Just discovered you and I'm bingewatching your vids which I'm enjoying and learning from in equal measure. You deserve way more subs, so I've hit the button. And I have that Godox softbox too, so could you please make a video of how you fold the bast@rd back into it's sleeve? Ta.
Ahhhh thank you so much! This has totally made my day! Hahaha I had to just force mine into its bag this morning, I’ve also left jobs with it fully folded out, hanging out my back pack, to save embarrassment in front of clients 😂
Ah thanks! Im assuming you'd be able to buy different triggers, the X Pro one I use lets you adjust the flash output from the trigger, but im assuming you can buy compatible ones, not sure though!
Good question! If I'm right with what you are asking. If you have one flash and it's off camera, you need a trigger on your camera hot shoe in order to make the flash fire. If you have a flash off camera, you can have another flash on your camera hot shoe, set the one on your camera as a master, and the one off camera as a slave, and when the one on your camera fires, it will trigger the off camera one to fire as well, I believe this only works if it can see the flash fire on some models.
Ahhhh that’s what I used to have! They take so long, especially out on a job! These are so easy and fold down just like a reflector would fold down. So they fit small in a bag! They’re amazing!
I'm just getting started using off camera flash, so I'm not sure how all this works. You said that using three of these flashes makes the subject too lit up. But what if you just moved the subject further away from the flashes? Wouldn't that make the light more diffused (softer)? That is, assuming you had both the space and time to move you subject further from your lights. Maybe this is only a thought experiment, because using that many flashes outside of a studio setting sounds like a big pain.
Hey! Yeah I'd say so! Don't get me wrong, Three lights would still work in a lot of situations. I think the last time I had three of these set up, I was using one as a main light, one slightly behind to rim light the subject, and then the third to light the background so it wasn't too dark. For close up food dishes, for me personally, I think it was just providing a little bit too much light. I hope this makes sense!
For an extreme beginner into flash: The TT685Nifty I just got came with a white sock-like thing to go on top of it. Can that be used as a half decent excuse for a softbox for the time being?
Yeah absolutely! Anything to soften or diffuse the light will do it! Or there’s a white card that pulls out, you can use this to bounce the flash as that softens the light too. You could even use a roll of toilet paper, but the fold would have to be on top. The correct way.
@@ThatGingerPhotographer I AM using the paper in the correct way. Not sure that's something that can be said about everyone in this convo 😔 I'll play with the flash for a bit and get my head around it before I get a stand and softbox. You made me want to get that K&F camera bag too seeing that I'm collecting more and more "junk" that don't fit anymore in what I thought would be the "small, essentials only, don't haul all my sh!t around bag" that I have now. You, sir, are a very bad influence 😡
@@madalin934 hahaha that bag in my description? You know what, it’s a bag that just holds a decent amount of equipment without being obnoxiously large! I originally bought it for holiday because people can’t open it while you’re walking without you knowing.
@@ThatGingerPhotographer That one yeah. I thought a bag to hold a camera and a couple of lenses plus a few small bits and bobs will do me well, the bigger the bag and I'll definitely find a way to stuff it with crap. Which is what I'm doing anyway and I keep getting more "you never know when this might come in handy" and "better to have it and not use it than need it and not have it" stuff crammed in it. I'm a hoarder 😭
I've linked to all of the flash equipment I use in the description for this video, cos im lovely!
Help me out and hit subscribe?! 🙏 bit.ly/2HvUsNq

Thank you for the great tips, very well explained !
I am soooo glad it helped, and thank you so much for commenting!
Hi man love your video ..... do you need a specific trigger for tt685 or any trigger will do
Ah thanks! Im assuming you'd be able to buy different triggers, the X Pro one I use lets you adjust the flash output from the trigger, but im assuming you can buy compatible ones, not sure though!
Photos of food. I’m IN!! 🙌🏻
Hahaha thanks man. Enjoy 😍
Does the tt685ii need a trigger to work off camera? Or does all speedlights need a trigger to flash without using a slave or flash to trigger?

Ive linked to the triggers and flash I use in the description. The triggers are cheap at £60ish, and can control the power output from the trigger.
Reception sounds harder than the actual wedding Nice video
Haha! Thank you!!
I like that fold out soft box, the two I have took an age to put together with umbrella-like wires in it.

Thanks for watching!!
