A larger point of this synth is not the presets. It’s a 3 oscillator synth with classic and modern wave forms. Great effects, a much better screen, user area to store your own patches, an improved keybed. People dogging this are short sided
Absolutely. I have just always had a 'browsing through the factory presets' session where I often formed a first impression. In most cases, this first impression stuck, but in some cases I have also found that there were much more under the hood than what the presets revealed.
The model I played in this video was marked 'Prototype' back in May 2024. I also just got a production model this week and while i recognise the vast majority of presets from back then, you are correct that some have changed. I guess this was expected to some degree from a prototype to production model. I don't think the preset from the prototype that didn't make it into the production model are available.
Not sure when that happens, but it would likely be a good deal if you can get a pre-owned model in good shape at that price within the next year or so. I just ordered a brand new one to get some proper demos of it uploaded asap.
21:19 aaaawwwww, I was wating the whole video for an Acoustic piano alike sound I really wanted more of this is there any? I just paused here to put this comment The Rhodes sounds and all the Game SFX section is calling me (aside of the goodies from PWM, FM, and leads)
No, unfortunately there was no acoustic pianos at all. Not even the SG Piano from the XL models. But it was labeled ‘Prototype’ at the show so they may add some sounds before the actual launch.
@@SoundsLikeThisGear let's hope if anything, MK2 can be a very good potential replacement for the MKXL+ ... IF ... it had some of the good goodies from the XL+ like the split and some of the DWGS waves but having 3 oscilators and a harmonizer, including the looper, sounds like something interesting let's see, let's see, thanks for sharing
@@SoundsLikeThisGear fingers crossed, I got mine like 2 years ago but just now I'm actually learning synthesis more deeply, for my needs those vintage keyboard sounds as well as the capacity to split the keyboard are perfect, would be great if the Dual for the MK2 could have start and end key so we can program a split, but for the rest, I'm currently liking the UI and the workflow so far, fingers crossed
@@SoundsLikeThisGear I just read the manual, effectively, no Piano DWGS, nor even C-Piano DWGS... what a bummer, also no Split... for the rest, seems like a very promising upgrade. @@SoundsLikeThisGear I don't know if the other microKORGs have a synth like that, but I had the microKORG XL and it had another arp that sounded like the Macarena synth. I'd play along with my music, and use that synth to give the songs a Macarena vibe.
@@SoundsLikeThisGear I also have the microKORG XL +, but I don't use it, since the sounds on the XL are 100 times better than the ones on the XL+. On the XL, the arp is called Party Arp. (A / Rock/Pop / Arps) Turn the arp off.
Thank you for uploading this. I was looking for any superbooth info regarding this synth. Factory presets sounds a bit disappointing, nothing mindblowing tbh
You're welcome. I usually don't share opinions, but stick with just presenting the presets as they are. But as mentioned in the description, it is still a prototype so they may still be working on the stock sounds. It was way batter than at NAMM where the demo units just had 5 presets - all named NAMM-something.
Really? What kind of music are you writing? I think it sounds mad. A lot of my bases covered with these pres. But I’m writing 90s style and contemporary House. I’m probably gonna be selling my minilogue xd for this. Thanks for the vid x
I am not if they changed it. It feels quite good - as does the OG and the XL ane XL+ versions. When recording it at Superbooth I was mostly focused on the sounds :-)
@@SoundsLikeThisGear That is a bummer. Hopefully they keep it sounding like it did on the clips from nam2024. Cuckoo had it sounding very nice. They say good things come to those who wait!
At the first glance, yes it does tick quite a few boxes (so to speak!). But I need to have it available in a 'controlled' studio environment before I can really know for sure if it's a long term winner for me. It has not yet hit store shelves unfortunately, but I will buy one as soon as they become available and create structured demos of it. SO please do stay tuned and check in once in a a while. :-)
To be honest, the last time I played an OG MicroKorg was whennkt was released over two decades ago. I just can’t make that call. But woild like to do a demo on the OG some day.
@SoundsLikeThisGear yeah I bought an S model the other day however the crystal one looks much sexier.. I'm definitely going to get this one when it's available anyway!
Thanks. You may want to listen to the more structured/organised demos of it (this one is mindless noodling at a tradeshow): th-cam.com/play/PLkGHDTvF4ccdq_7YeRsKePOj7TLCOG0QX.html But that said, I missed a few 'real' vintage sounds like in the XL+, even though there are some nice synthy sounds in there as well.
No clue... I am not affiliated with Korg in any way - or Behringer for that matter. All I can see is that some dealers state an estimated delivery date.
@@SoundsLikeThisGearYeah Behringer gave eta's to dealers also and wound up being 6-9 months delayed because of mfg'ing issues. Sounds alright. I'm always glad to see new VA synths around but it doesn't seem to hold a candle to the raw sounds of the original MK
I try to stay unopinionated, but look forward to giving it a real demo in a ‘controlled environment’ as soon as it becomes available.
