    If I am going to claim that I follow the Bible, I am certainly going to make sure that the church I am in is mentioned in it. Rom. 16:16

    When Priscilla and Aquila saw Apollos (a man mighty in scripture) preaching the word of God in Ephesus they took him and taught him in areas he lacked knowledge (Acts 18:24-26). Brothers it saddens me reading most of these comments. A lot of y'all bash the Church of Christ rather than try to express with love areas you feel the church is wrong and provide any real constructive criticism. How can one know unless he is taught? Though I believe the Church of Christ does well.

    I was raised and continue to attend a congregation of the Church of Christ.
    I also became a historian and specialized in 1-5th c. church history. Many heresies were fought and discarded during that period and the "Dark Ages" saw the mass dissolution of paganism across Europe. In the midst of many early errors and apostases at what point during that time would the "great falling away" have happened to sufficiently consider the Church of Christ extinct or at least dormant? After Clement (Phil 4:3), Origen, Augustine or Irenaeus, etc?

    • @TerriTemple
      @TerriTemple 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I thought the same yet he answered the question quite accurately. It would not be hard at all for the church of Christ to be considered extinct or dormant due to the fact that after the destruction of the temple and the great persecution they worshipped in houses.

      @@TerriTempleyes and y'all are sinning by having church buildings instead of worshipping in houses as was the pattern in the early NT. Mighty strange, no musical instruments because you don't see authorization for them but yet you have church buildings that also have no authorization. REPENT!!!

    • @TerriTemple
      @TerriTemple 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dwbid42 Please don't make assumptions. It's better to ask questions. 😄His lesson on how the church began was accurate. My husband and I worship in our home. Yet I do not see where it is always a sin to worship in a building though. Where do you worship? If in a home how do you evangelize and promote the church because I have never seen nor can find church of Christ houses.

    • @dwbid42
      @dwbid42 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TerriTemple In your first comment you said this: "It would not be hard at all for the church of Christ to be considered extinct or dormant due to the fact that after the destruction of the temple and the great persecution they worshipped in houses."
      That's not accurate. The NT churches from the very beginning, long before the destruction of the temple met in houses. You'll never see any buildings mentioned for worship except the temple and synagogues.
      My whole point was the the CoC claims they follow the pattern of the NT church, you know - no musical instruments in worship - and most claim it's sinful to use them. Y'all read the book of Acts and only go to to other NT books for a verses to try and backup your belief that baptism is necessary. You use the OT for Naaman and the walls of Jericho because you claim they back up works being necessary but don't go there for a command given by the Lord for musical instruments to be used and that was NOT under the LAW.
      2Ch 29:25 And he set the Levites in the house of the LORD with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps, according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king's seer, and Nathan the prophet: for SO WAS THE COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD BY HIS PROPHETS.
      Y'all also disregard that they are used in heaven so it can't be said that God doesn't like instruments.
      Rev 5:8 And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, HAVING EVERY ONE OF THEM HARPS, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
      Rev 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: AND I HEARD THE VOICE OF HARPERS HARPING WITH THEIR HARPS:
      Rev 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the HARPS OF GOD. NOTICE!!!!!!! HARPS OF GOD
      You claim that everything the NT church did we should do also. So if that's the case it should be sinful to NOT worship in a house, to use pitch pipes, songbooks , a baptistry etc. Y'all hold to some "patterns" in Acts where it suits you and disregard "patterns" where they don't.

    Reading verses aligned to your presupposition doesn't mean it's true...the Bible doesn't support your view....and also not supported by early church history...😂😂😂

    Well it was not with Paul. It was not in Antioch. It was not in Jerusalem. Makes one wonder. 2 American ministers started the Church of Christ. It an American church. Google it. It was not 33ad. But it's a church as Baptist and Methodist. I can say more. But I always get accused of HATE SPEECH. NO MATTER WHAT.

    "Worship is conducted today as it was then." Did they have pitch pipes, a baptistry?? You base your church services with no musical instruments on the quietist command in the whole of the Bible "Thou shalt not use musical instruments in worship services" and then ignore 1 Corinthians 12&14 that tell you what should be in church services.

      There are biblical verses that tell us to use various and many instruments to praise. I've read it in kjv. It also tells us exactly what you said.
      Today, many churches are turning it into concerts instead of praise. Smoke machines, etc.
      Bible also told us the Savage is the last day of the week. How many churches do this? Almost none. This is the first false teaching.

    Does this church use multiple cups? Does this church have a divided service? If yes, on either your in name only.
    Those that still call themselves Churches of Christ and use multiple cups are an offshoot based off of fear during the Spanish Flu not because multiple cups are correct doctrine.
    The New Testament makes it clear on cup of the fruit of the vine and one loaf of unleavened bread was used not multiple.
    Luke 22:17-20 KJV
    [17] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: [18] for I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. [19] And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. [20] Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.
    Also, having a service split up is also not biblical. Are they getting the same five items of worship in the seperate service? Is a seperate service biblical? No.
