UPSC Civil Services Exam is one of the most prestigious exams in the country. It has three parts, the Prelims exam, the Main exam and the Personality test, which you need to clear in order to become an IAS or IPS officer. All other Group A services of the Government of India recruit people through the UPSC Civil services exam itself and because of this, there is a lot of competition in this exam. Hence, your UPSC preparation should be strategic, informed and well planned.
Your UPSC preparation should not be based on blind adherence to any program. Rather you should give a thought about how your are preparing. The best way to go forward is to study the blogs and tips given by previous year toppers about how to go about UPSC CSE for all three stages of UPSC Prelims, UPSC Mains and the Personality test also known as the UPSC Interview, and then make your UPSC preparation strategy accordingly.
Doing static subjects like polity, economy, environment, geography and history for your UPSC preparation is a solid bet to increase your chances of clearing this exam. But this must all be supplemented by current affairs for best effect.

Sir I think checking my answer key was the biggest mistake that I did. Ever since 16 june i haven't done anything except checking the expected cutoff from EACH and EVERY TH-cam channel there is. I think I'll go crazy. I'd rather not clear prelims than go through this trauma. Idk about my fellow aspirants but it's impossible to study for mains when your mind is pre occupied with 80/85/90, maine ye kyu tick kiya, maine ye question kyu attempt nahi kiya etc. It's crazy that our whole life depends upon +/-2 silly mistakes. Sir life itni complicated kyu hai sir. Jeevan me shaanti kab milegi 😭😭😭
Edit - Bhai Mera to clear hogya prelims balle balle
What is done is done, you can't change that now, what you can do is to see how to move on from this stage. If you want to stay in this cycle forget everything for now till the result comes and figure out things you will need or do for mains, at least start with figuring out how much of your mains prep is done, I know it's hard but still you will have to do that, you'll have to bounce back from this, and trust me jitni jaldi karoge ye cheez utna behtar hoga warna 2-3 mahine tak ye prelims ka trauma reh jaata hai...and there's no sense asking these questions ki life itni complicated kyun hai kyunki sabki hai, aur shaanti milegi nahi, jo hai jaisa hai usme shaanti banani hogi.
P.S.: जब नाव जल में छोड़ दी, तूफ़ान में ही मोड़ दी, दे दी चुनौती सिंधु को, फिर धार क्या मँझधार क्या।।
All the best!

Your words are not only authentic, but calming too. Thank u for being our mentor, sir.🫡🙏🏻💯
Sir, You are really a guiding light. Doesn't matter whether the recipient of your guidance is a failure or a success. The best part about you is, you reach out to all the doubtful minds! Whenever I do clear UPSC CSE , I shall evermore be grateful to you !

In physics, the Coriolis force is an inertial (or fictitious) force which is universal that acts on objects in motion within a frame of reference that rotates with respect to an inertial frame. In a reference frame with clockwise rotation, the force acts to the left of the motion of the object. In one with anticlockwise rotation, the force acts to the right.
Formula of Coriolis force = −2𝑚(𝜔×𝑣′)
Coriolis force depends on the object's velocity 𝑣′ as measured in the rotating reference frame.
And X represents cross product of vectors.
And is NOT dependent on the velocity of the wind. As even in a vacuum the coriolis force acts on a planet with no wind in it.
If the question is coriolis effect on wind thenit depends on the wind velocity as the object itself is the wind. If we talk about coriolis force on a bullet then its independent of wind as it only depends on speed of the bullet.
Even ocean currents are influenced by coriolis force even if there is no wind in ocean.
In conclusion,
Coriolis force on wind increases with increases with its wind speed.
Coriolis force in general for any object is INDEPENDENT of wind speed and solely on object’s velocity in that rotating frame,
So 1st statement is wrong.
And the 2nd is correct as at poles the Coriolis force becomes -2mwv (Sin 90 degrees) = -2mwv which is maximum value and at equator its -2mwv (Sin0) which is 0. Hence, Absent.
Answer is B.
Link:en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriolis_force
Thanks buddy, used the same logic in exam but now going mad after seeing every coaching institute say otherwise..
Bhai mere geography optional ke notes me to likha tha coriolis force increases with wind velocity. And as far as I remember geography ki higher textbooks me bhi yehi likha hai. So I thought it's a well known and common fact?
@@Be_rational_2 Agar wind ka baat ho raha hai then sahi hai, but statement me ye mentioned nhi hai - tab universal lena padhtha hai then its not dependent on wind velocity - ocean currents ko hii dekh lo

Thank you for this. This is my third attempt and I am still scoring around 70. I was extremely disappointed for the past two days but what you said made sense. Irrespective of the cut-off, I want to clear this exam in the future and it is in my best interest to prepare for Mains. So I will begin with Ethics tomorrow.
I am in the same situation as you. Would you like to connect so that we can share strategies for the next 90 days?

I’m also scoring 70-73. Is there any chance that the cut off would be lower than last time?😔
can you please make a detailed video on strategy and approach video on how to handle mains? This is my 1st attempt and I am preparing along with a job, did many blunders and silly things like marked a particular statement wrong in the question but included that statement in the correct option and filled wrong bubbles for answers for B and D interchanging them to each other. Currently getting in 70's with 47-49 questions right and 35-33 questions wrong. Since I have no guidance regarding how to approach mains and sources to follow apart from basic Prelims sources, it would be vey helpful for me.

About red sea rivers. There are 2 explanations why statement 2 is correct. One is that , it is directly written on Britannica and it almost seems to be copy pasted in upsc paper. Another one is that, I know it is written on wikipedia page that there are some seasonal streams, but. Here upsc has played a very good game, they said no water flows into the red sea by rivers. This is true and to validate this, go to Google maps and turn on satellite layout and then observe all the countries around red sea. You will not find any stream flowing into the red sea. There are courses of these rivers which are completely dry. So there may be left over courses of these rivers, but no water in them.
Yes correct 💯

I feel few answer given in your ans key and most of the other coaching keys are wrong..one question which says there is no bar on president power to prorogue house in session. I think there is always a bar of judicial review of legislative action taken by president and secondly he has to follow constitutional norms, it cannot be based on malafide intentions, thirdly he has to consult pm etc process itself is a bar. So correct answer should be only three. Another is about rainwater composition if you see chemical composition of rain water it always has dissolve gases nothing in atmospheric form so statement about that it contains oxygen in atmospheric form you can refer to lecture soest hawai about rain water composition, sci direct research paper, usgs report on geochemical action of rain water. So correct answer should be c.. As third statement is wrong. Third one about united States government debt is backed by only faith in government. There is no such clause as only faith. What clause is full faith and credit. Question misses the world credit. Full faith and credit is much stronger legal term than just faith in government. Therefore second statement is wrong. Correct answer should be c automatically. Another one which i am 50-50 is csr activity is not allowed if it directly benefits its employees/company..my argument js that there is exception to this rule as till financial year 2023 companies were allowed to show expenditure in covid research/vaccine etc as csr activities and it allowed expenditure normal course of business. Any expenditure in normal course of business will benefit the company directly. Also the csr rules doesn't mention anything like expenditure which directly benefit the employees it mention that if the activity is designed exclusively for employees or companies then only it can be considered. But if it benefit both public at large and employees/companies and it cannot be distinguished then it may be considered as csr activities.

@@Anonymous-ke7ng What do you think is the answer of "Plant caterpillar insect" paragraph?
Most of the coachings are saying option C.
But they are not considering the last line which explicitly states that the finding can help to understand pathogens like fungi or bacteria. They need to understand that Pathogens and Pests are different. Pathogens causes disease and requires antimicrobial compounds whereas Pests causes Damage to the plant and not disease. Pests require pesticide.
In the whole paragraph no single line talks about plant damage however in the last line it itself says it will help to understand pathogens like fungi or bacteria. The option C is incorrect for one more reason! It states that "it can help to develop ecologically sustainable pesticides" There is no guarantee given in the passage which proves that it will be ecologically sustainable! Not all natural products are ecologically sustainable.
It simply throws light on clinically useful antimicrobial compounds.
