    The original full scale Fokker DVII wing is actually quite complicated. Other than the ribs between the Cabane struts, all of the ribs are different as they get thinner toward the tip. I understand for a plane like this the kit is better off being simpler construction so they will get completed.

    The main reason Fokker airplanes are so popular is because of how the name sounds. The owners just love it when they hear people say, "Look at that little Fokker go!"

    My grandfather was a WW1 veteran . He served in France in the US Army Air Service. After the war they changed the name to the US Army Air Corps. He got kut in the mid 1920s. I used to have his original photo album but it got lost in some moves over the decades. One picture in particular meant a lot to me. It was a pic of him leaning on his Nieuport 28 fighter somewhere in France during the war.
    They make a full size replica of the Nieuport 28. Id love to build/ fly one.

    Complete curiosity question here -- what is the benefit of building a replica at 80% scale? Is it really that big of a money saver when it's that close to full size? Or is it to get around some FAA rule or something?

      I saw a different video where the owner of the company said they scaled down some models to reduce the weight of the aircraft to fit into the light sport craft category.

      @rdks38 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I just purchased a DR-1 from Robert. I asked him when I first contacted him regarding the less then 100% scales and his answer was due to the current "modern" engine options not being as big in "size" vs equal power like they were back in the day. So per say the 80% were better matched in relative size over all keeping things relative in scale.

    Was going to build one of these, after bringing 3 ultralights home and never flying any of them, and them taking up a lot of space and being a hassle to move around, I switched to quadcopters. Fully aerobatic, fit in your hand, your backpack is your hanger, you can carry them anywhere including overseas (fly those Alps!), and best of all, they are fully aerobatic and your feet stay ont he ground, with your eyes up in the air. Crash all you want, no medical bills. Did I mention, about 1/5th the cost for a high end system? And a whole lot of work. You'll never finish building this. I'm not joking. You will never... finish... building... an airplane.
