I think the interpreter did a poor job when interpreting- this request was denied because the guy said ' he climbed out the window from the third floor' and the interpreter didn't translate the part when the guy also said he climbed down 'through the water pipe'.

Liliana Villanueva I also feel like these interpreters in our country truly don't understand our language as well to do a proper interpretation, they do it according to what their own country would interpret it and that's very sad, because it's a misinterpretation all the way around! very sad for alot of these people who trust their lives in these Peoples hand! I'm so happy to be an American! I would not want their jobs, very stressful :(

Why does the guy keep telling “okay what is he saying please?!” if that is what the interpreter is for?! If he doesn’t trust her ability he could politely pause them.
Literally EVERY interpreter knows to speak in the first person and not say “he says”. We are there to facilitate the communication between the two parties accurately and make it seem as close as possible to what the appointment would be like if they both spoke the same language. It’s like finger nails on a chalkboard watching this. Any interpreter, like the 1st Chinese Interpreter, who doesn’t do that is a bad one. And it would take a few minutes to explain to the interviewer to look and speak to the interviewer directly like they are the person they are having the conversation with. Ugh. Just cause they are weathered and salty about the whole process doesn’t mean they shouldn’t treat these immigrants with some respect. Imagine being in their position.

21:45 did she really just say "it's like they don't want to go home"?
