Our Fragile Earth Season 3 | Episode 4 - Masinloc-Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape
We end the third series of protected areas documentaries with our 4th episode of Our Fragile Earth: Protected Areas of the Philippines
In this episode, we will visit two protected areas: the Quezon Protected Landscape in the province of Quezon in CALABARZON and the Masinloc-Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape in the province of Zambales in Central Luzon.
The Masinloc-Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape covers an area of more than 7,000 hectares supporting the needs of thousands of fishers and coastal communities in Masinloc and Palauig in Zambales. It is the first marine protected area in Central Luzon and also the first declared mangrove protected area where rare hybrid mangroves can be found.
The protection and conservation of biodiversity in these fragile ecosystems is covered by RA 11038, or the Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018, which I authored.
