no, it sucked. they only cheered when they were watching Furia, and the grand final after Furia was eliminated was so dead it was actually sad. they weren't into it at all unless it was Furia, regardless of if it was a nice play or a clutch moment. I love Brazil, but the crowd in Rio was a joke.

@@zanesc01 Lmfao, tell me you’ve never been at a CSGO major without telling me. Nearly every major host certainly had their favourites, but they still cheered for great plays when they happened. Quit defending people when they don’t need your defense. Paris major was amazing. Boston was amazing. All Katowices. Kraków. Berlin. Stockholm. They were all so much better. It’s been said and agreed upon my so many that the Rio major was the worst major in history.

I've been a few esports events but the atmosphere at Kato can't be compared. It is way, WAY louder than it seems on stream. I've been to 2 LEC finals (League of Legends), Berlin Major 2019 and some LEC studio games. Kato was by far the best atmosphere, the chants, the waves, the noise and the commentary was insane.
If you've never been in Kato and you have the option I suggest you go there. Prices are low for food and drinks, hotels were cheap and flights were cheap too. Definitely the best experience you'll get even if you're on a budget. The people are also extremely friendly.
Can someone explain why CSGO is this popular? Was it the first 5v5? or the first game to have an esports league?

Probably on the beach. Many of those people who were cheering were from another state in Brazil and after spending several days cheering, they probably went to take a day off to enjoy the beach.
