    For those who don’t know, Daniel is currently playing a super high stakes heads up (one vs one) poker battle against a player who is widely regarded to be the best heads up player in the world. They play 3 times a week and they have swings of hundreds of thousands of dollars per day.

    Hey Levy. Quick question - when you say you win the bishop after knight moves to b3 in the Englund gambit around 37:08, how do you proceed to defend your rook from the same knight advancing? I'm always coming unstuck at this point. Engine suggests queen to e4 after black knight goes to d5 but isn't that just losing then when knight goes to c7? Thanks.

  • @coosoorlog
    @coosoorlog 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    He makes a good point about wanting to win fast when playinga gambit. It's not quite correct but the more general idea behind it is: you need to capitalize on the advantage of development relatively early because otherwise it get increasingly more likely as each move passes that your opponent stabilizes the position and is just material up. Now, capitalizing on the advantage might just mean getting the pawn back in a slightly advantageous position. It might mean getting a strong attack that leads to mate or winning a lot of material, but it's not as common. It might mean getting a really dominating position that makes it incredibly difficult for your opponent to play, resulting in them blundering sooner or later. But you need to get something, otherwise your opponent will just eventually win with the pawn advantage.

Ill be tuned for more stuff but this videos where you show teach begginers are so didacts.

    First of all, fantastic video! I learned a ton about gambits and I'm inspired to try several of them myself. But I'm a bit confused: Levy criticized several PogChamps players for going 1. d4 d5 2. Bf4 Nc3 as it blocked ...c4 in the future. Is there a particular reason to teach it to Negreanu in this case?

    I'm rated about the same give or take and Mr Negranu is entirely correct people rarely castle queenside at that level.
    It's funny that all the instruction I see says e4 e5. I stopped playing it early on because so many people play it. I started winning when I started using hypermodern openings and I haven't stopped since.
