The most unrealistic part of this game is a local council actually sending someone out to fix the road problems Wouldn't have Wanksy still running about drawing bellends over potholes otherwise What a shame to see a bridge review with such a low score, one might say it was a dam shame
Hey thanks for playing my game again! Really love watching an actual civil engineer's experience. :) I was wondering where the extra sales were coming from, but I somehow missed this until now. Lots of fun to watch.
That is NOT a total station. It is an auto level. It can literally only tell you if things are level in a 360°. A total station would do totally everything including angles, trunions, distance shots, prism tracking, radio communication with a field tablet, so many more things. Auto levels are like the basic of the basic of survey equipment and this one appears to be modeled after the old spectra AL22 series which I believe only had 24x's magnification
I went to a racetrack when I was younger. It doubled as a campsite for people that wanted to stay the weekend. I walked around the track drinking a 26er of Sambuca at midnight. By the time I finished the race I saw the bends
Surveyor here! That thing on the tripod isn't a total station, it's an optical level. A total station can rotate its lens on a horizontal and vertical axis, while optical and digital levels can only rotate on a vertical axis. You can also see that it is a an optical level because it's basically just a scope on a mount. A digital level would have some sort of case around the scope to house the electronics and a screen.
Dumpys are typically only used when talking about the old school (dumpy brand) levels. This is obvious a cheap 24 power auto level modeled after the spectra series. Transits have scopes that allow you to do plunge
13:25 The fact that the problem is a giant pit in the road makes me think that those surveyors were either incompetent or non-existent and the guy who claimed that he hired them was lying to save money.
Ironically, in the US, roads are intended to make you put some amount of steering or throttle input in as you can get tunnelvision or grey out and become far more likely to cause accidents. Perks of living in a country with states bigger than countries.

Hey RCE, I've been watching you for a while now, and I just wanted to say that I'm going to high school next year, and you inspired me to take an engineering class! You make it seem really fun and interesting, and I thought I might as well give it a shot!
I'm a real landsurveyor, and that device is not a total station. Its a "spirit level" (google translate answer). A total station can rotate on horizontal and vertical. The "spirit level" can only rotate horizontal. Total station is used to measure the X, Y and Z(height) coordinates. The "Level" measure only heights.
Yoooooo I think about this game all the time! It's back?!?!?! Don't usually comment of the regular vids but this one was a blast from the past. Love when you try new things and find hidden gems. I encourage you to take more risks with games like this in the future!
This is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The way you are speaking as if it is realistic. Watching it in bed, I had to leave because I woke up my wife laughing.
I'd actually like to see how the developers thought people would do it like one thing I've learnt in life is that as long as you technically pased you pased 💀😂🤣
That is clearly a bridge. We see the water going under it. It just so happens the bottom of the bridge happens to be right at the water line. If there was a bit of a drought, you wouldn't even question this sine you would see some separation between the water and the bridge.
Day 34 of asking RCE to play Surviving Mars 22:06 just found out the meaning of those series of corners in the Silverstone circuit! Engineering is useful even for racing!
@@jackm2379 Of course it was a generalization. But a dam that tall and that thin (you can see that the back side is just as straight as the front side) would certainly fail.

I don't want to be this guy, but as a surveyor I feel responsible to tell you that this is not a total station but a transit level(for those who don't know a transit level is mostly used to determine or indicate heights).

Nah, they sent someone only to have to have a scapegoat.
In my town the solution to potholes is just to paint half the street green and call it a bike lane.

As a civil engineering technician, that quote about "people only know about it if you messed up." hits home.
As a mechanical engineer, I can confirm multi discipline coordination goes exactly like that one level.
The return of Sebil?!? Nice!
As an electrical engineer, I can confirm multiple disciplines project does have that little budget

As a licensed Civil Engineer in the US, and a ex-field surveyor, I must correct you Matt.
That is a very clearly a theodolite *not* a total station.
I believe in a previous video he established that he knew the difference, but had forgotten the term for what it actually was.
That’s clearly a dumpy level and not a theodolite or a total station
I was about to comment the same thing 😂 ... Is it a transit level or theodolite? He did correct himself later on tho

"if you want the job done right, do it yourself" was the proper saying lol, but close enough
It's unbelievably realistic! Admit it, instead of playing a game you just got a video of a normal day in the life of a civil engineer.
I never knew engineering was so dangerous, thank you for your sacrifice

I'm so glad this game is back on the channel
The dam is still a bridge. "A bridge is a structure carrying a pathway or roadway over a depression or obstacle (such as a river)".
@8:21 Love the use of Shoresy
OMGGGG finally this game again 🥰 It seems like it has so many levels now, can't wait for your next videos on it!

0:33 thats a grenade launcher. not a shotgun. specifically a GP-25 under barrel grenade launcher made for Kalashnikovs, but zip tied to a board
15:15 As a dam, that would get a 0 / 10. A dam needs to have a curve to withstand the pressure; that dam would fail immediately.
Not all dams are curved, it depends on the type.
@@jackm2379 Of course it was a generalization. But a dam that tall and that thin (you can see that the back side is just as straight as the front side) would certainly fail.
The background isn't necessarily from Google Maps, lots of governments make free orthophotomaps of their territory available to use.
