  • These are all 1/72 scale models of the three currently in service US Air Force Heavy Bombers.
    The B-52H which the USAF maintains 78 of. The last manufactured in the early 1960s, they have been regularly and completely maintained and updated with all the latest electronics and weapons types. Including adding the same Common Rotary Launcher (CRL) used on the B-1B and the B-2. They are subsonic, but have great range, can fly nap of the earth, and can carry up to 73,000 lbs of ordinance of all types. When necessary they can carry up to 20 Air Launched Cruise Missiles or other (long range precision ordinance, including Harpoon Missiles, JASSM-ERs, and will also include the Long Range Anti-Surface Missile ( LRASM))
    The supersonic B-1B, which can carry up to 78,0000 lbs of ordinance when including its wing pylons and can also carry up to 20 ALCMs and all sorts of precision guided weaponry. They are moderately stealthy, have heavy electronics counter measures, and are designed to penetrate moderate defense guarded sites.
    The B-2 Spirit is America's 5th generation, full stealth bomber. It is subsonic but designed to penetrate even heavily defended sites using its advanced passive and active stealth to do so. It has two large bomb bays each with one CRL within and can carry the large loads of all types of US weaponry, including nuclear, completely contained such that its stealth is not compromised.
    Enjoy, and feel free t share this video with others.

      I wish we had about 100 B-70s. At Mach 3.2 and 100,000 feet, they would be very capable even today. Here's a link to my 1/72 scale video of that model: th-cam.com/video/EZFByXhfozM/w-d-xo.html

      Yes, I have many 1/72 scale models from several nations, particularly the US, but also China, Russia, the UK, France, etc.

      @@JeffHead-IdahoUSA The XB70 Valkyrie would make the current Russian TU60 "Blackjack" look dated, it would outperform a TU60 in every dimension with perhaps the exception of low level strike :)

    The missiles on the b-52 are not tomahawks they are agm-86 cruise missiles that weigh 2,500 pounds and travel at a speed of 600 mph and have a range of 1500 miles and can be launched from the b-52 outside of anti aircraft range and each missile can carry a 3.8 megaton nuclear warhead enough firepower to wipe out all buildings and life on the island of Manhattan

    Couldn't agree with you more about keeping B-1b's I personally like the idea of converting 20 to 40 to Air to Air missile trucks carrying 80+ AMRAM or European Meteor missiles

    I have 2 1/48 scale B-1B Bombers and found a 1/48 scale B-52H from HPH Models. But I love those 1/72 scale, easier to display. Are those the Modelcollect kits?

    The B52 is a cheap cruise missile truck for low threat theatres. The B2 is for high threat theatres. What's the B1B's niche at this point?

    • @JeffHead-IdahoUSA
      @JeffHead-IdahoUSA  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Witht he types f ALCMs the B-52 can carry, they are oing to be effective in any theater, same with the B-1B and the B-2. Clearly the B-2 is also capable of penetration of high threat areas and would still be the US functional nculear triad. With its speed and low level penetration capabilitly, the B-1B could also be used in that role. All of them can also carry anti-shipping weapons and could be used at any time in that role receiving targeting from satelites, from P-8A and MQ4C communications, of E-2D or other recn capailities. So, all three have multiple uses. 20 ALCMs make te B-52 a significant threat in any theater to this day.

    • @colinboyd9121
      @colinboyd9121 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeffHead-IdahoUSA I read that the B2's serrated trailing edge is designed for low level aerodynamics and penetration ability. The USAF didn't want to go with a pure stealth flying wing design in case stealth was ever compromised. The B1B could still suit that application..

    I believe the plan is to replace B-2's first then B-52's/B-1b's the b-2's are too costly to operate... because there are only 20 of them so most of there parts are quite limited

      I built the Testor's B-2 and B-52 (though several companies make them in 1/72 scale) and the Monogram B-1B (and several companies make that one too). Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to look at them.

    • @JeffHead-IdahoUSA

      The B-1B is made by Monogram, The B-2 is made by Testors, and the B-52 is also made by Monogram. Each of these kits are also made by other companies as well.
