Nice, but in the UK this thing is retailing at nearly £300 ($471.51 in the USA), which, for a plastic board with a few lights and sliders on, is pretty ridiculous!
Is this type of machine used mainly in live sessions (like a DJ live set) to bring each new song in and trigger FX over the top (like EQ sweeps, risers, voice snippets, air horns, etc.)? I don't really see how this would be used in a studio as you would already have your track sequenced within the DAW... What exactly is this machine used for mainly?
Hey, SJC Records! You can use this control surface to control and trigger Ableton Live and virtual instruments. The transport control allows you to start/stop playback and recording, as well. The most fantastic thing I have ever seen live was a new DJ/Performer was using the new APC40 mk2 live. Not amazing in terms of performance. He accidentally nicked the Metronome button and the metronome click played during his entire set and for some reason people didn't notice or nobody bothered to tell him lol. Dubfire was at the event to and they had a good laugh, he was a solid performer. But after we told him, he was embarrassed. We call him Sick Click now lol
identical to previous model besides full color LED buttons. basically the push's led functionality in an apc40. if seeing color clips is worth it, then get this, otherwise you can get an apc40 from ebay for less than $200, easily (i got mine for $170 total).
+sheatheman It's also a lot more portable than the original APC40 and for a lot of people, myself included, that's a big deal. I can fit this in a backpack with my laptop comfortably
This will probably be my favorite toy for live play.
