David, do yourself a HUGE favor. Go visit an Ayreon concert. It is a life changer. I witnessed the show last year and I divide times now into time before Ayreon and times A.D Ayreon. More than 60 nationalities in the audience the world over from Australia to South America. Sold out in five minutes..... The whole city turned into "Ayreon vibes". People drinking Ayreon beer etc etc. 25 main singers on the podium. It is like music celebration day. The world top singing to you. Can you imagine what that does to you? And Arjen? The mastermind God behind all of this.....combining all these Gods and Goddesses of the human voice together with this epic band from the heavens.....I'm getting religious after all 😅😉
The narrator is well-known for his role as Q in Star Trek. Among the vocalists are Fish (ex-Marillion), Damien Wilson, Simone Simons, Anneke van Giersbergen. I wonder if Arjen Anthony Lucassen was inspired by the opera Zauberflöte/Magic Flute by W.A. Mozart, in which is the famous aria O Isis und Osiris.
Never know, of course, but this probably bodes well for the Amazing Flight reaction (which is also the next song on the album). 🙂Good point about getting the singers; this show actually had at least a good number of the singers who recorded for the album, which came out in '98.
Ayreon is such a magical project.. I've loved them for quarter of a century.. great choice of John de Lancie (Q) for the narrator. I dream of seeing one of their special rare concerts one day
Glad that you enjoyed this David. I'm pleasantly surprised by the high score. My wife and I went to the last Ayreon concert this past September. It was absolutely amazing. As others have mentioned, Ayreon shows only happen in Tilburg, NL at 013 Poppodium. Aryeon shows are an event in Tilburg. Arjen Lucassen (the guy behind Ayreon) has said in interviews that there will be Ayreon shows in September 2025. This should be officially announced in the coming months. I'll make a note to give you a heads up when the shows are officially announced.
They planned for 3 shows last year but the tickets sold out so quickly that they added 2 more shows. So 5 shows in 3 days. Ayreon only plays in the Netherlands. The next show will hopefully happen in a few years from now.

To me Ayreon Universe is unmatchable but this show is also great of course I have the last one pending to watch curious to see if it claims the top spot
Glad to see you revisit Ayreon and this time with a not ballad lol You can see now the amount of talent involving this project, even if it's not for everyone it's hard to deny it This is the show that tells the story of the Electric Castle album from beginning to end, plus a few bonus tracks from other Arjen Lucassen various projects This song is the first and serves as presentation of most main characters (not all of them). The next one Amazing Flight introduces the rest including Arjen himself taking an hilarious part The production is awesome as with every Ayreon show and the cast is full of great musicians and vocalists from the scene I'd also love to be at one of these shows but since it's in the Netherlands and I'm in the other end of the world I'm gonna have to be happy with watching them in video for now
