Many years ago I visited Glastonbury, and whilst under the influence of many hallucinogenics I found myself sharing flagon of meed & chatting with Anne of Cleaves! Wispy John! Bob Monkhouse & Horace Snipswhispers.
Wow. £150 back then must be a lot more now, No wonder it's so expensive. Much preferred it when when you could climb over. Most I ever paid to get in was a tenner.
Actually I am pretty certain that area of the site is in fact an upper class glamping site called Love Fields. 15 grand to stay in an airstream trailer for the duration of the festival. I had binoculars on it this year from the park crew camping, lots of flashy cars and 20 or so airstreams and yurts. Looked pretty sterile and boring tbh. No sign of the cross.
Moved to a house by the entrance of the Glastonbury festival, ten years into its existence, then twelve years later is still complaining about issues at the entrance. Whatever.

Although I have a lot of understanding for her position, she had to know that she was moving next door to the festival site. I live in the lakes national park and we have no end of problems with people rather like her who expect to be able to move into the district and then expect to have things change to suit their agenda, round here its the campsites and the quarry the off comers always complain about.
I must say how much I enjoyed this video !and also the levellers !I n my case we done the same thing here in france , about 20 years ago , we started a country and western festival , I supplied the pa system and the band , it is run by the local council , and about 5000, people turn up which is a lot for a small village of 182 people including people like myself who live on a farm localy ,but it brings a lot of happiness and all profits goes to locally causes , it has a few people who don t like it, mainly because of the noise / fire works show that ends the night , but be fair , you need to have such events when they run as well as mr Eavis , does his , and you will always get one person who trys to spoil a good thing , cheers ritchie .

My friend lived opposite the entrance. She got tickets, a fence put up and compensation. People still jumped over the fence and sh*t in the garden. BUT, it's Glastonbury that's how it is
I actually met the lady once as myself and some friends attempted to get in for free. It was the year of the first super fence and we didn't manage it but this lady gave use some orange squash and explained we should try to get ourselves home. She was a very nice woman!

In Anne’s final years when she she lost her ability to talk and was confined to a wheelchair, it was awfully nice of the locals to wheel her out in front of the pyramid stage and lock her brakes shut for the whole four days
As the festival was up and running before Anne moved as close to it as humanly possible to it, I can only imagine that she did so in order to have a good old moan as often as she could

Had a look this year had not been since 90 had no ticket just a drive round managed to drive into car park or one of them my goodness what a sterile commercialized boring facile heap of shite it has become even gay little tractor trains to take you along to the entrance a real Thorpe park experience ....my advice to anyone if you want it real is hit stonehenge summer solstice but go to the traveller parties and raves held around the area ... dont give English Heritage anything once again commercialized shite .............. be what u want !
WOW someone is unhappy! I attended this year and it was incredible. Amazing atmosphere, brilliant art work everywhere, everyone was super friendly and kind to each other. Times change of course but compared to any other large festival it is hardly commercial!

When I worked in Wells, I had a manager for a while, who had just moved to the area from Surrey. He started on his view of Glastonbury and whether I was considering going. I said I would be, and that I would work for a carnival club as a festival steward to earn my ticket. The festival puts a considerable amount of money into the local economy, while the company I used to work for has long since been and gone, and a housing estate stands where the factory used to be. This man lasted for about a year in the West Country and then left the company and went back to Surrey. Best place for him.

I lived in Pilton from 1977 to 1983. And yes, she had a certain reputation in the village. Most of us loved 'Pilton pop festival' back then.
