Classic 1970s car chase. Hawaii 5 - O, one of the best action series on TV. Unmatched performance of an Honest Police officer portrayed by Jack Lord. Film makers may re-make the series in present time but the professional standards of those artists in the classic original series is very difficult to beat.

The best detective programme ever and no reboot can match, Jack and the cast members were perfect for it, the acting was better, and we didn't half of Honolulu killed of in the process as well as all the damage the high powered weapons did and what they used would have cut someone in half judging by the little I did see. Five 0 lives on with us truly loyal fans, and Jack lord with never be forgotten. I have posted a tribute vid for his 24th Anniversary. titled Jack's 24th anniversary of his death.

I wrote these lyrics when I watched my favorite show,
while I was in high school, and years afterward.
Jack Lord was the BEST. He was the reason I watched the series.

    Hawaii
    1.) Mystic land of Hawaii
    Mystic land of Hawaii
    Blue seas in Hawaii
    Blue skies above
Land where all your sorrows and fears
    disappear throughout the years
in Hawaii, magic land of love, of love.

    2.) Wind sings of Hawaii
    Happiness of love
    Wind sings of Hawaii
    Blue skies above
Wind that is so soft and sweet
Now you get the chance to meet
    in Hawaii, Hawaii’s song
3.) If you and a friend now
    get an early start
    then come to Hawaii
    land with a heart
You’ll find you’re loved here all along
You’ll be singing this magic song
    in Hawaii, Hawaii Five-O,
    Hawaii Five-O.

    @mec7568 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Note the basic 5-0 car scene guidelines:
    1. Use hardtops if possible with all windows down for great visibility of characters. (Too bad they forgot the right-rear in the 74 Marquis)
    2. Always chirp the tires at every start/stop.
    3. Doors open before the car stops moving and usually slammed with authority.
    3. Even though they used recycled cheater shots, with significant continuity issues, interior ones were done on location with real driven vehicles - and not on a trailer. Compare those to the in-studio babies of the remake and other modern shows.

Although these large land barges didn't handle well, these units were probably equipped with police duty brakes, tires, steering and suspension. Most likely, these vehicles were equipped with Goodyear Blue Streak tires designed for high speed driving. I worked on few Ford's during the '70's, and those vehicles were world's apart from the usual Ford's and Mercury's sold at the consumer level.

The producers made a mistake in not having Amanda McBroom in more episodes as a recurring character and maybe making the Five-O team after Chin Ho and Danny left the show. Would love one of those black Mercury Marquis. Since I'm retired and don't drive more than 6000 miles a year the 10 miles per gallon wouldn't bother me that much.
TV writers don't write great dialogue anymore such as in these scenes.

i guess they didn't have shoulder belts back then, LOL.
FYI, the areas filmed on Diamond Head are still the same -- undeveloped after all these years.
Because that area is owned by the military/government. The old bunkers where the car hid are still there.
The only area that is different is the final scene where the car flips over, it is now paved with parking spots and is a visitor lookout point.

He wanted 1/2 ownership of the

At 4:08 Officer Sandra Wells gives Kim Chi's monkeys a moving violation and Steve McGarrett tells her "That was very good." And at approximately 4:29 she tells him "Thank you."

The mid-70s is when the writing, plots were starting to get weak. Frankly, I started to lose interest at this point.
