    I prefer shooting on gloomy colder overcast days and have a hard time motivating myself to shoot when the weather is severe clear. These tutorials are great motivation to try something outside my usual. Thanks Rob.

      I know what you mean. Getting a black background in bright sun is like trying to light a match on the beach. But we can't always wait for the right weather!

    Hi Rob..Greetings from the U.K .. great informative video, I've only just bought the Olympus M1 mark 3 and the 60mm Macro lens...I have a lot to learn 😊..but I don't want to just take sharp in focus photographs , I want to learn how to take photos that are a bit creative with good composition, make them more interesting and pleasing to the eye...This one on flowers (and another of yours I watched earlier) have given me some great ideas and taught me something about some of the settings and what they do, so many Thanks, I also like the the carm relaxed way you talk and show and get straight to the point , it is much easier to follow , maybe thats because I'm from the U.K and we don't go in for those very enthusiastic, fast and almost shouty deliveries really 😂... stay safe !

    As I said before, your photos are fantastic. I always blamed myself for not having top of the line gear. After seeing your videos, it is just talent. I have learned more from your videos than the past 30+ years of taking photos. Thanks for all your tips and keep it up. I have had my EM10ii for almost a year and I can now see what a great piece of equipment it is.

    I've been watching your channel for a month or so now . You have a straight forward and easy way of explaining details . I mainly shoot film with my OM Olympus gear , but when I do shoot digital ( Em-1 or Ep-5 ) And need some advice on different operations of the camera I go to you . Thanks .

      Thanks. I'm glad my way of teaching connects. I need to finish my role of film in my OM-2n. Can barely remember where I left off 4 years ago.

    Wonderful series. Like Ansel says: You don't take pictures...You Make them...!
    Creativity gets Better and Better Rob...! Story, Tutorial, Pictures, Composition and...Grrreat Contrast...!
    Now go shoot in the streets with these settings and mindset...
    Oh and some for your Real Estate...as teasers...! I dare you...!
    I think a local exhibition soon, is possible.
    Flowers may have a name, yes, but here they talk picture language...!
    Here they are powerful elements in the image.
    Are you going closer...? so close, it becomes pure abstracts...?!
    Makes me really happy for you, to see your results...from "the Hands onwards.
    Spring Greetings my friend. All the best.

    Another nice video. Have you done a tutorial on saving custom settings. I would like to know how to save yoyr B&W settings to a MySet and recall them later. I tried in once on my EM10 v2 but I must have done something wrong as I could not load up the settings I thought I had saved.
    Really good that you do a lot of tutorials with the entry level camera instead of the flag ship models.

      Thanks. I think most people buy the entry level camera and probably need the most help. Here is a video for mysets: th-cam.com/video/l-dBsFLmRg4/w-d-xo.html

    Great video again.But Rob i just saw a guy say its fine to use a DSLR flash on your mirrorless cameea and nothing will happen except you will not have ttl.Is this really advisable as i thought it will fry you contact points and maybe the camera?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Newer flashes for dslr should be fine. There is some discussion of using older film era flashes that have a different trigger voltage. I use old film era flashes off camera only. I've used my nikon sb-800 on camera hundreds of times.

    I find this videa serie much interesting but I don't think I grasped the mechanics of manual flash setting: could you please explain how you chose a certain flash power in various situations? Is it just experience or is there a guideline? Could you add this part when you review the new off camera flash you were talking about in this video? Thanks!

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks. Yes, flash power is set based on experience, trial and error for me. But I can do a video giving some guidelines.

      Hi Rob
      Another great video. Im still a newbie at this .do i understand that the light coming from the cameras flash sets off the Off Cameras flash ? What do you do then if you dont want any flash coming from the camera when using off camera flash ?
      Regards Brian From Australia.

    Rob, I have another question please. When using a tripod is it necessary to switch of the Auto Stabilisation? I've always read the any stabilisation should be switched off when using a tripod but so far I've never noticed and problem when I've used Auto Stabilisation.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rarely worry about it. I sometimes turn it off as an academic exercise, but never noticed any difference in the simple work I do.

  • @BatuHijau
    @BatuHijau 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Apologies Rob. I've just noticed that you are using IS Auto.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries. I suppose in critical macro or extreme telephoto it might make a difference. I'll have to test one day and see for myself!
