is the model number? th-cam.com/video/O5nPh6IvQDU/w-d-xo.html shows versions 1, 2, 3... Also I suppose android in 2020 has actually more capability BUT NOT allowed in classroom situations. Is that the correct thinking? Anyone hear rumors of a new Prime past 2020 date?

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sadly, it appears that video does not present its information well and it's outright incorrect in some places. The HP Prime G2 has 256mb of ram and 512mb of ROM.
      There are 3 hardware revisions. Revision A which was the original HP Prime. Revision C which added better data transfer capabilities. And revision D which is the HP Prime G2. There is no revision B. The model number for the HP Prime G2 is 2AP18AA.
      There will not be a 2020 HP Prime refresh. The HP Prime G2 already has the best specs on the market, it just needs to catch up in the software field.
      Yes, you're correct in thinking that Android phones are orders of magnitudes more powerful, but are not allowed in classroom settings. It's a lot easier to restrict what you can do on a calculator than a cell phone.

      I'm surprised your calculator didn't last long however, defects can happen. This isn't a widespread issue otherwise I would never have bought this nor would the reviews be so high. Two weeks is well within the warranty duration so did you take advantage of it and send the calculator back to HP? How long ago did this happen to you? Did you buy the calculator in the USA or a different country? What troubleshooting steps did you take before you decided the calculator was bricked? I know a forum called hpmuseum.org that has some fantastic people willing to help you get your calculator back to working!
