    In the beginning, i was worried that they were gonna make a big fuss about the whole prik situation and create unnecessary drama just like typical gls do but i love that both pin and anil didn't blame prik. They were so understanding and mature about it.

      I loved that too. Definitely not what I was expecting, but I'm glad they could see the situation for what it was.

    I felt the same way initially about the whole thing they’re doing with Prik as you guys, but thinking about it more, I kind of like this too. Prik was a great character in the book but she didn’t feel like a “real” one, and more like an NPC almost. She doesn’t really have her own story arch in the books and is just there as support, which is fine, but it does make her feel one dimensional. I think this, combined with what’s coming with Prik’s role in Kuea’s downfall later, makes her feel more like a character cause she now has a low point to build off of. I’m really hoping this change wasn’t for nothing tho and and they kind of explore her own sense of guilt with feeling like she let her best friend down, even tho she was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Even if it’s like a couple lines about it, I’ll be happy.
    Or maybe I’m just really hoping for an Anin-Prik flashback about their childhood and showing they’re best friends and not just servant and princess, which is kind of what it feels like in the show. You don’t really get as strong of a sense how much they mean to each other in the show without the context of the books. I want them to show their relationship a bit more, like Anin teaching Prik to read and their mutual care, so this feels like an opportunity to do that. With 4 episodes left, I dunno if it’s gonna happen, but I think they’ve laid the groundwork for it so I’m more willing forgive what they did with Prik’s character this episode if that is actually what they’re gonna do with this. Here’s to hoping 😭

      great point. at first was confused with Prik behaviour cause in the book she would have went to Anil and tell her everything. however we have a Prik that is dealing with her own position and the people above her. She feels a huge deal of guilt for confirming the truth and in a way probably feels responsibility to the current predicament. I like that we getting more dimension with Prik and her role and emotions. She is more than just a loveable side character. She considers Anil and Pin to be her family As well we get another example of class system. Prik is a servant, back in those days servants never left that household unless given permission to. They were basically slaves. It is a reminder of Thai society back in the day. I think this sets up what will unfold as you stated with Kuea. I hoping these next episodes give more nuance and fleshes the story more. The book was nice read but things fit too perfectly at times.

      @@sundawg911 Exactly! There’s real opportunity here to tell the story with more nuance and realism than how it works out in the books, and I’m cautiously optimistic that we’ll get to see it all play out in a way that’ll feel satisfying. My only only worry is if they just made this change for no reason other than for added drama and they’re really going nowhere with this. But this entire sequence of events was my favorite in the books and so far the series has exceeded my expectations, so hopefully this continues in future episodes!

      I agree with you. I felt like Prik was just a NPC in the book but this series is very realistic in portrayal of Anin, Pin and Prik. Anin isn't completely perfect, Pin isn't completely subservient and Prik isn't completely truthful. It kinda makes sense to have Pia on Anin's side. I think Pia is like a subtle representation of the "western" side of Anin. She took care of Anin in the UK and is influenced by western culture so she is obviously more progressive than any servant in the palace. She understands Anin's mindset the most but Prik understands Anin's emotions the most. That's why Prik had a hard time with telling Anin the truth. I mean there's nothing more painful than bringing bad news to your best friend and you'd be even more afraid for her if she does something and you're not sure that she will make right decisions.

      I would definitely love to get more into Priks story. I think the addition of Pia (although it took awhile for us to accept it) definitely helped give Prik more dimension as well.

    I totally understand what they did with prik In this episode. Remember that pia only works for the prince and anin, she doesn't owe aunty patt anything. But prik works for aunty pat and anin....it just hurts because she's anins bestfriend. Let's not forget she's a slave. It's not because anin is nice to her, she's still a slave

    Seeing Prik cry truly broke my heart. I'm not sure why they added it so Aunty Pad explicitly confirmed the relationship from prik and seeing them together it feels almost unnecessary because I like how all she needed was to see the lipstick and Anin's ring to put it together in the book now it feels almost like spoon feeding.
    I agree i think they are gonna turn the later scenes with prik and the brother getting dirt on khun kuea as prik "making it up to them" for telling Aunty Pad about them which if that's the case idk how to feel because I like how it was originally her overall loyalty to Anin and friendship but I guess we will have to see.
    Part of me thinks with Prik they are trying to emphasize the status difference as she is a servant especially since the main argument for Anin and Pin not to be together is ultimately status.
    Lastly, I will say that I like how they made Pin rebel more because in the book it was just Aunty Pad confronting Pin then next chapter Aunty Pad and Pin talking to Anin's mom about marriage while Anin and the brother were there and that's how Anin found out. I like how Pin fights/rebels in her own way a little even though in the book I completely understood why she didn't

    • @biggayenergypod
      @biggayenergypod  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! Any way they can get Pin to rebel more, i am all for it! I feel like Pad was on a power trip and wanted someone else to be blamed for her finding out so she isn't the only bad guy in this situation.

  • @justanotherfangirl9929
    @justanotherfangirl9929 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    So this was my favorite episode of the show by far! XD
    Just few comments: Anil was immediately ok with Prik! She didn't need any convincing she said she knows Prik isn't at fault (and then blamed herself). As for "not making Prik the bad guy"- 1. It can't be Pia, because Pad would never question Pia, she knows exactly who Anil's confidante would be. Also, the audience wouldn't be as emotionally involved if it's Pia. 2. As much as you like Prik and want the best for her, P'Nam deserves these scenes and got to show her acting abilities which for once weren't being limited only for comedy! Girl has the talent and I'm so glad she finally got to show it!
    Also- Prik is very scared of Pad (already cannon to the book too) and Pad is basically her boss too, she can't go against her. I think it was a very interesting scenario to show and explore and also tells us a lot more about Pad for her choosing to do this. She knowingly isolated not only Pin but actually all 3 girls which in my opinion is the most evil thing she could've done.
    The only place where I agree with you on the Prik point is at the end where she gossips with Pia and it's unclear why she didn't go to Anil or how she got that info... They should've switched Prik with Koi there. It makes a lot more sense too since Koi serves in the Bua Palace directly under Pad and would have access to this information, unlike Prik.

    • @morbidgirl6808
      @morbidgirl6808 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only Pia and Prik know the truth about the relationship of AninPin. I think that's why Prik told the news about engagement so Pia can deliver to Anin. I don't think Koi is aware and I doubt Prik would try to tell Koi about her best friend's secret. Koi wouldn't be as alert as Pia.

    • @justanotherfangirl9929
      @justanotherfangirl9929 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @morbidgirl6808 of course Koi doesn't know, I thought that she should simply tell Pia as gossip, not knowing it's important. Honestly I assume that's how Prik found out to begin with (by Koi telling her, not knowing it's important). Aunt Pad definitely wouldn't have told Prik.

    • @morbidgirl6808
      @morbidgirl6808 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@justanotherfangirl9929 Well, Pia is a part of Grand palace as a servant and that confrontation took place in it so Koi probably was escorting Patt and told Prik about engagement.

    With every reaction i watch from you guys it just makes me feel more and more that you dont really like the show. I hate to say it because i of course dont have to watch but i enjoy seeing other peoples feelings on the shows i watch. And i was just hoping youd get more into it as it went on.
    I thought this was one of the best episodes of the entire show. So well acted and emotional and well paced. Everyone from the writers to directors to the actors did an AMAZING job. But then i see your reactions and i feel like you rarely come out of an episode with positive things to say. About any of it. I'm not even sure you said anything positive about this episode and if you did it's overshadowed by you instantly saying you didnt enjoy this ep as soon as it had ended. It doesnt even seem like youre enjoying it while youre watching. I feel as if you skip a lot of the good parts and choose to focus on the parts you didn't like.
    Beckys speech at the end was fantastic and she worked so damn hard on it and compared to Gap she's grown sooooo much and you guys maybe mentioned a sentence or two about it. It's just so odd to me.
    I dont think there is anything wrong with critiquing a show. Like AT ALL. Not all shows are perfect but i genuinely dont understand why continue watching a show that youre not really into. Or that you want to continuously compare to the book and when it doesnt show or go with the things youre comparing it to you complain about it.
    I genuinely want to know what are the good things that you actually like about the show and what keeps you coming back to it each episode?

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feedback for our reaction episodes. We appreciate your honesty and passion about this series. To be frank, we do not dislike the Loyal Pin. Not at all. We loved the novels so much we spent literal hours discussing them and have been looking forward to this FreenBecky series adaptation.
      Here is a small list of what we appreciate about the Loyal Pin that could apply to every single episode:
      1. The production value is unparalleled. It's clear everyone, and we mean EVERYONE from cast to crew, put a tremendous amount of effort into adapting the Loyal Pin into a series. The directing is beautiful. In this particular episode they did a lot of creative framing during the scene. For example when Anin was sketching Pin and talking to Prik, the director blocked Prik between Anin's arms while Anin was sketching. So it almost looks like Prik is being "squeezed" by Anin which is a reflection of how Prik feels in that moment holding onto all that guilt. The costume and props department both deserve awards for all the stunning detail they add to every scene. Truly, novels could be written about the production value alone.
      2. The acting. Now, I know I don't need to preach to you about the acting because you can see the skill from space, but I'll do it any way. But first, quick moment of appreciation for the casting department because every single actor is perfect for their role, even Kua the character we (not so) lovingly refer to as an STD because he is the worst and you can't get rid of him easily. Freen and Becky have matured as actors while maintaining their unique chemistry. Sometimes, I literally have no words because their performance leaves me speechless. The cloth metaphor scene was the moment I have been waiting for the entire series and Becky went above and beyond. I'm confident the rest of this scene when it picks up in the next episode will be just as powerful.
      3. Prik... okay, maybe this doesn't apply to the one episode Prik wasn't in. But still, Prik.
      4. This is a queer period romance done right. This is a genre of media the straights have taken for granted since the dawn of time and it's about time the LGBTQ community got a serious TV show in this style.
      5. The pacing of the story. One could argue it feels slow at times, and that's valid if you're used to modern TV. But that isn't what this is (please refer to #4). The pacing is on purpose. We are on the journey of falling in love, pining, enjoying the honeymoon, feeling heartbreak, etc. The characters have real time to GROW and BREATH and just BE. I can't think of another TV series that devoted this much time to true character development, but the Loyal Pin series does it right and well.
      In general, our reaction videos are mostly first impressions and whatever we are feeling in the moment while we watch the episode for the very first time. Because we've only seen the episode once, we miss a ton of details and don't have enough time to fully process the episode in fine detail. Whereas our recap/ discussion episodes are much more in depth because to prep for these discussions we watch the episode multiple times, break down each scene, and scour through the good, bad, and everything in between. If you want an example of what that looks like, compare these reaction videos to our Gap or Blank discussion episodes.
      Perhaps part of the issue with the Loyal Pin reactions in general are that we film on Sunday when the episode releases. Unfortunately we both have jobs outside of the podcast and work on Sundays so we are more tired compared to when we film our regular episodes (we don't typically film on the same days we work our day jobs but we made an exception for the Loyal Pin because we can't wait to watch it every week). We try our best not to let that fatigue come through when we film, but we are imperfect human beings just trying our best. So we're sorry if that's affecting the reaction.
      Would it be helpful if we structured our discussion at the end of the reaction and made it a point to review what we liked in more detail?
      Thanks again for watching and taking the time to share your perspective.

    I just saw your reaction on this episode. I actually watch your reaction videos on loyal pin every now and then because you guys read the book. As someone who read the book, you'll be knowledgeable about the story and if they are conveying the feelings in the book appropriately.
    Unfortunately, I feel like your reactions are more focus on finding what's in the book and what's added in the series. I do not feel like you try to see the series at all.
    I do understand that after the reaction videos, you discuss indept about the episode, I would like to suggest to reserve those critisism about which is not in the book and which one is an added thing in that time.
    This is a reaction video, you should be reacting on their acting, the scenes, the feeling you felt on those scenes. I can't believe you guys didn't feel emotional on some of the scenes and kinda laugh off those scenes as well.
    Overall, this is your channel. You can do what you want with it, but as your viewer, those are just my observation and suggestion to somehow make your reaction videos be more "reaction videos".
    Still thank you for watching The Loyal Pin.

      Thank you for your feedback we appreciate you taking the time to comment. Since we've read the novels and analyzed them in depth it is impossible for us to watch the series without the background knowledge from the source material. Therefore when we watch an episode for the first time, we typically point out the changes we notice.
      Changes are not inherently good or bad.
      Changes are not inherently critiques.
      Changes are part of the adaptation process when converting a novel into a live action series.
      We enjoy discussing the behind the scenes process for TV including scriptwriting choices that lead to differences from the source material. This process really interests us which is why we bring them up. We do our best to limit in depth discussions to the end like you pointed out, but when we watch we get very excited and want to talk to each other immediately about what we notice.
      If you do not enjoy our reaction video style that's 100% okay. We're confident there are other content creators out there with a style more akin to what you are looking for, and if not, consider making your own! The more Loyal Pin content, the better!

    I've watch you off and on for a while now. it's more like you don't take any show you watch as a real serious drama. It's more like you get off on criticizing and making fun of the characters and writing. which is okay, if you're honest and say you hate the show. You don't seem to understand a low budget production which has to make some sacrifices to get made. Very rarely do i actually hear you say how good the acting is. a little comedy is fine but you laugh and make fun of even serious scenes.

    I think it’s not helpful when you constantly compare the series and the book. You are reacting to the series, not the book. I don’t really care what elder brother Anan knows or didn’t know in the final scene. I also agree with some other comments that this version of Prik is an improvement as in she’s more of a real person here. Missing for me is the acknowledgment of the performance of Charm as the Aunt. She is such a complex character and not a one dimensional villain.
    The last scene was amazing- the acting and the dialogue were top notch. The theme of fabric ran through the last 2 episodes- so beautiful and thoughtful.
    All in all I’m loving this series.

      Thank you for sharing your opinion. We like to compare the two because the book is the source material and it is interesting to see how it has been adapted. Most of that talk has been reserved to the very end in the spoiler section so you don't have to watch that part if you don't want to 😊
