When you do a The Cure inspired song, with Robert Smith, and at the end you could easily, seamlessly transition into If Only Tonight We Could Sleep you know you've done something amazing.
Amazing reaction about a brutal music specially preformed by Robert Smith. You guys... knows too much about music and special emotions. For me The Cure is an indecipherable band from a different dimension, ever. Thanks
The story is the band all LOVE the Cure. They had sent off some demo tracks through their producer to Robert Smith in the understanding he was interested in doing some projects with other bands and...hoped. Heard nothing. Then, on HALLOWEEN of all days, he'd sent them the vocals for this out of the blue and they were gobsmacked. Magic.
Amazing collaboration, Robert Smith’s voice and guitar have been the soundtrack to my life since grade 10 (1985), there is a Cure song for every major event of my life. Thanks for sharing for this, I listened to 10 times in a row and will likely listen to it 100 times more.
Chvrches UK tour was right after this awards show at Brixton London, and ended up finishing up at the same place as this. So after this performance Robert said to Lauren same time next week. I was lucky enough to be at the show the next week and ended up seeing Robert play this, just like haven, the mother We Share and Clearest Blue for the encore was they were amazing together.
8:28 Although I have loved the band The Cure since 1986, I must say that the basis of all good rock and metal bands is always their own, unique, uncopied guitar riff, by which everyone immediately recognizes them even without singing. At least that's how it is with all my favorite bands😊
Chvrches ? super band!!!! seen them live twice Love Lauren, Ian Martin and John, been following them since 2014 they're so freaking awesome............😁
Robert has not changed since the old days! Love the colab and have loved CHVRCHES for a long time! Lot of tracks to choose from and look forward to seeing more. :) Cheers from Vancouver Island, Canada.
Great to see more converts to the world of Chvrches. I have been obsessed by them for a few years now. You should check out some of their older stuff like Clearest Blue, Recover, Forever, Miracle, and my particular favourite Lies.
Very nice. I’ve found the harder female vocals such a nice change from the soft tones of the 80’s and the ridiculous mainstream divas of today. I will always love my ABBA, but the likes of this group and Floor have found their way into my ears and heart (thanks to you two!) party on and keep Central America rockin!
Good to see that. Ginger obviously loves it with the most humongous grin ever. Nice reaction...'If you don't like this...just go away'. As a small aside I also wonder if you have listened to The Birthday Massacre, Who also have a couple of (obviously) Cure influenced songs? ('Movie' in particular comes to mind). Just a thought. You guys have great taste so I always love the reactions.
Chvrches are one of my favorite bands of all time and I just found your channel thanks to these wonderful Chvrches reactions. Had to subscribe, looking forward to more!
I thought. you could listen to BARE, the Cure........a stunning track........different timing but as unique as Pornography & Disintegration...........to be found on one of their albums..........mine are separaté momentarily whilst l play sorting my house..........soon Christmas 2023 shall be here..........hope you & yours have a good one..........remember.....Bare....& Treasure............xxxx London
Ginger & Mike, I know you are not going to believe me but would not recognise anything by Robert Smith, never heard of him before either. Musically, live a very sheltered life as I found my own music back in 60s and 70s and basically later years only listened to classic rock radio and my own album collection, after a youth of listening to classical music my father played. I have discovered lots of music since I started watching TH-cam in my late 60s. So have missed heaps of good music. Hope that explains my lack, at times, at some artists you think everybody should know. ❤️🤘🎸🇦🇺 Oh by the way thought this was enjoyable.
@@MikeandGinger thanks Ginger I have heard of the Cure by name and I think you did one of their songs before but also that’s my full extent of experience with them. Will have to do some more by myself. Have a nice night, I think that’s your time now as is morning for us here.
For something peppy, try Friday I'm In Love or Just Like Heaven. Darker numbers are plentiful! I particularly like Charlotte Sometimes, A Forest, Lullaby, or Love Song. - M
They don't make a bad song, if you like the Synthwave/Pop in their music you should check out their earlier albums, they have been slowly moving to a sound with more guitars and drums over their most recent two albums, it makes for a much better live show and Martin is really into coming up with strange synth like sounds with Guitars using effects Pedals and such. in fact they released a Screen Violence effects pedal this year made by Old Blood Noise Endeavors. A great deep cut you should check out is Night Sky off their first album, they have been playing it live this year on their tour and there are a number of very good fan made videos of the song live on TH-cam, I uploaded one I recorded but there are better ones out there!

This song works best with the original video, thats just amazing. I would recommend clearest blue too, but I am not sure that you will like it, I would rather suggest the live Version of death stranding: th-cam.com/video/eQtNiZlg7FU/w-d-xo.html starts at about 4:00
Profuse apologies..........hang on, l don't talk like that..,..........sorry, everything is a little topsy - turvy here after last week........even Rob was ...........weird..........
I am slightly fluxed...............yeh....,the spelling is correct...........gonna shop/parklife.............etc., ...........stay well & happy..........,
Great reaction, thanks for your widespread open minded music taste and welcome to the chvrches rabbid hole. Could you please react to this song from Chvrches? It is a little different with no album background, because it's from a video game soundtrack. But I think it is one of the most emotional songs from Chvrches: th-cam.com/video/CCpVehip_2Q/w-d-xo.html
They won the NME award for this song. Awesome...
So glad you are going on a Chvrches journey. Highly suggest 'Clearest Blue' next. Thank you.
Agreed...there is a live version from Australia that is really good.
Ok
That was absolutely beautiful. Robert hasn't lost a thing over the years 🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥🤘🏻🔥
Chvrches and Robert Smith is a fantastic mix. The end result is 🤯🥳
Best song released in 2021, absolutely brilliant 😀

Robert Smith is a treasure . I have musician friends who saw him a couple of years ago and we amazed at the sound Smith gets from his instrument.
The Cure LP Japanese Whispers from 1983 a song called LAMENT listen to that one.

Man, my new goal in life is to hit Ginger's level of joy when she listens to this song. Watching her groove is the best thing ever.
I love how much you appreciate this - what a great song!

Good choice
Love this song!!!!!!
I have listened to the whole Screen Violence album at least 60 times - it is a masterpiece!
Lauren...........ñeat!
This whole album rules. The director's cut has three extra tracks which are just as good if not better than the other tracks on the album

Robert Smith is the genius behind The Cure. Maybe that's more familiar. They're in the Rock'n'Roll hall of fame, so they're not obscure! -M
