First time I was in Edinburgh, coincidently the Fringe Festival was on & while walking down a street was drawn to the sound of the drums & happened upon Albannach. Stayed for the whole performance. There is something primal about their music & the way they play. A video doesn't really do them justice as they are so loud. I love them. Have a couple of their CD's.
Have you ever heard and seen something so beautiful you get tears in your eyes and the hairs on the back of your neck stand up at the same time?....Well, Albannach is it
The first time I seen them live! Wow, amazing, blew me away. The energy is absolutely amazing! I listen to them in my car, jamming as I'm driving down the highway. Never gets old listening to them ❤️
I absolutely adore this lot! 💙 Their music and energy are phenomenal! Can’t say how proud I am to have been born Scottish! I wouldn’t want to be any other nationality in the world, not even if I was paid a million pounds!
I've only recently discovered these guys on you tube. They are fantastic. Can't get enough. Must track down CD's. Also digging another Scottish Tribal Drum/Pipe band called Clanadonia.
awsome. albanach, clanadonia and many other groups of this genre i look forward to enjoying. learning the bagpipes is something i've always wanted to do. if i did lean my grandfather-john lemuel welch senior would be proud. may he rest in peace. i love my family and my heritage. sorry about my spelling. cutty sark has a tendency to have this effect on me. god bless you all.
My husband and I have seen this Band in person and they are off the chart's two week's ago at the Scottish Festival in Northampton Mass. It was great and they are very nice people. Very high Energy Band. True Scot's men and Scot' women too.
Ahh! The Scottish culture, the perfect representation of the dichotomy of struggle and grace. Who else is both tough enough and delicate enough to wear a kilt to battle?!
SunnasChariot Ya. it sure is something!!!!! my father was SCOTTISH! unfortunately I've been. The first time watched and listened to them. I CRIED IT WAS LIKE IM HOME IM FINALLY HOME!
Thanks for posting this great video! Perfect location for their performance, you filmed it from a great perspective (save for the man who walked in front of the video camera several times), and THANK YOU for panning the camera around to show the surrounding architecture, for those of us who could not visit Edinburgh ~ very enjoyable! :-)
Hooray!!! This awesome band is playing at this years Ithaca Scottish Games & Celtic Festival, cannot wait! Saturday & Sunday, June 29th & 30th Stewart Park
Scottish distiller's use peat, and malted barley. Irish whiskey is distilled 3 time's. Scottish usually only twice. Irish whiskey tend's to be a smoother than Scottish Whisky. That and the price difference, the best bottles of Scottish Whisky are far more expensive.
I saw you guys for my 60 Birthday in Colorado springs in 2015 .can't tell you how special you guys are OK friggin kicked ass!!!! love you! going to see you in Jan. of 2016!!!!!! Rhonda Vinyard Aya hate to see you go .
This is pretty awesome. I wish the recorded stuff was more like their live playing. The recorded songs tend to 'background' all that amazing drum work, and push the bagpipes forward as the main sound, which is such a shame. Live, you really get the wildness of those drums, and it is amazing.
oh how i wish i could see then live just once. just went thru 2 back surgeries in 3 weeks the latter ebecause i was leaking spinal fluid. It feels like a scottish powow to me with the drums , my great greandma wan was annie hall of the mohwk tribe and drums have always touched my heart so. I hope thet continfor many years. they are awesome !!blessings to them all!
As an American of Irish, Scottish and Nordic descent, my half Mexican kids grew up listening to this music. Here in the states they're not taught about their tribal European heritage so I teach them.
From their website: "The Albannach tartan was designed specifically for the band and our fans, to celebrate our love of Scotland. The colours chosen for this tartan represent Scotland, herself: - The bright blue and white are for the Saltire - The muted blue is for the numerous rivers and lochs throughout Scotland - The dark purple is for the heather and the thistle - The olive green is for the rolling hills - The red is for the blood of those who fought for Scotland - The black is for those who died in the name of freedom The threads in the “Saltire” section add up to 13 and the red threads add up to 14… these “Flag and Blood” sections are 1314, the year Robert the Bruce lead at Bannockburn to re-establish Scotland’s independence."
I just think the music is amazing and I am proud to be a teuchter as this is my heritage and my children's too go albannach and clanadonia love them both xx
There is a difference between a National Heritage and an Ethnic one. Here in the US there are many people who say they are only American, but many who identify themselves as Irish American, Scottish American and so on. I am an Scottish American and can be proud of those Scots who came here to establish this Country such as James Wilson, John Paul Jones and many more. Without these great men this Country would not be here. Thank You Alba!!
Scottish music..Scottish lands..Scottish culture ..Scottish outfits.. Scottish ACCENTS.. all that turns me on big time. Why i wasn't born in Scotland..why?!
I cant explain that either,I am American, never been to Scotland but my family is of Highland (Clans Davidson,Stewart,Douglas,MacFarlane)descent, why I can heal in like2 days and why this music is sooo cool...wild..methinks I need to go to the gathering in 2014..get some answers maybe?
If you ever want to time travel bake in the day play this lie back close your eyes and put your self at a 1000 year old party with thousands of people there. With giant fires plenty of drink swords spears arrows ,round houses farmstead's

Makes me what to go to Scotland 🏴 and not come back where do you live.

They are incredible in person. The rhythms are haunting and so powerful!

There always a tear when I hear them because of the joy i have when I listen to them . Goose bumps every time. The intensity , the beauty ..
I absolutely adore this lot! 💙 Their music and energy are phenomenal! Can’t say how proud I am to have been born Scottish! I wouldn’t want to be any other nationality in the world, not even if I was paid a million pounds!
With this melody, I feel my roots so close to me ... that they remind me centuries ago of my existence in this beautiful place.
I've only recently discovered these guys on you tube. They are fantastic. Can't get enough. Must track down CD's. Also digging another Scottish Tribal Drum/Pipe band called Clanadonia.
