Are you kidding me? He tells them exactly what they want to hear. No doubt, he is a great speaker and that's part of the reason why he can get the crowds. His methods are all wrong, though. If he wants teacher's to get paid more, then how about doing something to Carroll Thomas' salary and use that "bonus" money to pay the teachers. Problem solved. Don't take any more money out of our pockets.

YES !! Finally Barack shows us how brilliant he is about education! My 4 children had the blessing to attend private school where they learned not only math and reading, but, science, history, art, music and sports and sportsmanship. Put the video games away - buy books for them to read! They will become Independent Thinkers and Global Citizens !!

To people who say it is hard, yes, it is hard to change. That's what he has been saying about "change" all this time. IT AIN'T EASY." But he also said he won't tell us what we want to hear, but what we need to know. You'd be surprised how many of parents have forgotten or don't know how to parent. Keep on Mr. Presdient!! Obama 2008.

Geeze, I'm sick of these feel-good non-specific generalities! Schools are becoming touchy-feely while scores continue to plummet. The only specifics he gives are for parents on how to properly raise kids. Is he really saying he can legislate child rearing? Please.... At least give us some hard specifics on what you plan to do...

Go, Obama. You've got what it takes to be the kind of president we so desperately need. Your speeches travel far, and they certainly inspire those of us who watch your videos from overseas.

Love the idea of educating the whole child, not teaching to a test.
No Child Left Behind is a bad program for the student and the teacher. We need to be inspired to learn, and Obama is a great teacher!

This is advice we all know at our core, and its basic advice. It's nice to see a presidential candidate speaking about core needs in a plain way, it's refreshing. I feel very good about Mr. Obamas' campaign, and I hope he stays above the very poor quality of other campaigns. On a similar note I recommend highly watching the "State of the Black Union" forum in New Orleans.
While the forum was based about the state of the black community, I feel it addressed the human condition very well.

  • @DrRobDammet

His ideas are right. His perceptions educated, sensible and American. He embraces the "liberal" concepts of democracy, opportunity and American government and the "conservative" values of personal responsibility, security and frugality.
Conservatives: listen at 3:20 to the challenges to our American Community. Barack is the man to bring us together.
He knows what we've got to do.
    Amen.

I watched this on cnn live, this part was very good but the best part was when he was answering questions and was asked about his little experience, by the time he finished answering the crowds were already going crazy.
The list went on and on and was broad.
tax reform, community organiser, lecturer, lawyer, after school program, early education, finding loose nuclear weapons (nuclear proliferation), health care (reform), veterans (finance). The guy that asked the question became a supporter.

This stuff was here long before Bush (He's repeatedly stressed that point). In all our communities, we need to hear this. I'm sure folks will be saying, "You can't tell us what to do our how to raise our kids!" LOL, just look at the discipline problems in our schools today. Anyway, Obama 2008/2012!!!

WOW,Obama is a great American Leader, his words speak true patriotism and love for his country. " Parents and Teachers " out to be proud of him and put him in the White House, since they are a major electorate in America. He understands that "Parents" and "Teachers" are the true "Agents of Change" for the future of today's young americans, our tommorow's leaders! Well done Sen. Barack OBAMA ...

While I certainly think the very things Obama spoke of should be at the state rather than federal levels, when it comes to parenting, Obama was saying something I agree with. parents need to be active parents.

Senator Obama and Hillary policy for change is very similar that its almost not debatable. The moral value, Character, and integrity is clearly different from each other. This speech itself tells you how much he cares and this is why I am ALL OBAMA 08!

I agree with Obama. I will be so greatful when parents are forced to be held accountable for their children's action. I am homeschooling my 11 yr old son, per him being bullied, hit, and called all kinds of names by his peers. He is an only child, and does not have 1 friend. The educators overlook bad behaviors. My son definitely need after school activities, because of him being a homeschooler and an only child. Also, what are we going to do about the abuse in the schools.

Won't it be grand in January when the bully pulpit loses its current "bully" and this wonderful man and his wife stand in the White House as national symbols of common sense, personal responsibility and intelligent vision?
A president necessarily has limited power in our system, but a president can still dramatically change the mood of the country just like a teacher can change the mood of a classroom - by combining effective leadership with high expectations. Loved this speech!

You see.... Sen. Obama shows his values and says so many good things that are just accurate and common sense-fully correct, that shows the people how great a president he would be. But rather than playing videos like this, people just want to focus themselves, and confuse themselves, and others incessantly about snippets of certain videos and sound bytes so as to confuse; twist words, undermine, discredit. There isn't much to attack him on except to only undermine him. Please let's change!
