- First and Foremost--absolutely no hate to the author.
There is too much to talk about in this book for me to put it all in one video, so enjoy the first ten chapters of "Powerless"; while I slowly loose my mind.
"Powerless" was written by Lauren Roberts. I suggest going and reading (or listening to) the book for yourself before making judgement. No one else's opinion about this book has swayed my opinion and my opinion shouldn't sway yours.
What is good for some people is not good for others; I happen to not be the audience for this book, despite how much I was hoping I would be.

Finally someone with similar thoughts on this book ...can't wait for part 2
I'm glad to know I voiced someone else's opinions. I wasn't sure how the critiques were going to be received. Part 2 was uploaded on Sunday :)
I am laughing out loud. LOL. This was literally me reading this book. POOLING IN HER POCKETS?! AND THEY JUST GO TO BED AFTERWARDS?!
That's what I'm saying!! It literally made no sense!
I’m so excited to watch this rant😭❤️
I am so glad no money left my purse for this book. I wouldn't have spent anything on this book. I completely agree with what you say. GREAT story, bad storytelling. Poor execution. 😢
Yes! The story could have been good, but some people just don't know how to write things well, which is okay. Everyone has special talents, Lauren's happened to be marketing, not writing.
Oh God, how could she dye her hair when she can't even afford food?😂
Was that something I said or that the book mentioned? I can't remember any more. I just assumed she'd rub dirt in her hair or something lol.
The only thing powerless was this novel. I feel like it gave no real emotion, and it failed to make anything matter, what it had also failed to do was explain things in a subtle way instead of info dumping which I think is very crucial to writing, not to forget, sometimes it forgot to explain anything at all.
If you are going to write something that is 500 pages, I would expect to know what is happening more, and for the characters to be more compelling.
These are my thoughts exactly. For a while the only video reviews I saw about Powerless were positive, even after I published my videos about the book. I've been seeing a lot more negative reviews about it now, especially since Reckless came out, and I feel very justified in my opinions of this book since so many more popular BookTubers agree with my thoughts.
This book was a whole lot of nothing, with bits a pieces taken from other media. It's really discouraging as an aspiring author myself to see publishing companies working with authors and books that have no substance, when there are so many other more proficient writers out there who can't find a publisher.
At the end of the day authors like Lauren, Alex Aster, Rebecca Yarros and etc are not good writers, they're good at marketing.
Time to sit down and watch a series of videos about a book I've never been interested and will never read
XD XD XD
The food service rant 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It was an issue I carried with me through the rest of the book too lol
Is there going to be a part 2???
Yep! Uploaded it Sunday :)
People are really hating on everything🤦♀️😭
I'd prefer to call it valid criticism. While not necessarily constructive--I have to admit--what I said is valid and has been restated by other more popular BookTubers. I didn't hate the book, at least thinking back on it I don't, but this is more of a "it's so bad, its funny in a good way" sort of book.
Honestly this just goes to show how easy some of the fixes would be... Ms roberts, please, just pay a little bit of attention to the words you use to describe the things you're writing about please. Just the tiniest attention.
Girl you haven’t even read it.
...if you say so.
