Bad example, that boxer didn’t even know the number one rule to keep your hands up lol
I was about to say that...also a boxer knows how to keep distance..boxing is not just about punching..
That’s part of his point in the first minute or so, if the Wing Chun guy is an amateur of course the better boxer will win.
I think you’re comments helped proved his point, of course a good boxer will do all those things. So, of course a good Wing Chun practitioner will know what to keep in mind as well.
@@cactusjack4206 put a very good wing Chun vs a very good boxer we all know boxer would win lol

Any martial arts can be effective as long the martial arts practitioner know how to use the proper technique for fighting
I don’t think so. I’ve done a couple of martial arts and I admit that there are some techniques that simply are not realistic.
nauvalfakhri Yeah like karate or akido it’s pretty useless in a fight.
Ok, put any martial arts "master" against someone like Tyson. Good night.

This comment is stupid. They didnt challenge him to an ego fight, they invited him to a cross style sparr. Wich is standard for any martial artist serious about his art.

It could work but it would take a lot of training with it and muscle toning to beat an untrained thug with it. To beat a trained boxer you'd have to live and breath it. You'd have to train every bit as hard as that boxer; maybe a lot harder.

Boxing is proven in the sporting arena. Wing Chun & other martial arts are proven in over 3000 years of warfare. Real life & death.
1:20 HAHAHAHAHAHAH
True words from Master Wong. We fight each other because of religion, nationality, skin colour, beliefs in eating/living, martial arts, etc. This mental disease is the reason for the mess on earth. Everybody should try to be open minded and less believing on their ego. I hope my poor English is transmitting the message.
Uh pretty sure anyone who says open minded and isnt joking is literally the one who's not open minded, people naturally gravitate towards people who are the same, aka nationality, race, gender, style. Not realizing that humans arnt programmed machines that are equal and that we have inner primal instinct and not realizing that theres just some people who are gonna be bad even with the same nationality or race is literally being naive too a fault
92 Boosted Accord You're right. But don't you think that humans are able to evolve to a higher level? We have built machines, transform the whole world and even reach the mars. But we haven't the strength to let this primal behaviour in the past? Are you believing that? We don't need it anymore. You should believe - and will - what you want, if you're happy with that. Are you? I mean for real? I don't say that I know everything and I'm right. But I say that I believe that we're able to reach a higher level in our behaviour and thinking. And for that first I have to educate myself. Because I can't change you, but I can change me. And if I help me, I help you and the whole world will follow. And believe me that I was a very angry man in the past.
legkusch no we're not going to evolve beyond that. Human aren't even better than the animals.
The presentation is hilarious but he's 100% right.
no any boxer or mma fighter will kick his ass. It´s not about a theory or believe, some things work and some things don´t.
daan what works and doesn't work is more reliant on practical practice application than anything. When I was young and the first UFCs were on. We were told these techniques won't work either because they lacked power, telegraphed or lack speed: air techniques like jumping punches and kicks, spinning techniques, kicks past mid section on upright etc etc. Look what you see in today's modern MMA. People getting sparked by superman punches, jumping double back kick (tkd) etc. Even Boston crabs and twisters... practice practical application...
no one has a problem we just want to know if he is willing to attack the boxers who attack the wing chung people if he just wants leave the boxers that say wing chung is no good alone that's ok to.

Any instructor that tells you that one style of fighting is more effective than another is a fool and you will never reach your full potential with them. A good instructor teaches you to be ready for anything. I've beaten people with years more experience than me by destroying them on a psychological level. A persons arrogance tells me exactly what they won't expect and that's your biggest weakness.
Anyone who thinks a style like Akido, kung fu, tai chi will work against a BJJ fighter is selling you garbage....never pay for garbage...want to know if your being sold garbage to boost your silly ego? Try your techniques against other fighters....NEVER trust the garbage seller who tells you to not use your garbage against other fighters...he's the equivalent of someone selling you a boat with a big hole in it then telling you to never put your new boat in water....end of lesson...
@@mikhailgorbachev5274 I think Kung Fu deserves some credit I'm sure there are some tough Kung Fu fighters out there. BJJ is good to though however they never strike Which is a weakness they have.
@@mikhailgorbachev5274 keeping all names of different martial arts aside, someone needs some form of standing up fighting / street self defense with some type of grappling on the ground and some type of weapons training all combined and they're good. Its not about names of specific styles, its about whatever works for whatever type of scenario it is.
Gooey Bear they may not strike but the point value of each mount is determined of there ability to strike , so full mount for example is a higher pointed mounts because it leaves the guy on bottom very little options to defend themselves
People who try to prove one thing is better than another are basically saying 'my dad could beat your dad'
mostly it comes down to "your style couldn't defend you in a real fight, especially against so and so." Obviously nobody wants to feel that they've wasted their time training in something useless, so they argue back, and etc
+TheSuperQuail Totally untrue. Some styles absolutely are better than others
+LionelWitchieWardrob I'm not a fighter, but logically it doesn't seem to make any sense to compare styles. Because, surely in a real fight with no rules, you would use anything and everything. That would make sense right? Many martial arts were invented in the past, at a time when guns were not invented. They all must have uses in fighting/war, otherwise there'd be no point. But I don't imagine on the battlefield, warriors would line up and maintain their stances.
I remember Bruce Lee saying something along the lines of "unless human beings have eight legs or eight arms, there is only a finite number of ways you can punch or kick";. Therefore isn't the main purpose of any particular discipline to train one to maintain control of himself/herself? The core techniques and ideas are the key, not the movements. One has to transcend the style in applications. So it isn't about styles, it's about the fighters themselves. This applies to anything in life.
pw have you noticed that some sports are dominated by certain countries? Different training techniques and strategies can absolutely trump others. The same can be said of war, of new technologies and so on. There are more and less effective ways of doing almost all things, and fighting is no different.
Match an equally skilled boxer against a Muay Thai fighter and see what happens. It won't go well for the boxer 9/10. The same can be said for a Muay Thai fighter against an MMA guy. 9/10 the MMA guy will win because he has the tools to take the fight where his opponent has no experience. He would take him down and submit him.
Although Bruce Lee had some great philosophies on fighting he was an actor first and foremost, despite the stories. His technique was not up to professional fight standard. Sorry fan boys
LionelWitchieWardrob A punch is a punch. A kick is a kick. It's not like one teaches hadouken and the other teaches kamehameha. There is no difference. The only difference is in fighting abilities between fighters, and probably some luck as well. I'm not a fan of Bruce Lee btw. But logically what he said makes sense.
In a real fight with no rules, you say a MMA trained fighter would beat a Muay Thai trained fighter. But that is a very hypothetical statement which is purely based on biased opinion. In reality you wouldn't know. It depends on the fighters. Nothing is a priori definitive in real battles. E.g. for all their might, the USA couldn't win in Vietnam, they couldn't win in Korea, against inferior opponents.
I love what Master Wong said... “ Just close your Fxxking eyes if you have problem watching my training video...” 😎😎😎👍

You cant hit a normal untrained persons elbow with bare knuckles . That's science. If you don't believe me and think yourself so cool professional boxer try it on some your friend and experience the pain.
okay ,,real boxer " would love to see how u handle these explosive chain fists on your solar plexus, a powerfull slap on ur ear and a straight low kick fired in under 2 seconds. So exited to see what you're hands are doing but maybe u can get them back in front of you after waking up.
@@DaQuinnfx thats called a demonstration.
But you are wright though for in real life.
If one karate guy beat another karate guy does that mean that karate is better than karate. It makes no sense, this Wing Chun instructor is correct in what he's saying
***** the stronger and more experienced man will win. To say that a style is Inferior to another style cuz it keeps losing is absurd. Its the fighter themselves that decide the victor. For example, if I'm let's say, an experienced wing chun practitioner and you're an amateur mma guy, and I'm twice your size as we'll as 10 times stronger than you, who would win? Of course the stronger an more experienced artist would win.
***** that comparison is absurd in my opinion. First of all, we are talking about physical capabilities. Besides, u don't need much physique to operate a helicopter. Plus your comparison is expressing which would win. In your comparison there is no "which one is more effective". However in martial arts, there is a debate of effectivity. But that does not lie in the art alone, but it lies within the person. Also its not an excuse to defend wing chun. This is the truth to every martial art. Every art is effective, but its how u use it. Let me use a comparison now. I have a katana, and u have an axe. We both do not have any armor and we are fighting to the death. Which would win? Both weapons can kill, but wouldn't u agree that it is quite contradicting to compare those two weapons by itself? People would choose a weapon most fitting to their style, and makenuse of it. Same thing with martial arts. Each person finds a style that fits them. Not everyone find jiu jitsu or muy Thai fitting to their preferences.
P.s I wanna add one more thing. Thing I like about wing chun is that it revolves more around technique, and not as much strength. For example, let's say an old man in his 50s or 60s did mma, and was attacked in the streets (no weapons included). Most of the techniques in mma also require considerable strength. But since the man is at an older age, his strength is near obsolete, being at a disadvantage. But in wing chun, the techniques we use require less strength usage and more techniques to be able to DEFEND yourself in the streets. This is why u usually see a master at an old age beating his students, even if some of them are stronger than the master. But in mma, u mostly see the younger person winning.
+Dirkjan contradictory to what I said before, but indok agree with you at the fact that mma is superior to wing chun. BUT this is because mma covers different aspects such as ground work, striking, etc. wing chun is no doubt effective (I'm a practitioner myself) but its more on striking. I will also agree that a grappler can give a wing chun guy a hard time. however this does not contradict to the fact that wing chun is effective. but I do have one question, how do you know that wing chun is ineffective? what evidence do you have?
***** so? I've seen boxers lose, I've seen mma lose, I've seen jiu jitsu lose. What's your point? I'll let u win this argument if u could name one undefeated art. Also would like to mention that there are lots of wing chunners who've beaten mma guys, tae kwon do, boxing, karate, etc. It just seems that people ignore those things so they could degrade the value of wing chun.
Legit life lessons right here
Martial arts is maying peace with your enemies so you don't need to fight if they insist on waging war take away their limbs or break them so they can no longer fight it dies not mean kill but some arts were made to fight as warfare because the moves from a time period may had involved killing so with time after a war period the arts are all modified into what they were meant to be seen as defense of training defense over ego balance over all things. Those who look to fight are looking to only get hurt in the end or could die from their own stupid mind of thinking,it os wise to keep a guard up by that I mean always be ready for anything around corners bushes or anything that seems like troubled area avoid it best you can.

“If your Wing Chun is not up to the standard, of course you’d lose.” Those comments are why I really respect Master Wong.
A martial is only as good as the martial artist. My many years I spent training in several different styles, I met good and bad martial artists in all of them. You just have to have a open mind when training, do what it takes to be the best you can be and learn to be challenge by anything.
You are great master...
Great techniques...

God bless you
Best self defence advice I've heard. Peace to all who leave us alone. No problem.
I have being training Wing Chun for 15 years. I have beat many boxers, mma fighers, Thai and so on. But so what? Does that mean Wing Chun is better than other styles? Of course NOT. All I proved is that I am stronger than them in person, and that I am more fluent in my style. That's it. Stop being silly people. Have you saw styles fight each other? Or just a human being fighting anther human being? Rethink yourself people. There is no best style, but a stronger or weaker person. Pick a style or two and stick with it, master it, then you will find out that any style, could be the best style, for you.
The style of fighting is important but only so far, whats more important is the person behind it and the amount of time and training he puts in. Im a boxer and i have been for years, ive helped many ju jitsu guys improve there stand up skills, im the first to admit that my legs would easily be chopped down with low kicks to the muscles and when my abilty to move quick has gone im a sitting duck. So my advice would be to train hard and often and enjoy your chosen style and dont get involved in silly rows a out which is best, theres good and bad points to all styles. I expect the most rounded fighters will come from MMA in the end as they only use what actually works. 1 last thing though Master Wong i agree some hand protection is good and for some people essential, however not for all. I am well aware of the limitations and would simply work the body more and save the head shots for only to the chin. Anyway Best Wishes to all.
***** Agreed. More people need to understand that.. I guess their minds were just undeveloped. + many people arguing that no one use Wing Chun in mma or ufc, it's because of gloves and rules, especially for gloves. You can't wear gloves and do Wing Chun at the same time.. It just won't work.
david webber Yes, I have lost to many boxers in the past as well. It's all about the person.
+Fried Rice I like training with different styles, it makes it fun and you can always take away new knowledge and leave some, shame you guys arent closer could have had done some training together.
+Fried Rice i have 0 training and its just plain logic. who cares right? what IS there to prove? it has 0 to do with style. smh
A boxer will never come in like that. He will test you first. Keep the distance, create angles. Then he'll feint or throw a jab to make you move, set you up, confuse you, then just like that you'll see darkness and feel a thud, then you'll see some sparks, maybe you may even be able to hear some chirping.
He answered that like a politician...
Brother, I LOVE YOUR ATTITUDE. I agree, GROW UP PEOPLE. Thank you for providing the information. I'm a WING CHUN SUPPORTER.
Master wont , I see your beautiful soul. I love what you do.
This video was clickbait for me as I like to see wing chun applied in real combat. The internet doesn't have very many videos of actual wing chun fighting.. Mostly demonstrations. So I believe a great portion of people are asking "Will you go up against a boxer?" because , like me , they want to see what wing chun looks like when applied in a street fight for example. I clicked because I wanted to see just that. I also want to take up a martial art for self defense , and I think this style of fighting would be just odd enough to go up against.. And I believe in the element of surprise. SO I wanted to read the body language of a real contact fight between Wing Chun / Boxer to see what suited my body type more.. just research.. I have "grown up" in my mind and understand you completely.. You have nothing to prove. But I feel like I got shouted at for the wrong reasons while watching this video. And you seem like a person who would understand that =) - Keep doing what you do! Love it!
Woops , I can't seem to fix my typo up there.. I meant "Master Wong" not "Master wont" ... =P Thanks Jason.. I think he meant well and I figured my point would help him see this issue from a new angle. Glad you* understood me at least ;)
+Devin de St. Germain Watch the Ip Man movies. First two are pretty awesome.
People have to understand, the martial art doesn't dictate how good of a fighter one is, only his weapon of choice----his style. What makes a good fighter is what's in the fighter's head.
I have done a few different arts before, and I've trained in MMA. I've seen good fighters in both, but western kickboxing isn't my style. It's not that I think it's not good, I just feel like certain defensive movements and stances benefit my agility and aggression more than boxing. It's like a man picks a spear, one a sword, another a qatar, and the last nunchucks. Is one weapon better than the other??? NO! It depends on the user first, then you can start getting down to how some arts are naturally inclined to counter others, and get countered.......like how a qatar or nunchuck can easily parry and disarm longer weapons like swords and spears. On a battlefield, having an army of nunchucks won't work, but for a 1v1 of highly trained killers, it could be dominant. Some arts are easier to pick up, some are hard to pick up. Some are easy to master, some are hard to master. Some arts are more complex, some are simple. Some have many dependable moves that you can't really go wrong with. Some arts have many situational moves that require the fighter to be calm cool and collected, so that they can measure the situation correctly in high stress settings, like a street fight. If you guys treated martial arts like a fighting game, you'd understand that most characters are pretty good, it just depends on the gamer.
this is the real shit man, well said. And also real master of martial arts have discipline they won't just go around and challenge anyone like those so-called retarded boxers in the comments section. Martial art should not be used as a tool of harming the others at the end of the day
rever mak .....agreed. There are ways to safely and respectfully challenge other fighters if you wish to sharpen skills, but both fighters must know that the best case scenario is no one gets hurt. So you have to ask yourself, is it worth it? Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris understood that they are human weapons, and that one kick or punch in the wrong area could mess them up for life, if not kill, so they decided not to spar, at least not at a competitive speed. Most people do not understand how many weak spots your body has. If you want to see who's a better fighter without sending each other to the hospital, you must have gear, but gear doesn't really allow you to do everything that some arts require.
I believe that in order to see if you are a good fighter, so you can defend yourself against danger when it comes, you need to simulate it at real speed, as safely as possible. This means non-choreographed simulation. However, this has it's pros and cons, but there is nothing worse than having comfort in self delusion. So sparring is important, it just has to be done right, even if your goal isn't to fight professionally or be a killer.
Fighting for entertainment, and not getting paid for the potential damage one could get, is definitely not worth it. If these people commenting want to see Master Wong fight a Boxer, they need to make a hefty offer to both fighters, so that in case of something going wrong, the money can cover it and more.
Eastra3 and also, many martial arts have moves that attack the weak spot of a human body that can be really dangerous in a real fight. In a friendly fight no one will ever use that kind of moves because they'll cause so much harm to the opponent body. I personally know there is a kick move in wingchun can effectively fuck up the opponent's leg really bad. And all these people saying wingchun does not work in real fight is because all they see is friendly match, which isn't real fight. well, there are hardly real fight videos on the internet anyway. And with the restrictions posted on a friendly match, and also the with the fighter's moral code, boxing can be quite effective because the attacks are quite simple and straight forward compared to many other martial arts. Putting gloves on is a good way to reduce the damage of a punch in boxing however for wingchun, there are many moves that can only be performed with bare hands
Master Wong to me you know how to fight your just showing others how to defend themselves and if anyone is saying others negative things it's because they don't know nothing but I like your videos and it shows a lot that you know how to fight your the best keep making more videos I want to keep learning how to defend my self just like you

So... where are your real fights against a boxer? Or any real fights where you back up your talk?
True. Boxers get punched in the face A lot and can handle it. I don't think wing Chun instructors would cope very well after getting a good punch to the face from a boxer.
The same can be said for his opponent though. "I would do this and I would do that" can't be taken seriously if he never shows his techniques in a scenario that is as close to resembling what a "real" fight would be. It's not like we're asking him to fight every weekend, just one fight would do where we can have a good idea of how his techniques really do work but he wont do it, which to me makes me question his faith in his own abilities, and if that's the case he shouldn't be instructing people who may actually attempt some of this shit and get fucked up in the process.
in case you weren't listening, there is no better martial art. No martial art is better than another, each one has has aspects of both strength and weakness.
It comes down to the fighter, his skill, and his discipline.

I'm pretty sure as soon this dude fight an actual fighter, all his technique he showing would all be thrown out the window
Yes, that answers the question. You don't want to pressure test your skills because you know they won't work against a boxer.
He must be Gordon Ramsay's brother
The cool thing about Master Wong is he is a master fighter and a comedian at heart.
the difference is in real fights, if somehow you get lucky and block a punch with your elbow, the opponent won't freeze waiting for you to counter strike, a boxer's punch is thrown and pulled back, all in half a second, you lucky if you catch it with your elbow but you have no chance following up the way you do in your theatral fights
@Eric Vargas as i said you don't have enough time to do all that stuff, in half a second the boxer is back in his guarded stance
he basically tried saying he wouldn't box because he's the type of kick you in the balls and rip your heart out fighter lmao
Nice next time a boxer leaves his hook resting in my block and waits for my Elbow strikes Ill be all set.
I like this guy cause he is keeping it real. He is right that people need to grow up.
The reason I would want to see a Wing Chun person spar against a boxer is to see if Wing Chun is effective or not because I don’t want to waste my time and money on a martial art that’s not effective for self defense.
There is a Wing Chun place in my city and I plan on visiting it soon to see if it’s worth it or not.
In my experience, effectiveness in self-defense goes beyond style versus style. It's about the purity of intent and adaptability. Visit the Wing Chun place, but remember, the way you do anything is the way you do everything. Train hard, live clean, and don't let anyone bully you.
I agree with Master Wong completely. People just can't get it through their thick skull that there is no superior style, only better teachers, students and schools. Like a great man once said, mastering others is easy, but mastering yourself is the true challenge. Wing Chun and martial arts is about developing character, being a better you, not putting down yourself or others because of comparison in skill. Sure choosing a legit school and/or the right teacher is good practice but in the end you still have to put your own effort and dedication in. It's not what you train, but how you train. Of course when deciding on which path to follow you must learn to differentiate the bs from the legitimate schools, but is there really a point in proving which discipline is tougher? Last time I checked martial arts is meant for self-defense, not exhibition of combat skill.
there is technique to everything in life...be it throwing a stone...swimming...running..fighting.....there are only so many great ways to throw a kick, punch, knee, elbow, takedown etc...the best from any style use those same great ways...plenty stupid ways...wingchun is a style which uses all the stupid ways of doing things
But Master wong DOES NOT know the REAL wing chun, only the modified, which is inferior to the traditional. How would he know this?
Nonsense. This "there's no superior style" circlejerk has to end. Fighting is like math. If I teach you a bad way to do math, and you go out in the world and use it, and get bad results, that's the math's fault.
Victor Hartmann there is technique to everything in life...be it throwing a stone...running, swimming...fighting....a man using the doggy paddle swimming stroke will never out swim a man using the Australian crawl stroke...we know from tests on crash test dummies by national geographics ...what techniques hit the hardest and fastest....things like chain punches...are weakest of all strikes as tested....we all end up fighting the same at top level...better fighters from any style dump the garbage techniques like they use in wingchun and they use western boxing, muaythai, bjj, wrestling,....you couldn't show me 1 single wingchun man using wc to beat a skilled fighter....3 million WC men in the world...not 1 can beat a real fighter
1fitkbox I agree my friend the answer isn't that cut & dry boxing doesn't automatically win because of this and win chun doesn't automatically win because of that. Whom ever executes best will win this fight as in most any other fight...
I mean sure he doesn't mean by that that he doesn't like challenge, but he is explaining the huge difference between competition and street fight.
I agree, people think they need to fight just to prove themselves. Fighting should be in self defence only.
The aggression in his wisdom is uniquely powerful. Great ending
Man has a great point!!..He's a martial arts instructor that demonstrates what he knows best..Not to challenge to see who's the best!
TOTALLY works for me...Lethal and funny as Hell - MUCH LUV.
He knew what punches he was going to throw
Challenge KSI?!
I live in india where there is not any wing chun training academy nearby but i want to learn wing chun
I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. But I'm curious about the fight with Jake Paul. Or whatever his name is xD
Sifu, what most people don't know is that there is no 'technique' per se in fighting.. only ranges.. punching.. kicking.. trapping (Wing Chun).. and ground. Training every range is equally essential. Always keeping in mind that in the real world.. there usually is more than one opponent who most times carry weapons.. (which is another story.. defang that snake). Thank you Sifu for all that you do.
Are you saying that there are no fighting techniques. To name a few fighting techniques, double leg take down, inside trip, rear naked choke, arm bar, kimura, spinning back kick, spining back fist, cresent kick, super man punch, single leg take down. How can you say that punching and kicking etc aren't techniques?
kebabrepubliken1 Those aren't techniques. Those are just different punches, kicks, and holds. Dude's right though. In a real world situation the only technique 85% of people are gonna know is the 'try not to get your ass kicked' technique.
A technique is defined as a skilful or efficient way of doing or achieving something. How can you say that chokes aren't techniques, takedowns, punches and kicks are techniques. In the real world most people can't sail, skateboard, snowboard etc. Does that mean that there aren't any techniques for those sports?
kebabrepubliken1 BJJ is a technique, Muy Thai is a technique, and so on I would believe.
Just discovered your channel... hilarious...badass....informative all in one!! Great job I love it!
Boxing is not about wearing or not wearing gloves. It is about footwork, balance, ability of power punching, accuracy, having skills to avoid punches and experience (stress reducing factor).
I was a bouncer from 94-2012.There are many boxing gyms in my city. I studied boxing and Wing Chun for many ,many years. If Wing Chun is trained as it should be most boxers that don't street fight are not very hard to deal with when you control them. They are not used to being trapped, controlled or elbows , and knees are normally foreign to them. Good Video Master Wong!
Lol I love this guy!!! His wing chun is amazing and he has humor!!!
Liked this one. Avoid conflict.
He sounds wise even with his english

Lol
Hey master. How are you?
Any videos of you sparring against a resisting opponent? or do you just do videos of you talking and looking good in completely coreographed videos?? Legit question
This guy is pretentious AF!
A high school wrestler would double leg him. A boxer would probably break his weak bones. Ronin would make him his girl friend.
@I want You to know Fighter? What fight?
