I was watching both side-by-side (pausing sections and restarting) and the tone of each video is so dang different. lol both are great, it's just really interesting to see two very different approaches to the same task.
i built a race car one time from the ground up in 4 days i finished building it in the Tech check line passed went on to race, i even worked on it in the trailer on the way to the track, i didn't get instruction's though this wasn't a kit car build i had to weld this car together i was welding at the track off my generator people thought i was crazy
i absolutely love that this video is longer than the others! i believe your content really suits long form (20ish min) videos rather than the shorter 10 min ones! thanks for the great video!
I was like "man, this is such a daunting task" but then I saw it all laid out at 1:27 and got that "Oooh, Lego!" feeling that Callum talks about immediately after. lol
I expect Callum to do quite good in the Academy. Broadbent already proved that i helps a lot with getting you accustomed to higher speeds. Knowing the tracks also helps A LOT. From my limited time in racing cars on fan day drives, i'd say something most people disagree with - in a certain aspect it's a bit easier than the sim, because you have all the additional information from the g-forces which are missing when you are just sitting still in your living room. So go ahead Callum, have fun and enjoy the experience to the fullest :)
Would love to see a bunch of automotive TH-cam channels entering this championship. That would be way better than watching TH-camrs boxing each other 😅
I've built two Caterham in the US, this video makes it look much easier than it really is. The manual appears to have improved significantly and the parts kits look more complete and organized.
This was such a cool episode and can't wait to see it develop into a proper series! Is it just me, or is that front negative camber 20:56 extremely aggressive!?
YUP! That's exactly why my Audi has a mix of standard and metric fasteners, because racecar. Definitely not because I misplaced them and couldn't be bothered to grab the right one.
Yes, how did these two manage to get soo much done so quickly? With 8 Hours to spare?? And it starts right up!?! Seems like the chassis has quite a bit of pre assembly. Also nice that the Caterham chaps expertly dropped the engine tranny in… Would be cool to see an actual time lapse of the entire assembly :) And would be fun to build this kit!! Nice space to work in, with all the tools, parts handy, extra parts as needed, experts handy :) Lots of fun, great video!
Having raced a Caterham Super 7 in the US for over a decade, I think my father and I could assemble one in 24 hours. For someone who doesn’t know the ins and outs of the car? That’s an entirely different endeavor. Hats off to the gents for giving their all… or thereabouts 😂
I also thought that European cars used the metric system instead of a mix between the two. I imagine the steps going "take a three sixteenth nut and tighten in to twenty-five pounds per square inch". I'd just toss the manual in the bin at that point.
This guy is living my dream. I'd love to do this. I've done a few engine swaps and built a car from a chassis before with a friend. Not in 24 hours but it looks like so much fun for a challenge.
From starting out off the bat 1.5 hours behind, then finishing with 8 hours remaining! That's a huge comeback... movie magic or are these two guys super heros? Was impressed that they knew the names of everything, good work.

This is something i would really like to do haha, just the building side of it. How Callum said "this is the biggest LEGO set ever" is exactly how I pictured this. I don't know why, (other then LEGO is one of my most favorite hobbies aside from customizing my little SCX24 rc crawler) but I really really want to try something like this, those instructions look so fun to try and follow.
ive built 74 Factory Five Cobras, 14 Factory Five Type 65 Coupes, 1 FFR 33' hot rod, and 2 FFR GTMs. along with some 20+ mustangs ranging from 1964 to 2021, AND put a new original spec engine in a 1966 Ford GT40. watching this is so fun to see a complete novice building a kit car
This video either proves these two are some of the most mechanically gifted people I have seen, or that Caterhams are easier than expected to assemble. Not sure which.
Very easy to build, i assembled my friends for him in 30 hours with the limitations of only having a small home garage and the chassis on axel stands. Honestly with two skilled people and a full workshop it would be doable in 12 hours, the hard parts of a real kit car like wiring are already done for you. A Caterham kit build is 90% assembly and 10% setup work. Well worth doing however as you get very familiar with how all the components function making repairs and upgrades easy.
So many comments already praising the great content you put out, I only have one small suggestion: If you do another car build like this, put the parts in a giant yellow capsule, as if it's from a giant Kinder Egg :)
IF I had a car show, you could bet your bottom dollar I would re-make every possible TG challenge. The only reason I would want to make a car show in the first place would be to re-make TG adventures. Go get'em boys!
it would be cool to get financing details about this so we know what to expect if we were ever going to enter the series ourselves. Plus how you guys entered etc. Sorry if you already have :DD Good luck in the races :D
Remembering that this car looks so like a Lotus Seven, and that when Patrick McGoohan drove one he ended up in 'The Village', it would be very cool to have the race number 7. Callum could repeatedly insist 'I am NOT a number!'.
@@OVERDRIVE.studios Glad it was useful. I’m starting a new series of videos on a whole new Caterham build project so hopefully people will like that too. I’m also the Caterham and Lotus Seven Club video guy, so that was me posting that comment too. The Club would absolutely like to do a piece for the monthly mag if you’re interested.
Whoever cut to the footage of Callum crashing is a bloody legend.
Congratulations to Callum and to all of the Overdrive crew for becoming a real racing team! I cant wait to see more racing videos from this channel.

This is the content we want! Driving tips from a pro to an amature and some close racing and car building to boot !
Building a race car in 24 hours? That's like trying to bake a wedding cake in a microwave

Not really, if it’s a basic car like the 7 it’s totally doable
did they forget what happened to Hammond, and he was driving in a really top notch piece of kit.

This channel is the greatest thing to happen in the world of cars since the peak of Top Gear! Keep up the fine work gentlemen! It’s second to none!
This Top Gear re run looks different 😂
First thought of mine😂 only the OG'S will remember the original 😂
top gear reboot looking way different
Scott = Jeremy, Will = Hammond, Callum = James? I feel like Callum wants to name and file his spanners
@@crazycjk Callum! What? Stop filing!
Thought that before I even opened the video, 99% of what they do is just some reheated top gear idea
What a fantastic investment for the channel and future content can't wait to follow along the race journey

I know people prefer understeer to oversteer, but it does seem a tad too much for an engine of this power.
two men laughing at "do you remember those extra fat nuts" got me way more than it should.
Racing in caterhams sounds so much fun! They are one of my favourite cars. Good luck for Callum in the races!
They went from 24h to wrap a car to 24h building a whole car. They're fast learners 😁
The excitement I too feel with Will and Callum when you start the car is amazing! Very infectious. I'd want a Caterham myself!!
13:13 "Ho!" "owwwww" "Sorry Dave" is my favorite part
The relationship between them is very wholesome. Made my day ☺️
Which would you be more fearful of driving, the TopGear 24hour Caterham or the Callum+Will 24hr Caterham.. I genuinely don't know 😂
Atleast this one did fell off the stands, so imo this is better XD
