This is Tina Arena's song, helped by The Veronicas (identical twins who naturally harmonise) and Jessica Mauboy, a first nations singer, who starred in the Aussie musical film named, 'The Sapphires.' All are wonderful Australian, female, musical talent and international performers. Tina has always had more than enough confidence even as a little 'pocket rocket' on television when very young. ARIA stands for the Australian Recording Industry Awards. Most in the audience are the cream of Aussie musical talent.

This performance is honouring her induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame. You can see the absolute worship in Jessica's face whenever she looks at Tina, it really is special

Tina Arena was being inducted into the ARIA hall of fame. She is an absolute legend and has been singing since she was a little girl. I think she is 47 here.
The Veronicas were the first singers, followed by Jessica Mauboy; then the lady herself, Tina Arena. Tina began her singing career, when she appeared on the Australian TV show Young Talent Time at the age of 9; at the age of 16 she had to leave the show, and later started her career as an international artist. Chains is one of Tina's signature songs.

Tina's been on our screens and in our hearts in Oz since she was very young. She was one of the great young performers on a show called ''Young Talent Time''. This showed highlighted many future artists including Jamie Redfern, Jane Scali, Debbie Byrne, Dannii Minogue (Kylie's younger sister) but none reached the heights that Tina Arena has. You've reacted to some great voices like John Farnham, Michael Paynter, Matt Corby, who are pitch perfect with incredible ranges. Tina is as great. For me she's as close to the divine as anyone can be, that's Ella Fitzgerald. Her body of work, her persistence to improve her craft and the standards she sets is why she is loved and admired.
When Cadel Evans won the Tour de France in 2011, the only Australian to do so (BIG), Tina sang our National anthem on the podium. Two national treasures. Perfect.

After early success in Australia Tina moved to Europe for quite a while. Living in France. Arena was awarded France's Knighthood of the Order of National Meritin 2009 for her contributions to French culture, the first Australian to receive the honour.
I grew up listening to the Veronica’s and Tina and I was there when Jessica became a singer/actor as well. I love all these girls very much. And Tina getting inducted into the Arias Hall of Fame was well fought for, well deserved and she will always be well loved by us.

Of course she was confident, it's her freakin song babeeee! The other gals are amazing, and absolute recording stars in their own right, but Tina is the Queen bee! This was a huge hit for Tina. She’s got a big, big voice in that little body. She was very successful overseas and lived in France for several years. Tina is back in Aus now and has been doing quite a few gigs. She is definitely Australia’s diva. Jessica Mauboy is an incredible singer with many hits in Aus and the Veronicas have been quiet in the last few years, but hit the scene years back and were very successful. Each performer is great in their own right.

Tina was tiny when she started on "Johnny Young -Young Talent Time Show" before she was old enough for school. Australia practically watched her grow up on Sunday evenings along with other young talented children for many years. Tina's lived in France for a couple decades now, along with her husband and children & the French adore her too. I think Tina sings fluently in 4 or 5 languages and has won many French awards as well as Aussie awards. Great song to have written with co writers 25 years ago. Oh très chic!!

Some people don't realise how good Tina is until she comes out on stage like this and 'shows up' accomplished (and very talented) singers such as Jess Mauboy. Jess is an amazing artist, but Tina is just next level. An absolute powerhouse. You could tell during Jess' part just prior to Tina coming out that it was slightly modified by 'flattening out' a couple of the 'higher belts' that Tina normally does.

Doesn't Tina live in France now raising her kids? I'm not even sure she sings professional anymore and hasn't for years. Just does the occasional concert. But this was maybe 10 years ago she was living over there. I may be wrong though.
