  • Widening the Lens on Innovation for Clean Manufacturing-A virtual workshop series and report to policymakers
Low-Temperature Industrial Processes: High Temperature (Industrial) Heat Pumps: An Untapped US Industrial Process Energy Efficiency Opportunity.
Paul Scheihing discusses the research priorities and targets for implementing heat pumps into major industrial processes. Key technologies to be researched include heat activated heat pumps, both of absorption (type 1) and heat transformer (type 2). Key targets include a total capital cost less than $1000/kW, heat delivery greater than 200C (ideally greater than 250C), a lift temperature of 100C, and a 5 year payback period.
Series hosted by the Boston University Institute for Sustainable Energy, Fraunhofer Center for Manufacturing Innovation, and Information Technology & Innovation Foundation. For more presentations in this series, visit www.bu.edu/ise/....
