Lata Mangeshkar's first Bengali songs were 2 Tagore songs "Madhu gandhe bhora" and "Tomar holo shuru", both sung with Hemant Kumar and recorded in June 1953. Hemant Kumar himself mentioned this as "Lata Mangeshkar first Bengali song" in an interview with V. Balsara. He repeated this in course of an interview with Subir Ghosh in the 1980s.
