I have two of these and man the bass is absolutely incredible. I enjoy being able to feel the music and these zenith consoles perfectly reproduce that low end. I can’t quite describe the sound but its just different from todays stereos- really fills the room in such a warm way I fricking love it
Funny thing is, what's Old is New again- this kind of cabinet looks awfully similar to those people like to put under their wall hanging panel TV ;) SO these old consoles could find new lives under panel TV's, with or without the electronics working But having a fully restored unit would make for a great AV system in a current TV room. If wall mounted, the top could still be lifted to access the radio, turntable and/or tape deck Speaker's could be used as a "soundbar" via AUX/Line/Tape input from TV. Low cost optical to analog RCA adapters are available everywhere is panel TV has no analog output. Add an RCA switcher for multiple RCA inputs if console has only one, then could easily add Bluetooth receiver, CD/DVD player for audio, etc
I cannot believe you're only writing a day ago lol as I had this show up out of nowhere on May 25th 2022. Anyway, I have a 1960 Grundig Fleetwood SO-112 (CA) with a add-on Philips EL-3534 and I absolutely love it an have it set up the exact way you are describing. The only difference is that I keep a linin cloth on it and a sound bar. The Hi-FI 100% works because it took me almost 3 months to overhaul, and the majority of it was changing capacitors, record player/changer, and of course waiting for parts. I have had the TV connected for a few older movies BUT because it's a tube amp I couldn't waste (it's an ALL TUBE amp and the tubes are light light bulbs and burn out) playing TV through it and not records. When I finally had it fully repaired I had friends over a couple weeks later and because I finally had it in it's place they wanted to know if it worked. I was so happy to show them and they almost died because of how beautiful it is but more of how great and clear the sound was and that EVERYTHING worked lol.
One of my aunts had the same stereo but without the real to real hers was bought it and I think 1966 cabinet is identical control panel a little different on this one
Gerry K I just bought one for mine. Last time I received Sam’s you had to have a subscription and wait for them to come in the mail. Nice to see you can now buy what you want and download.
The R2R makes it rare ... these hold their value more....without it ... it would be just another mediocre set ...worth about 50 bucks... turning on the turntable and it does not turn, the idler wheel is shot or you have a stuck motor ...the turntable is a VM unit and I bet the R2R is as well...
DAMN what a classic....would be proud to have this in my living room....the bass is awesome man......1968...think of it folks.

nice!!
Console needs lots of work. Definitely need work on the reel-to-reel tape player.
any idea where I would find a manual for this model? I have one and am having no luck.
Try Sams photo facts, and the library

Hi how are you we want this one same model
Its way cool!
Mid 60s record players were good vm brand but the micro touchstone arm and other workings got to be made so cheep their junk

Actually, the turntable is a Zenith in-house built model and the reel-to-reel is a Wollensak.
You're confusing the value of the console with what your mom charged for a full night.
@@johnlockesghost5592 funny... consoles are not worth the wood they are made with .. at least in my area ... pick'em up off the curbs for nothing
Clean the f***ing lens and re-shoot the video.
