    Nice. I like the reading light and the fact you can remove the radio from the power supply.
    Using the rubber feet to locate it in the right spot for the power supply plate is a great idea.

    Very nice, i like how there is now holes in the box good design . Now rebuilt it in a flat ammo can with a antistatic liner so its emp proof

    Truly an excellent setup! Only thing I personally would go with a higher quality radios. Those are notorious for getting hot and blowing finals. Just a thought, but great work.

    As someone new to ham I was curious why you built a 2m/70cm go box? I understand an HF box for pota/sota and such, but most of my remote 2m/70cm activity is on 10watt HT.

      VHF & UHF allows you to communicate within a local community (Off road, family, networks, etc) of people much better than HF. These radios can cover an entire city and repeaters allow you to extend reach even more. Also much of UHF you can use without a ham license, FRS, GMRS, Land radio, etc. which gives you lots of options. I would ask these questions on youtube, lots of info there

      I wish I could tell you, I haven't transmitted and received for long periods of time with just the battery, it seems I'm always connected to DC power somewhere. Would be a great test.

    Did you have to modify the PSU to run your radio? If so, what did you have to do to make it work with your radio unit? Thank you.

      The power supply is a Pyramid PS8KX - 100W 115V AC to 13.8V DC 6A. I have switches that engage and disengage both AC & DC input. No mods necessary.

      Yes, if you plan on transmitting. The test is not that difficult, it just takes some time to prepare for.

      No, this is duel band UHF & VHF (2 meter/70cm). This can communicate directly, radio to radio (Simplex) or using repeaters where available.

    how do you charge the lithium battery next to the radio?

      The battery slides out easily, and I have a small AC battery charger that also goes in the box with alligator clips to charge it.
