Maybe CHL teams will do more for there 18 year old players so they won't jump to the NCAA. They could pay them a fare salary and or pay for there education at a Canadian university while they are playing for the local CHL team.

The biggest win for the players is they can swap to the NCAA and make money through NIL.

Will a majority of NCAA hockey players make money through NIL?

@ Like other NCAA sports, the better the player the more money they make through NIL as long as the school has an NIL collective that is willing to pay the players.

@@kdub2224 I just wonder how big of a money maker a player like Celebrini would be in the NCAA. I’m Canadian, so from an outsiders view it doesn’t appear that collegiate hockey players in the US are cared about that much. I hope I’m wrong and hope these kids make some money, and that this opens up better development for all players who will transition to the NHL though.

@ML-my8qq the answer is $0. Only American citizens can receive NIL

So what do kids want when they play at a Junior team? Frank makes it sound like can just go play in the USHL compared to the WHL. So out here in the West we have 6 US based teams that all draw really well in nice barns. The top two- Everett and Spokane drew 6,000 a game last year. I know there is not a USHL team that even can draw close to that and that. And it is even close to tops in NCAA attendance comparison as well.

USHL is easily the biggest loser in all of this.

Can someone please explain to me how this will lead to more programs getting created?
Of all the programs that were rumored to be starting varsity teams (think Illinois,) how many of them pulled the plug because of lack of available players? I'll answer that: none.
