I love the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona. You can get a hotel and stay right in the midst of them; and you can even go hiking pretty much anywhere you want through the amazing landscape. Do a Google search for images for Sedona, Arizona and you'll see what I'm talking about. But anywhere that you choose to go make sure that the things you are interested in are easily accessible. You don't want to spend 3/4 of a day traveling just to get to see one thing when you have a limited amount of vacation time.

The area from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, through Washington, Oregon, and Northern California is a geographical and cultural region called Cascadia. And it's all stunning.

    • @willcool713
      @willcool713 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +11

@@joshcorley9607 It's been a distinct geological and biological region for 60-65 million years, since the inland sea disappeared when the land rose and the Cascades formed. Then it's also been a distinct cultural region for as long as the continent has been inhabited by people, supporting a fairly dense population and unique regional resources. Before European colonization the area from the northern Willamette Valley and along the Columbia -- roughly where Portland, Longview and Astoria are now -- was once a thriving trade center and a diverse inter-cultural region, with people speaking more languages from more root language systems than anywhere else on Earth. There were lots of names for the area before Cascadia, but it has always been regarded as a specific region, culturally, geologically, and biologically. A lot of people still regard it that way, from one perspective or another. The attempt to create a political region around the Cascade Mountains never really made much sense, to me, except that the whole area generally has regional resources, interests, and perspectives in common. It's the Juan de Fuca tectonic plate that forms the Cascadia region, not lines on a map. But from Vancouver Island down to Redding, California, lots of people still have Cascadia flags and bumper stickers and such, proud of where they live. And it's a nice flag.

This was one of the most enjoyable reactions I've watched in a long time. I really enjoyed your astonishment and genuine appreciation of what you saw.
I grew up in California (lived there for 50 years), and have lived in Washington since 2010. Here are my responses to a couple of things you wondered about:
California: you wondered why people continue to move there, despite the myriad problems the state grapples with (taxes, real estate and rent prices, wildfires, homelessness, and so on). My personal opinion is that the pleasant weather is a big reason (although that is changing). It's Goldilocks weather -- not too hot, not too cold, not too humid -- it's just right (at least, it used to be). Lots of people who've lived through brutal weather move to CA because they're sick of the snow and ice, or the heat and humidity. The variety of climates and landscapes in CA also appeals to outdoorsy types who want to enjoy the mountains AND the beaches, as both are often just an hour or two away from the main population centers. Of course, there are many other factors (like wanting to work in entertainment, high-tech, tourism, agriculture, etc), but this was my first thought.
Washington: yes, it really IS that beautiful. The clips that were featured in the video didn't even do WA justice, IMO! The WA coastline has much in common with the rocky coastlines of Oregon and California (look up photos of Neah Bay). The Olympic mountains, and Cascade mountains, the San Juan Islands and many other coastal islands, the various volcanic mountains (Rainier was the one you specifically asked about, but there is also Baker, Glacier Peak, Adams, and Mount St. Helens (which erupted in 1980!), and the inevitable lakes and waterfalls. All of this is in the wetter western half of the state. Also, you commented that you rather like the rain, so let me just say that it's not necessarily the AMOUNT of rain that western WA gets; the issue for most people seems to be the number of gray, cloudy days. Many of the overcast days aren't even rainy, but may be drizzly or misty. It's the lack of sun that makes many people feel western WA is depressing. Also, in the winter, the number of daylight hours is really short: sunrise can be as late as 8am, and sunset as early as 4:15pm. (Conversely, in the summertime, sunrise is around 5am, and sunset isn't until 9:30!) Couple that short daylight with overcast skies, and the quality of sunlight can be pretty weak and dim -- on super-cloudy days, it can seem like you're in the Arctic. I personally don't have a problem with it, but some people just can't handle the lack of sunshine. To be fair, though, the wet does make for a truly gorgeous environment. And when the sun shines brightly, the beauty will take your breath away. (By the way, the eastern half of the state also has its own brand of beauty. But it's quite different from the west side, as east-side summers are much hotter and drier, and winters are colder and snowier than the western lowlands, and the landscape is much flatter and less forested.)

Come to America. I live in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, Idaho). You will never run out of nature weekends. Hiking, fishing, hunting, wind surfing, white rapids rafting, fossil beds, caves, amazing beaches, camping and more. Seattle and Portland also have sophisticated dining and entertainments like plays, concerts, art museums. Just about all you would need or want. Both cities have large airports and ports so scheduling cruises to Alaska or Hawaii are possible. you can also drive to California in 5-6 hours. There is lots of space to live outside big cities. Pacific Northwest is mostly made up of smaller towns/cities.

I grew up in Oregon and now live in Washington and the scenery is indeed amazing. One of my state's best natural features is the San Juan Islands which was not even shown in the video. Also, Mount St. Helens is another point of interest that was not shown. The first waterfall shown in Washington is Palouse Falls, and it is beautiful.

As an Oregonian, I love your appreciation for our state. We aren't the most popular state but in my opinion we are the most underrated state. I might be biased, but I think California is the best state to visit if you want to see a little bit of everything. Famous movie/TV landmarks like Hollywood and Santa Monica Pier and Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Many theme parks like Disney and Magic Mountain which is one of the best parks for roller coasters next to Cedar Point in Ohio. The best zoo in the world San Diego Zoo and the best aquarium in the world Monterey Bay Aquarium. If you come at the right time of year you can go from surfing one day to snow skiing in Mammoth the next day. Tons of different landscapes. You can drive the 101 for coastal scenery go inland and visit the desert and drive past ancient volcanoes on your way north to death valley and you can soak in some wild hot springs in Bishop on your way up into Sequoia/ Kings Canyon and Yosemite.

As an American, I think there's one thing he glossed over too quickly look into the Great lakes region, the Great lakes are visible from outer space, they are so large, when you come to visit pick a region that you're interested in, like you mentioned Montana is a beautiful state filled with beautiful nature and wonderful history and good people. If you like small towns you will find them All over America, unless you're interested in big cities and crowds, stay away from touristy places and the costs are much higher in those places, the one thing to remember about America, is that it is bigger than you think, and there isn't a lot of public transportation so you will need to drive. ⛪👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🇺🇸💯

California should be number 1. The guy talking about pollution and litter is crazy, because he is referring to the cities around L.A. But his entire selection was based on best nature, so talking about pollution and litter in urban areas is silly. No state has the nature of California. But it is expensive because real estate is high. And Wyoming has about 90% of Yellowstone. Only a small part of Yellowstone is in Montana. But Glacier is great. Eastern Montana is not great. It is mostly flat and barren and the small towns have a big meth issue.

You should check out the same guy’s “top 10 best states to live 2022” and his “all 50 states ranked”. Finally, you should definitely react to “Top 25 US National Parks” by Touropia for best look at our parks throughout America (might have to be a 2-part reaction as it’s a tad long). YOu may have confused Washington D.c. with the State of Washington. The state of Washington is on the West Coast, with Seattle contained in it. Washington D.cC. is on the east coast. California is overpopulated in it's cities. Cities are usually not much fun for people who like nature. People are leaving California because cost of living is too high there. It seems like you enjoy the mountains, green forests and coastline more than the red rocks and desert canyons. So maybe the Northwest states would be the spot. Depending on the time you have, you could do Washington AND Oregon then head east to Idaho and Montana and maybe Yellowstone. Just pay attention to the weather and avoid the rain and snow as much as you can. Also, one problem with mountains and coastlines is that you will need to drive yourself and those curving narrow roads demand you watch the road and not the scenery.

There will always be arguments about which state is the mist beautiful! My vote is California. It is the most diverse state from the standpoint of nature and geography. It is the third largest state, after Alaska and Texas. It is unfortunately, also the most populous state, at 37 million people. It is also the wealthiest state based on Gross domestic product. If it were a nation it would be about the 5th or 6th wealthiest nation. It has the most National parks of any state, and in one day you can visit mountains, desert and ocean.

this video might be displaying some prejudice against California that is not entirely accurate. Other videos doing similar ratings put California at number 1. California is a leading state in the fight against pollution, leads in recycling, leads in water reuse systems. The gasoline is more expensive here because gas stations have to provide less polluting gasoline. It is a leading state in solar energy and wind energy, and has strong environmental standards. it is considered a very liberal state politically, and progressive in its environmental commitment.
I am not sure why he said the things he said as he is not correct.
There is a homeless problem but the state is not drowning in them. It is a very large state, and if you avoid summers,, when children are out of school and families are traveling to the national parks , you can visit the coastal redwoods, the central California redwoods, Yosemite, Sequoia National park with less crowding.

I am a member of team Michigan. Michigan, I will not say is the most beautiful state in the Country, but I will say that it is in the conversation. Michigan has all four seasons. There is nothing more beautiful then seeing the trees covered in snow like a snow globe. The Fall Colors are immaculate. We have a healthy mix of Conifer Forest, Deciduous Trees, and Mixes of both. We have rocky terrain, we have sandy terrain, forest, and amazing skylines. You can see the Sunrise out of Lake Huron and see the Sunset over Lake Michigan in the same day. You can go skiing, four wheeling, jetski, and snowmobile. The Upper Peninsula is one of the best kept secrets in the entire country. The inland lakes like Houghton Lake, Torch Lake, and many more are some of the best in the country. There is literally a little bit for everyone. That doesn't touch all the history that is all over the place.

I absolutely agree 100%. Michigan is often overlooked, but truly has some of the most beautiful coastlines and natural areas in the country. The Grand Canyon is absolutely grand and it's definitely worth seeing, but how many times can you go to the Grand Canyon and feel the same "wow" factor? In Michigan, I've lived here for most of 46 years and I still find new places to explore and visit that are simply breathtaking.

I'm going to give you a little travel tip. I'm a native of Utah, and also lived in Colorado.
I have been to most of the Mountain state national parks.
You can fly into Salt Lake City UT, and rent a car. From Salt Lake you can easily drive all the way to Glacier Park MT almost Canada, then go to Yellowstone WY also see Grand Teton in ID, come back to UT and drive to Moab for Arches and Canyonland you can drive to 4 corners (New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Utah meet at corners) and see Mesa Verde then head to AZ to the Grand Canyon, drive back to Utah and go to Zion, Bryce and Capital Reef, then back to Salt Lake City. The whole trip can be done in around 14 days. It is some long drives, but lots to see on the way.
The draw back would be that if you did it in summer, Southern Utah and Arizona are extremely hot. Over 105 F.
You could break it to two trips one in early spring, around April, and one in Summer for the Northern states. Too hard for you to drive in Northern states in winter.

I’m from North Carolina and I think it’s beautiful here. I traveled a bit in my youth and Yellowstone was one of the most beautiful places I visited. But timing is key to visiting there because it’s extremely crowded in summer there and you can’t really visit in winter, too much snow. I picked my time carefully. You want to go before schools let out for summer break usually in June. So the last couple of weeks in May are good. As I was leaving the hordes of summer were starting to come in.

The creator of the original video gives a lot of false information. First, there is no way California is overcrowded with its 403,932 km2 of land and 20,047 km2 of water. The 4 biggest cities maybe overcrowded, but California has 23437.5 sq miles (60702.846336 km) of wilderness. More than 94 percent of California's population lives in just 5% of it's total land size. So ignore the false information. the original content creator has several other videos with false or inaccurate statistics, which are misleading.

In a rough, descending order of recommendation:
If you want more of the urban vibe and you don't mind spending the money, I think New England is the place to visit. There's still plenty of scenery, but you have decent rail service between cities, and decent municipal transportation in most of them.
If you want more scenic vistas and wilderness, but still some urban experiences, you'll need to drive, but the West Coast is likely more your bag. Texas or the Southwest has much of the same mix as the West Coast, but the scenery is vastly different and less varied. Florida is a region of its own. Vegas is its own thing, too. The Gulf Coast, especially New Orleans, is different from the rest of the South. Charleston and Savanah have a classic Southern charm of their own. Colorado is another good area for both urban and wilderness experiences, all along the Rocky Mountains. Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, and Alaska are all sure bets for rugged wilderness, if that's your thing. There's also the Shenandoah Valley, Appalachia, and the Smokey Mountains, which are all stunning. Acadia National Park up in Maine is beautiful, as is the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and much of the Great Lakes region (though I've never been to either), which also have cities to visit. And we can't forget the absolute wonder of Utah and all the SW canyon lands. And while the Midwest doesn't get a ton of tourism, as the sights are more spread out, it's the core of the country, the farmland at our heart. And the Midwest culture and cuisine is its own, for the locals mostly, but who are more than willing to share.
Big place, the US. Hard to do a larger area without a car, except anywhere from New England down to DC, imo. Some cities, like LA, you'd need a car, too, or you're paying for Ubers everywhere.
When I travel around here, I drive and bring camping gear to boondock on public land a lot, with only short hotel stays in cities to see those sights.
    My two cents.

The video is made by someone from the Northeast, so he sounds very biased about California. There is next to no pollution, so that is utter BS. I lived in California for 25 years, both in Southern California (Los Angeles area) and in Northern California (San Francisco area) for 18 years. It is the most beautiful state in the country, which the most diversion, which includes the best beaches in the 48 states, the the best national parks, the Sierra's Mountains with tons of skiing resorts, the San Diego area, the Bay area (San Francisco Bay area with the Golden Gate Bridge), the wine country just north of San Fran, the tallest mountain (Mt Whitney) in the lower 48 states, the Redwoods (tallest trees in the world), the Sequia tress (the oldest tress in the world), Yosemite (one of the top 3 National parks in the lower 48 states), and so much more. And his comments about being over populated is not too real, although going to a place that is very popular at the peak of popularity (like going to the closer ski resorts on the weekend or to the close beaches in Southern California on the weekend in the summer, do result in lots of people being there. But keep in mind that California is the 3rd largest state also. There is so much to see in that one state, so my recommendation is if you have to pick one state to visit and tour, this is the best one. In addition, you will find good weather most of the time as well, whereas, if you go to Washington outside of July and August, there will be gray skies with pretty constant rain (usually light rain). My son has lived up there since 2006 (he works for Microsoft), so I have been there a lot of times, and at different times of the year.
If you have any extra time, and can visit more than one state, the Grand Canyon (it is in Arizona, the state next to California on the southern end of California) is a marvel of the world, and at all possible, go see it. It is the largest single gorge in the world, and I recommend staying there at least overnight right at the South Rim Village, rather than driving to it and leaving the same day. It is fairly far away from just about anywhere. I live in Phoenix, AZ, and it is about a 5 hour drive to get to the South Rim from my house. My daughter lives in Southern California (the Los Angeles metro area), and we go there 1-3 times a year (a 6-7 hour drive), and having lived there a while ago (I used to work at JPL in Pasadena), I am quite familiar with the freeway system there, which is the biggest metro freeway system in the US, so I have no problem driving there. If you go there, you should get a freeway map (I get my free maps at AAA) to help you understand where most freeways go and how they connect. Of course, you can just use your cell phone, and keying a destination, and follow that, but I always like to know where I am going before I get into the car. Keep in mind that in the US, there is very little public transportation, especially outside the bigger cities, but in the Eastern half of the US (in cities like New York City and Chicago), there is decent public transportation. Out west (west of the Mississippi), there is next to no public transportation, with the exception of San Francisco (Northern CA).
California is 1,000 miles long, so if you do go to CA, think about what part(s) of CA you would like to visit. San Diego, CA is quite nice, and there is lots to see and do there, so I would recommend 3-4 nights there (2-3 full days). The spend 3-4 nights in the Los Angels/Orange County area, where there is lots to see and do as well, including Hollywood, as well as the very fine beaches, including New Port beach and whale watching daily cruise out on the ocean. I have done many of these, and they have always been so delightful. Then spend 3-4 nights in the San Francisco area, and take a bay boat ride that goes out to and under the Golden Gate Bridge (was the longest suspension bridge in the world until 1998). Then spend 3-4 nights in the nation park area, where there are 3 very wonderful ans scenic parks, which includes Yosemite. And if you have any time left, go to Lake Tahoe from the park area and spend 1-3 nights there. The lake is too cold for swimming, but you can take boat rides in the summer, and you can drive around the whole lake too. It is 100 miles long (160km). So, driving all the way around would take many hours. If you have any more time, then go to the coast north of San Francisco, and tour one of the several Redwood parks there. These are right on the coast, which looks like the coastal scenes you saw like the Oregon coastal scenes. But the Redwoods are also unique in the world.
If you come to the US, a car is a must! If you want to know any more, or need assistance, just feel free contact me at vlavalle@ix.netcom.com.

Im from Massachusetts and tbh Texas is not Even on my list of places to visit lets go to Puerto Rico, Hawaii Illinois
Wisconsin Idaho I mean anywhere in this country. There's amazing places to see America. The sky is in Arizona and Nevada gorgeous, the mountains of California. There's too many states to actual pick just one Where I wanna go to be honest, I've always dreamed of getting in my car. just driving until I had no more gas money. And then deciding this little tiny town. Little country town to just say ok, let's stay here its sweet . And being so happy there was a movie with julia roberts, sleeping with the Enemy, where she just drove to this tiny little town and decided to start over. which I know is just a movie. But watching that made me want to go to a small town like her . Get in my car and drive to Some Small Little Town That I Don'T Know Anybody in to Start Over.Cuz she moved to a great lil town It was just your typical small American town. And I actually have found a fondness in my heart for those small towns. Even though I've never lived in them. But I love to visit all of them.

All the States have beautiful parks. You can camp and hike at parks and see trees in every state. I am not going to suggest where to go, just that if you wish to visit the USA, consider the climate and the best season of the places you wish to go. So when to visit is just as important to where to visit.
Being from Europe, the USA in the summer season can be very hot, 90-100-110(F) or 32-38-43(C) during the day. Also consider the elevation of the terrain you wish to hike or bike in. Many western states have far higher elevation, meaning less oxygen, than in the eastern states.
The food choices at fast food drive ins are basically the same nationally, but the menus at regional local restaurants vary a lot. So if you are a food fanatic that may determine where to go.
If you want to see as much as the USA as possible in the quickest amount of time, take long distance sleeper Amrak trains. If you wish to see a specific areas and National Parks, you will have to rent a car which will also require getting insurance. I would also suggest getting travel insurance that covers health care. Get those arrangements made before traveling to the USA.

Seems like you’re falling for for some right wing myths about California. Poor people and the middle class pay less in taxes in California than they would in Texas, whereas rich Texans pay less in taxes than rich Californians. Instead of criminalizing homelessness like most Republican states, California actually offers more services for homeless people, which attracts homeless people from across the country. Also, the fact that it doesn’t get too hot in the summer or too cold or rainy in the winter attracts them as well. Many states deal with homelessness by rounding them up and giving them bus tickets to California. Let’s not also pretend that homeless is unique to California; it’s an issue that affects every single city across the country. People continue to come to California for the amazing weather, high-paying jobs, beautiful scenery, and open-minded attitudes. If California is so bad, why does it have the best public university system? Or the 4th lowest obesity rate, the 2nd highest life expectancy or the most profitable corporations in the entire world?

I don’t know why he talks so much crap about California but none of the others. Also California is not even in the top ten states with the most litter. We do have the most air pollution, but you only see that in places like LA or parts of the Central Valley, not in the mountains or beaches or regular small towns. The redwood trees in Northern California are a must see for everyone. They are stunning. It looks like a movie set, you can’t believe the landscape is real.
Driving the California coast is arguably one of the most beautiful and environmentally diverse drives in the world.
Also yes California has a homeless problem just like many other states but we are not drastically worse then some of the others. We have the most total but that’s because we have the largest total population. The homeless are only in certain areas and they account for less than half of 1% of our population. people make it seem like they are everywhere and you can’t visit and enjoy our beautiful state.
I was born and raised in Northern California. I have visited 14 other states in my life and although they were great, I will never call anywhere else but California home.

Texas is great because of its major cities, culture, food, etc. However, the majority of its land is rolling hills and prairies. Around the edges, it can get pretty diverse and it can be nice compared to some states, but it just doesn’t hold a candle to the diversity of the mountain west and west coastal regions.
