But that was never cannon. Irons himself in 2 says about the Mayors DEAD daughter that she'd "Peurtify and turn into a zombie within the hour." Dead bodies were always able to turn into zombies. The reason your characters don't get infected when you're bit is because the story cannon assumes the characters got a perfect run essentially. I'm starting to think the stories not really as bad as people say, and instead just heavily misunderstood, a lot like Silent hill.
@@aliciafraser1835 well, recently Dead people come back, but long gone don't. So my point still remains, and I'm not complaining, Capcom just wants to make a mechanic tight game, and lore is the least of their worries.
You can also find some director's discussion about CV, and they say that the people in the graveyard were buried alive, so ehhhh, not ideal since I don't remember the game directly mention that, only imply all kinds of torture, but it's already something.

The 13 Weskers are part of a group called Real Umbrella. Formed when Master Wesker sent himself back in time to recruit his past selves, their plan is to create the X-virus and unlock the real Raccoon City.

It's the same way Rebecca was able to take an elevator from the training facility (deep within the Arkley Mountains) all the way horizontally back to Birkin's lab in the middle of Raccoon City.
@@mongooseunleashed RE0 has my least favorite story in the entire series. I know it's a weird thing to say but you are right. Despite being a prequel, nothing RE0 does actually contributes to the first game. It just complicates an easy backstory: Instead of some nameless scientist causing the initial outbreak by dropping a test tube, it turns out to be a crazy story involving leeches reanimating the corpse of one of Umbrella's founders in some insane revenge plot.
What a waste. Personally I think when the movie studios reboot the RE films, they should start with BRAVO team's gradual fall in the Spencer Mansion with Rebecca Chambers as the main character. It's a simple story but it gives the writers to explore characters who never really got the chance to shine.
@@wdcain1 the only plot point from RE0 that matters is the Progenitor Virus, since I believe that was created from the Progenitor Plant Chris and Sheva discover in RE5. That flower pretty much became the basis for the T-Virus and the different Plagas in RE4 and 5, iirc.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Death Stranding type of game with HUNK as the only playable character. Basically doing odd jobs for Umbrella, pick up and go here type of shit. You have a team of mooks with at all times and 99% of the time these people will die and be replaced by other mooks because the mission will almost always go FUBAR and you end up having to survive on your own against Tyrant level monstrosities. As a little curveball, the game will randomly have a mission go perfectly fine with no casualties and the entire time you're wondering why everything around you is still alive and then in the next mission everything starts dying again.
Okay, but all Hunk’s stupid dudes from Operation Racoon City have to stay away.

Wesker is best villain in the series and one of Capcom in general’s best baddies right up there with Bison, Dr Wily and Vergil.
He was killed off too soon, he should had a background role in every game Thanos-style.

Shits hype. I love him.

I love that when Pat starts talking about Sora and opening hearts, he looks around himself to see if anyone hears the barf he's spewing.
So what I got from this is that there will be a Final Fantasy x Castlevania crossover, in which Gilgamesh shows up the Infinite Corridor and drags Alucard into the lifestream.
I still think the dumbest plot moment in all of RE was that 4 started by saying that Umbrella was shut down and destroyed not due to Chris or Jill or Leon or Claire or any other main character that vowed revenge. But because their stocks went down.

He really just mostly plays fighting games. Seen the spec ops: The Line play-through. The A.I. buddies actually kind of carried him and they react fairly slow.
I think his initial exposure to RE was Nemesis, Wesker and Chris in Marvel vs Capcom, because fighting games.

It doesn't amaze me at all, because I remember the only reason I know any of this shit is because I like looking up wikis for video game stuff, which isn't something everyone does.
Most franchises never outgrow the shadow of their initial successes Woolie is super right, Star Wars is awful because to this day they just keep trying to ape the original trilogy. Silent Hill muddied out and Pyramid is everywhere because he's a marque character except he's fucking not supposed to be and wasn't designed as such. Most franchises like RE are vast as oceans but shallow as a fucking piss puddle from a narrative standpoint.

To be fair to Silent Hill only the American made stuff treats Pyramid Head like Mickey Mouse all the following Team Silent games didn’t bring him back. Yeah he appears in the light gun and Paichinko games, but Konami are hacks we all know this.
The entire Metal Gear saga has been fixated on elaborating and recreating Big Boss and Outer Heaven for the entire 3D era, ironically the only villain from before the series had production values. Although with MG in particular, eventually the subtle repetition loops to becoming amazing once it becomes some so distorted that its barely recognizable; Raiden vs Armstrong being the mirror abstraction of Solid Snake vs Big Boss.
8:20 Actually Leon and Chris didn't met the first time in re6. They act like they do, but the official canon stays that Claire introduced them to each other, so I can guess they had at least few talks.
Kind of hope the remakes get revealed to be a separate continuity to the original.

Can't say I agree about the Wesker part, because... fuck it, he's Wesker, but I'm also really hoping that the remakes are setting up an alternate continuity to the RE franchise, because there are a lot of interesting things that could've been done had that 6 year timeskip never happened, and I'm saying this as someone who thinks RE4 is a fucking masterpiece that doesn't need a remake.
Still really holding out for the hope that if this really happens, Capcom will revisit the fog/Hookman/Progenitor Virus build for RE4, especially since a big part of why we never got that particular version of RE4 was because of hardware limitations at the time.

@Syd Klem This is what happens when a game's plot is wrapped up all nicely, and then any sequel to a plot has to RAMP things up to Gurren Lagann levels to make it interesting.
FF4: The After Years establishes on Ancient Civilization that spread the crystals through the galaxy to recreate all life after they "accidentally" wiped it all out. The Creator/Final Boss of that story supposedly being the Original Cid.
Dissidia then talks about Alter Universes, and an afterlife like plane of existence that was created by the Wyrm of Chaos and Order. It being Chaos and Cosmos actually being a red herring, and then truth being that it was both Shinryu and Mog respectively.
I dont even know what other games have established in their own canon, but I'm sure it's equally as dumb.

I'mma be real with you chief, Jake Dante-ing into the distance as the next big hero of Resident Evil was the RE7 I wanted to see.

Cool gameplay tho.

If you boil Leon's personality down to such basic elements he has _even less_ personality than Jake does throughout the entirety of 4, he's there to save Sherry and make corny jokes, but we love him for how it's all presented. It seems Jake's charisma went entirely over your head and left you with a very different view on the character, which I'm not gonna argue with, we just aren't gonna see eye to eye on this one.

Jake doesn’t make corny jokes he makes edgy one liners like everybody in RE6 (even Ada) and they all suck compared to humour in RE4. Sorry dude but you’re too caught up in his twee relationship with Sherry notice what possessive asshole Jake is, it’s not charismatic when Leon a surrogate father to Sherry just wants to reach out to talk to her and Jake literally pushes him away like a douchebag that’s opposite of charisma. Not to mention the bit where he’s about to kill Chris over the fact he killed his dad Wesker even though Wesker abandoned him.
You’re in a minority on this one, Jake Muller is a lame edgelord punk. He could’ve been interesting but RE6’s writing is subpar.

To be honest I never enjoyed the Project X Zone games compared MVC, the characters dialogue gets super annoying.
Ok, serious talk. I'm aware that RE story lines can get silly and campy with RE6 being the really irredeemably stupid one. But Pat shows complete and utter ignorance on most of the plot points. He outright ignores answers to his questions that he would understand if he actually pay attention and not just skim read a wiki article.
He should really drop the red bull.
First half of 6's story is alright. Simmons was a pretty good villian... Then the second half of the game happened with the Ada thirst and silly transformations.

You see Terry a female Redfield is able to imprint herself on a desired mate and make him find other members of her pride.
I could never EVER take RE story/stories seriously, like since Chris laugh at Wesker's tyrant and 20 seconds later, Wesker get killed by tyrant. If anyone takes this game seriously, should get a boulder punch combo.
What is exactly wrong with that scene? Bad guy gloats about his monster creation, release it on the hero but gets killed by it instead. Classic story set up.

A mastermind to rule the world with tyrants, GETS EASILY OFFENDED by Chris laughing at his plan. He doesn't even barely have a comeback, he pathetically tells Chris to stop it.

RE5 is great because it takes itself completely seriously, which makes it a campy delight when Irving says "I've got an EXTREME MAKEOVER" and Chris punches a boulder. However, it doesn't work for RE6 because not only is the story a bad story told poorly, but it's just too dour to enjoy.

Ok Pat; CV X is 3 months after RE2, not 6 months before RE4, RE4 is 6 years after RE2. For Woolie, Tony Redgrave was originally going to be the 'son' of Spencer, part of a science experiment to create the perfect human. This got turned into the Wesker children for Resident Evil and the Sons of Sparda for Devil May Cry. Dante was 100% supposed to be an Umbrella baby, not even a joke. Also Pat, I may not have finished the trash fire that was 0 but at least I finished 6 the first time round and then didn't talk the biggest load of shit for 8 years.
So I just got into the RE series, and hearing about 13 Weskers is giving me kingdom hearts flashbacks and now I really want to play all these games cuz that shit raw!
Honestly, as someone who is as equal of a fan to RE as Pat is, but will be more honest with you about it, you can stop after RE5 if you're even willing to go that far lol RE1, 2, 3, CVX, 4 are the ideal games, RE0 and RE5 i feel are optional lol

@@mugsmcratmin6842 the Rev games are pretty good but sort of irrelevant (at the moment) to the overarching story, and Code veronica has not aged well. ALOT of backtracking and accidentally locking yourself out of a few key items
@@mugsmcratmin6842 Code Veronica is honestly better than Pat describes it, it's just aged a little poorer than the older PS1 games being one of the first PS2 RE games that is originally a Dreamcast port, so it sometimes feels "experimental" with a couple features. But it really does bring Claire and Chris together finally, but also introduces a few "questionable" characters like Steve and Alfred Ashford lol
I actually didn't play Revelations 1 since I didn't have a DS when it came out, but from what I've seen in Revelations 2, it continues Claire's story and brings Barry back, but it does involve some of the weird and ridiculous Wesker family crap Pat was talking about. So I think it's optional if you really want to find out, but the Rev games seem to focus more on co-op too.
@@mugsmcratmin6842 Revelations 2 is the only other RE to have one of the other Weskers. It's also really good so I think you should play it. Just make sure to get the good end.
I'm a little surprised Woolie's only played RE5 and 50% of RE2 Remake, now would actually be a pretty good time to play the series from the beginning since all the original PS1 games are remade. I know a lot of people want RE1 Remake to be remade AGAIN with the new controls, but I like it as is since it keeps the flavor of the classic games with tank controls and the really esoteric puzzles lol The Raccoon City saga is pretty much playable now with RE3 Remake.
The REmake remaster adds contemporary controls to the game and they work great as is; there's no need to remake it again.
@@MrStath1986 I completely agree, but there are some fans who really want to replay it with the over-the-shoulder camera and current photo-realistic graphics. But I say keep REmake 1 as is with the HD versions to keep the original vision alive alongside the latest remakes to get players to experience and appreciate the best of both worlds.

If there's anything connecting FF universes together, it's FF5's Cleft of Dimensions. It's where Gilgamesh, Omega, and Shinryuu were all originally dumped before they started showing up in other games.
Hopefully Woolie tries either the Mercenaries mode or just the demo for RE6. I know Pat's gonna sandbag it as hard as possible and hope nobody ever plays it ever, but there's definitely gameplay with Jake and maybe the others that would be really enjoyable for Woolie to try hands-on.
But yeah, the story's a mess.
Mercenaries is where RE6 shines. It's legitimately fantastic. The problem with RE6 is the story along with the abysmal level design and absurd setpieces in the campaign. If you isolate the gameplay and put it in a big map with a bunch of enemies, it's really fun.
Super Pochaco the problem is that you have to beat all the campaigns to unlock all the mercs stuff

Woolie for the love of God play FF9, JUST FOR Garland and his story arc you will love it on the level of someone who liked ff1 and actually feel kind of bad for him by the end of it

To be honest, I find it extremely comforting that the people who swear RE is amazing also think the story is the dumbest worst. Because that franchise's story is the absolute dumbest worst, sometimes so bad that I can't even play the game.
RE2 remake was super cool, though, and I'm really looking forward to RE3 remake.

The void is what connects all FF universes. Gilgamesh travels through the void. Also, Cloud of Darkness eats FF universes that are devoid of all conflict. It shows up as the final antagonist in FF11 where it was first given form and was handed its first loss. This allowed for the FF3 crew to ultimately kill it. It ate an unknown amount of FF universes up until it's demise in FF3. For all we know, it could have eaten main numbered FF universes after their story concluded.
One can only hope it ate 13's universe after "lighting returns"

Well, they definitely are now in Final Fantasy 4: The After Years. That final section and it's implications about the crystals by the end of that game becomes completely bonkers and existentially horrifying.
@Raizen Jaegar, that all the crystals from from Final Fantasys 1-6 (Even if you don't see them in 2 and 6) were all observational devices from a long dead civilization, and kind of helped develop the civilizations of the Final Fantasy 1-6 worlds like the monoliths from the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

I'm really confused as to why Woolie is confused about Final Fantasy naming conventions. He knows that there's a Cid in every game, and it's not the same Cid, and plenty of other characters and references and thematical elements. So why would he suddenly assume that 14 is related to 1 and a naming reference is actually indicating an in-universe continuity?

i think the worst thing for the Zelda thing with "not being able to get out of Ganon's shadow" is when they make a really good story and then it just kind of last second swerves in to "oh right, Ganon". granted the only game i know of that does this is Twilight Princess, the next closest thing i can think of is A Link Between Worlds, but the bad guy revives Ganon so he can fuse with him, and even then he is the reverse world Ganon anyway. some might try to say Skyward Sword shoehorns in "Ganon" at the last minute, but the entire game's plot was leading to him from coming back in true form the whole time.

The C-Virus remains the worst part of Resident Evil imo, a virus that can resurrect corpses that have been dead for hundreds of years and despite basically all of their flesh being gone make them strong and smart enough to operate traps.
Sheva story is interesting because RE5 is based on all the fucked up testing pharmaceutical companies do in African countries, so it's weirdly enough, the most based in reality game of the series.
Pat's issue is he firmly believes that if something happens off screen it cant ever happen despite years sometimes in between events.
RE4 soft-resetting everything towards the end of development instead of the Progenitor Hookman game ended the Umbrella storyline. Capcom had no clue what to do with Resident Evil after 3.
Theres a rumor RE9 won't address the BSAA twist at the end of Village either, and that game left "Blue Umbrella" even more unexplained.
