I think some people forget that Sumetal has been performing for at least 16 years. She may be 25 but most performers are in their 30s and even 40s before they have her experience. Baby Metal have been at it for a decade. Lots of practice and excellent people around them makes all the difference. Hope they make it to America again soon. They opened my eyes to metal and as a 60 plus person I am glad they did. Now I have to get my old buddies to give it a chance
Thanks again from Japan. I am a 67-yo Japanese retired guy. At BABYMETAL concerts, you can find many people who are apparently older than me. (And infants, too) The only problem with BM concert with aged audience is a sore shoulder in the morning after. It is very hard to keep swinging towel above your head for 4 minutes all along to this song. It is amazingly fun, though 🤣
🤘 I went to the concert in the video and I saw an old couple (probably 70's) on the train wearing matching Babymetal t-shirts on the way to the concert. It was great!
hey I'm from Thailand F.hero he thai rapper popular and i can't believe he sings so fast and my first reaction yes so high energy performance i so so excited 🔥🔥🔥💯 This is a very good mix of music, I love it.
@@armromza8899 Hi! Thai fan! F. Hero came all the way to Japan for the world premiere of this song and he had been very nervous to perform at a huge arena in foreign country. At the actual show, Su-Metal shouted "Come on F. Hero!" to summon him and she screamed "Thank you F. Hero!" at the end of this song. Then the three girls bowed deeply towards him to show their respect. That scene makes me happy.
Great Reaction! Koba, the producer of BABYMETAL, has long worked with metal bands mainly on independent labels at the record company he joined upon graduation from college. He spent more than a decade of hardship there, but eventually the metal division was discontinued because it was unprofitable. He had been a diehard metal fan since his school days and refused to switch to trendy music. The company that hired him could not unilaterally fire him under Japanese law, so they placed him in a small kids' talent department. If you don't like it, quit on your own. But he took his job seriously, focusing on children's food and working with the local government to educate children about proper diet (shoku-iku) through music. It was not glamorous at all, a humble job, but he took it seriously. But then he discovers a girl with a unique talent. She had a strong, penetrating voice that could make any song deviate from the norm. She was BABYMETAL's lead vocalist, Suzuka Nakamoto. Everything started from there. The song was about how to make "Soltam," a typical Thai salad with papaya, and was rapped in Thai by F.HIRO, another famous Thai rapper. He raps that the more you pound the ingredient, green papaya, the tastier it gets. It's just like life. F.HIRO was also beaten up a lot by his fans when he participated in the collaboration for this song. But the result was a worldwide hit. babymetal has always been like this. Even now, they are still being beaten up. But they are getting bigger every day because of it.
I definitely agree that BabyMetal is not a band to judge based off of just one song. If I was going to recommend a song to react to, it'd be Rondo of Nightmare live from the Budokan show. It really showcases the skill of the band and of Su-Metal!!!
Great reaction. This was filmed in Yokohama on the second night at the start of their 2019 tour. F Hero is a rapper from Thailand, he flew in to Japan specially to perform on for those first two nights. He got a lot of grief online from idiots saying he "wasn't worthy" to play with BABYMETAL (whatever happened to the idea of 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai'?) and even thought of pulling out and having his part taken out of the song altogether, but on the night he got a great reception. He has said that he was so nervous that he went and threw up after coming off stage. As this was the official video it had the studio audio, there is compilation video mostly of this performance with the live audio (it is even better), so part of what you missed here was Su-metal calling out to welcome F Hero to the stage. This is definitely a feel good party song ... 'PA PA YA' is a summer festival (matsuri-da I think they say - something like that) song - about a spicy green papaya fruit salad. F Hero was rapping in Thai to the same rhythm as mixing the ingredients for the salad with a mortar and pestle. They are pretty much saying that, much like the salad, mixing the right spices into life will make that better too. The third girl in this video was one of three dancers brought in to take turns filling the third spot in the choreo after Yui left the band in October 2018. This was Kano's very first show with BABYMETAL - she was still only 14 years old. If you see BABYMETAL live remember to take a towel (or buy one from the merch stand) to swing around your head for this song. Seeing everybody doing that makes Su and Moa happy ... and we all want them to be happy all the time. 🦊 You are absolutely right about how tiring going to watch them is - at the end you walk out sweating and exhausted, but you will have the biggest, most stupid grin on your face. 😁
The live version is even better. Just sayin' -- if you want that authentic BABYMETAL experience, you need to check out the live versions. The Gimme Chocolate video was the album track over a live performance. This is the same thing.
Papaya... As in the fruit. This is a song about summer festivals. Just you wait until you hear "Road of Resistance - live in Japan". That guest would have to swallow his words that "Babymetal wouldn't go to his playlist"... That video of Road of Resistance is the quintessential Babymetal. It's what makes them what they are, distilled and condensed in 8 minutes of pure dopamine. 🤘🏻🦊🤘🏻
Another live show with AMAZING energy and stage presence is their live Headbangeerrrrr!!!!!! "moametal" version where it was around Moa's 20th birthday! The crowd was literally bowing down and they did a circle of death! I also recommend megitsune from budokan 2021, and akatsuki at budokan! Also ANYTHING live with a kami band intro is amazing
Welcome back to the Babymetal Foxhole. "PA PA YA" is from Babymetal third album METAL GALAXY. Papaya is a tropical fruit available anywhere in Asia especially in the region of South East Asia. "PA PA YA!!" is a dance song with an underlying massage of striving for personal excellence, collaboration with a very well known Thailand rapper from Chiang Rai name Natthawut Srimok nickname Golf but known popularly by his stage name F.HERO (Fukking Hero) and specialise in the Hip-Hop and Rap genre. Some remarks in Thai lyric translation part: Molam= Thai-Isan local music "Papaya -Pok-Pok= Thai pun phrase means Som-Tam, Thai food made up from papaya-chopped mix up with chilli, tomato, garlic, palm sugar, lots of vegetable and others depends on varies area. "Som-Tam" also have the same meaning with "Hanaka"= Thai old snack, slang word means like "sugoi" in Japanese. Great reaction. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.
You talked about it being highly produced. Well, one of their choreographers worked on the 2016 Tokyo Olympics closing ceremony. So, they have one of the best in the business on board.
Okay so far every babymetal video you have reacted to has had studio audio in it. So I really hope that next time you do a babymetal reaction you would react to a video with actual live audio. I would recommend Headbanger from legend 1997 concert. Or Road of Resistance (live in Japan) videos. Kitsunes up🦊
_Matsuri da!_ 🦊🤘🍠 Welcome back to the Foxhole. Nice job to keep spreading the Fox God word and always is a pleasure to hear wise man with musical production knowledge talking about BabyMetal. Babymetal never have afraid of trying something new. In this case they are mixing thai rap with BabyMetal unique sound, although this is audio album track over a live performance video. Of course with the Kami Band playing behind this song is even better. Since BMRR channel doesn't got that one, you can find a decent live compilation version at "who?" channel if you want to listen this again with live sound. This is a party festival summer song (Matsuri da), especially for season like this in Japan nowadays, they're actually singing about papaya salad and mixing with other things as an allegory of life to enjoy mixing different stuff, in this case the thai and japanese culture. Papaya is a fruit. F.Hero is a thai rapper and he rap about that in his part. Waving your towel while dancing and singing is a must and the girls love that. This song belongs to 3rd album but this one as well many more songs are exploring a different Babymetal side, sometimes more mature, but trying to not lose their fun. This one belongs to the Light Side disc of that concept álbum. The footage of this was took from BABYMETAL AWAKENS: The Sun Also Rises 2019 in Yokohama Arena Japan, F.Hero was invited for this, the night before he was really in panic with the amount of people and even throwing out after the show, It ain't easy to face that crowd, especially after receiving some negative critics from BM fans who didn't like his participation on this, fortunately he felt good and received a warming welcome. Also that night introducing the _avengers_ system, a group of three backup dancers filling the third spot that YuiMetal left (she leaves the group in 2018). They rotate so not always you'll see the same one on stage, usually the live official MV is with Kano Fujihira, she started this when having 14 years old, so young like our girls back in their early days. None of them have mic or sing and aren't official members, they just dance. Next recommendation for your friends following with Metal Galaxy era: - "Kagerou" with the Kami Band intro live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, you can find this at BMRR, or... - "Distortion" live at Download Festival 2018. Funny thing you talked about listen BM in a car while someone next to you is watching you, it reminds a short video with certain actor from a movie that received a CD recommendation about listen metal music and then going to his car and listen that CD with BM must while people from car just right next to him is lifting the window lmao😆🤘 Btw nice Star Trek sweater. Thanks for coming back and see you next time with more BM songs.🦊🤘🔥
Good reaction and well done introducing Babymetal to different people. There is no denying they do mix pop in with the metal (and other genres), but unlike the Spice Girls where a formula was used with an identified and pre-determined audience almost guaranteed to sell records and they found 5 girls to fill the preordained spots, Babymetal was formed entirely around the talents of the 3 girls, in particular the lead vocalist Su-metal. There was no known audience for what they were going to do and the agency provided no extra budget above what they were providing for the parent Idol group - none of which was set aside for Babymetal. Where the Spice Girls' label provided all the money and support they needed in order that they would succeed, Babymetal's agency thought the producer was mad, that anything related to or involving metal would simply not work and that this would be a short lived and failed experiment. They allowed him his pet project only because there was no financial risk to the agency ... mainly because they provided no extra money to get it started.
They do have a Polka, BTW. He is right the producer formed the band around the singer after he saw her perform when she was around 10 years old in a previous band. BabyMetal is her 4th band at age 12, she did start out doing Anime music. Then hired an A++ band to back them (Kami(God) Band) and the agency Amuse has an army of people to help create the stages and lighting. Everything is top quality, and the producer doesn't go cheap an anything. Do BABYMETAL- HEADBANGER LIVE LEGEND 1997
They’re playing at a metal festival in Virginia this coming September. Sharing a stage with people like Pantera, Corey Taylor, Megadeth, Etc… If that says anything about how big they’ve gotten
This stage set was shipped to Los Angeles for their only arena level show in the US at the LA Forum. It was a sell-out. The only other arena level show they performed outside of Japan was Wembley Arena, London. They were the first Japanese Band to perform at Wembley Arena.
it has already been explained down below so I will add only Babymetal could make a metal song about a fruit papaya lol which hey their other song Give me Chocolate if you put them together haha
I loved 🥰 this because I’m older and I admire this group for creating an explosive genre. I laughed during the reaction because it’s so fun. I’ve listened to F. HERO with other THAI 🇹🇭 artists and it’s very different but GREAT.
Great reaction and you both looked like you had fun , but instead of them starting in a garage how about a small part of a bigger Idol( pop) group the brain child of a producer who is a lifelong Metal Fan . Based on the talent and incredible stage presence of the lead singer . The big company did not think it would work , but through the talent of the 3 young girls it succeeded from playing food halls at festivals and small venues to what you see now and are even better sounding live and as you said an experience to be there . No messing about in studio or with mv with sound or making performance look better . Seen many a garage band who became successful but on seeing them live are no where near as good as there album or mv . Check out more you will see how great they are . 😁🤘🦊🤘
Yeah! they took chances at stages always. their dedication do not stop. In the eastern sky, a bright red beacon shines A new guide to mark the end of the dark loneliness Even in despair, light the flames of your heart as many times as it takes Now is the time! Is the time!
my friend, know this is just the tip of the iceberg you are seeing ... our amazing girls have so much more to offer .... we fans love BabyMetals ... Suzuka Moa and Yui are our life , our vital blood .... We cannot live without them .... I recommend you to see Road Of Resistence and Rondo Of Nightmare .... Discover the real fox's lair ... But only the fox god knows
⚡ 💕 / 🌶 🌞 This is a Summer festival party song. Matsuri Da! (It's a festival!) I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand. His rap was all in Thai. The lyrics in the rap section use papaya salad as a metaphor for life. It's spicy and sweet, but you have to crush the spices in a mortar to bring out the flavor. : ) BABYMETAL's producer Koba went to Thailand to record F.HERO's track for 'PA PA YA!!'. He suggested adding accents in Morlum, the Thai folk song genre, and Koba liked the idea. They got a Thai producer named Thitiwat Rongthong to help with the traditional instruments. Generally speaking, I think 'Karate' is a better introductory song for BABYMETAL, although 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai' (from Sonisphere UK 2014) that someone else mentioned is also a great suggestion.
Do you think people in general from within the industry would do better with certain BM songs to start with? We've seen the usually Gimme Chocolate WTF videos, or BxMxC, or Road of Resistance, or Headbanger first timers, even BM Death. You mentioned Karate or IDZ at Sonisphere. Are there others? I mean, what would happen if his first BM song was Oh! Majinai as an example? I just plucked a song out of the air.
@@Codametal I've run into quite a few people on social media whose introduction to BABYMETAL was the official music video for 'Gimme Chocolate!!', and who were kind of put off by it. Fortunately many of them happened to run into a song like 'Karate' or 'Road of Resistance' a few years later, and that totally changed their mind about the group. I could see something similar happening with 'Oh! MAJINAI', although you might get the attention of some Sabaton fans.
@@rickwagner- I was one of those people years ago, but the song that turned me off I think was Onedari Daisakusen. To my eternal regret, it was probably 2-3 years later before I 'rediscovered' who they really are and tried not to kick myself on a daily basis for waiting so long. I didn't give them the 3 song trial and I will never forget it. It was Road of Resistance that instantly clinched it. Now I try to make up for lost time listening/watching to them every day (3 years running now), and going through all of the SG stuff. Heck, maybe just show them Doki Doki Morning debut at 2010 SG Festival.
You need to react to more live Babymetal. I also suggest the song ine or Line (pronounced eenay). See the music video of that one to get your mind blown.
When I saw it was ‘Pa Pa Ya’, I wanted to check the comments before seeing the video. They were pretty much what I feared 😀 Gutsy/optimistic move introducing BM to someone with this song, I’ll give ya that. 😉
I don't know these songs either. People say do live. I pull up live searches and that is what I chose. I had no idea that fans would not want that song heard by us. It is interesting. I am glad you guys are giving me suggestions. I would not have a clue otherwise.
@@oldguyreactions it's not that they don't want you to hear the song or like this song it's that you're starting in the middle of the story you should start from the beginning the first album the second album work your way up this song is from the third album and recently they're coming out with a fourth but to really get the Babymetal fix you got to start from the earlier days and work your way up
@@MikeDPlxztc One cannot know that they would need to start from the beginning. I got multiple people that said..."do Baby Metal". I listened to a song and then everyone said that I need to do live. Now I hearing that I need to start from the beginning. So, I will start from there. I appreciate you Mike for letting me know. An old guy like me just flounders in new music ignorance.
So basically: - He didn't liked it - He compared the girls to the Spice Girls. Okay, I will take this as an offense. - He said it's "heavily produced" i.e. manufactured by a company... you know, the classic speech. - He said he wouldn't add it to his playlist or go to their concerts. That's okay. Probably not the best song to get introduced to BABYMETAL, and the studio audio doesn't help either. You should try something more simple like "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at the Sonisphere 2014. No over-production, just the Kami Band and the girls. Clean, powerful, metal.
Yeah, even though I was an early fan of the Spice Girls, comparing them to BM is just...wrong. NONE of the Spice Girls can sing or have the background as Su-metal (or ever will). Spice Girls represented girl power. No one has more presence than Su-metal performing on stage. It is often said, Suzuka Nakamota may be 5'2". But Su-metal is 10' tall. Someone hard to ignore. I think he got a preconceived notion when he immediately pigeon-holed them as a 'manufactured' ban. Yeah, he sounds like 'one of those'. But who knows, manufactured or not, if the music itself because ever song is different. He'll eventually find a song that may interest him once he gets passed what he thinks he knows about the band. Maybe it's a marketing strategy on Amuse's plan to hit every single genre in existence, but what better way to expand your portfolio than to actually make those songs sound good regardless of genre? No other band can hit a wider market of genres as BM, they've got something for everyone. Kind of like...Amazon. 8-)
Guys, guys...we are old guys. Don't think of us as knowing anything in todays music. We are clueless. The guest is a retired professional musician and has worked with sound. But he is old school. He said it was heavily produced. As in, not garage band type of material put together by the 3 singers. The spice girls was a reference to having 3 girl pop singers singing. Not a comparison to sound or singing voices. It takes a large amount of people to put on the type of video we saw in his opinion. He is from old school music...70's. So this is very different for what he is used to. That is what is interesting with "old guy reactions". We have no clue. don't be offended by us discussing it. We thought it was awesome.
@@oldguyreactions I'm probably older than you, so... And as much I remember I believe the Spice Girls were 5. 🤣 I was just summarizing the facts I saw. Sometimes, the production distracts from the actual performance and I believe that sometimes, less is better to better appreciate their performances. We don't hide that they started inside a company (actually a talent agency) BUT it was the (crazy) idea of one man, one of their producers. Apparently, no one believed in this idea so they didn't get any extra budget to start with. So they only had their enthusiasm and the opportunity. Su-metal was chosen specifically as a main vocalist because of her strong vocals despite her young age. And Yui and Moa were chosen on purpose due their similar appearance and their compatible voices with Su. There is footage from their very first live performance in 2010 and what you see here (2019) is not even comparable. They earned every single piece of everything they add in between.
@@oldguyreactions Here is BM debut at the Sakura Gakuin Festival concert in 2010 with zero budget for the subunit (the other subunits similear to clubs, had at least a modest budget to have dedicated costumes). All of their clothes are borrowed, and Moametal even started her choreo early by mistake. th-cam.com/video/C-r4bajuu9Y/w-d-xo.html. Su-metal was almost 13, Yuimetal and Moametal were both about 11.
I'm down to Road of Resistance or Headbanger LIVE next, Babymetal is crazily good for their live performance that as you see right there they can just take their live shots and made official music video. But this one is not Live audio so you havent heard Su vocal without all those effects, she's so clean to sing and dance like that whole concert
J-Pop, Metal and Rap with lyrics in Japanese, English, and Thai. It can only be Babymetal. Yes, it is produced but at an extraordinary level of skill and thought.
As to your comment about them being possibly a “corporate” or manufactured band….uh no. They actually started with no money. The band was created around the talent of lead vocalist Suzuka Nakamoto. A music producer saw her perform at age 10 and was so impressed by her vocal ability and stage presence at such a young age he realized that she could make his vision a reality. Koba Kobayashi (the music producer) was a heavy metal fan who wanted to inject life into what he considered to be a stale and aging genre. He believed that Suzuka’s vocals and stage presence were such that she could front a metal band so he took her and Suzuka’s two classmates at Sakura Gakuin Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno and fused pop, choreography and metal together. Because it was a passion project with no funding they played strip malls and small venues (they did not have enough money to hire a real band so they had friends dressed up as skeletons pretending to play music to a pre-recorded backtrack). The girls even had to borrow clothes from friends for the shows. Their popularity grew and by 2012 (they started in 2010 when Suzuka was 11 years of age and Moa and Yui were only 10) things began to happen. The girls paid their dues. They and Koba were under contract with the largest talent agency Amuse and once the agency saw the potential they gave Koba the go ahead to hire the most talented session musicians that Japan had to offer and they became the backing tour band (called The Kami Band) for BabyMetal. BabyMetal is respected by and have either performed or collaborated with legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Judas Priest, Korn, Guns and Roses, Rob Zombie, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. They have over 50 LIVE song/performances and every one is different. They are fearless exploring other music genres. If you choose to react to more I recommend Road of Resistance Live in Japan or Headbanger LIVE as your next reaction. A word of advice: Stay away from LIVE performances at Glastonbury as the BBC did a disastrous job with sound production (mics not turned on and poor quality sound) Good luck.
Thank you for that information. Super cool. I believe the guest was referring to the production being a large production that had the large corporate feel. There are some bands that are raw in their performances. Just getting up on stage and grinding it out. This video felt like every second was planned out. Anyway...I do love the information you gave. It really helps us understand where they came from.
Producer is Kei (or Key) Kobayashi as written in romaji, with family name (surname) first. At the start, October 2010, Su- was age 12 (two months from 13) and Yui and Moa were 11. Not classmates, fellow members. Sakura Gakuin was not a school but an Idol Group created by Amuse for developing talent.
@@oldguyreactions you are right about everything being planned out to the letter. I understand that some world not like that. I wouldn't like it in nearly any other case but Babymetal is a theatrical performance with choreographed dancing. There has to be some level of organization in what they do. I saw Rammstein a couple weeks ago and noticed they are the same way. They have the exact same movements, mannerisms and facial expressions in each concert. Who cares?! It's musical theater.
Nice reaction brother 🤘🦊🤘.I like when people understand music and production. Most musicians and astute music fans understand genres/styles can be mixed to create something new. It's been happening a long time. Personally I think in the western world 'highly produced' is now kind of a bad word... people think corporate/ fake/sellout and so on. It's not like that for most Japanese, doing the best you can and working together is not widely considered to be a negative.
Well he did say "highly produced" is not a bad thing. It could be bad or could be good. So he did not say it was bad. I asked him what he meant by that and I think he meant that it took a ton of people to produce what we saw. It wasn't garage bandy.
@@oldguyreactions Sorry wasn't critizing or implying he said something bad or wrong. It's fun watching genuine reactions of Babymetal first time listeners. Keep on rocking bro 🤘
@@oldguyreactions It may not have been started in a garage (In Japan, residences RARELY had any garages as not everyone owned a vehicle), but Babymetal started with zero budget. They had to hire actors to play instruments and borrow clothes for the first year or two until they brought in a bigger audience. They did play foodhalls, malls, even on the streets before they got to where they are. Watching Pa-Pa-Ya is the culmination of over 7 years of work, and two studio albums. Please forgive us for jumping the gun on criticizing too harshly on your guest. We've seen it many times when a new reacter sees a BM video and immediately passes judgement on 'what type of band' it is. We understand he is speaking from what he knows, and that's what he immediately sees. We've always respected that in a reacter because BM isn't for everyone. But his tone of immediately dismissing the band as a 'produced' band gives it a negative connotation when he doesn't actually know anything about the band. An immediate harsh critic will immediately get harsh criticism in return. You can tell by some of the responses that sometimes the One can be a bit protective of the girls as some of us have been following the girls ever since they were teenagers, some even as far back as since they were kids. I sincerely hope your guest follows the simple rule of thumb to listen to 3 songs of any band before passing final judgement. He should give some of their other songs a try. Like he said, not all produced bands are bad. Just because it is a produced band, doesn't mean the members worked any less than those who came out of garage. And if he knew how far the band has come since the beginning, fighting through a vast amount of adversity, the band is strong and now a driving force in the world today as the founder of kawaii metal. One piece of trivia, there are certain songs that only Su-metal sings solo, and some only Moametal and Yuimetal sings (Black Babymetal), and while one or the other is singing their setlist, the other is backstage doing homework. As they learned in their previous idol group Sakura Gakuin to adapt their focus immediately to do something else. The talent of Su-metal, the band, the production, the personalities of the girls and the bandmembers, the appreciation for each member of their audience, and the choreography, crowd control and participation, and all the practice so these three little girls can do what they love to do. And they absolutely love to perform for their fans. They always have, and they always will. They even had a song written in English specifically to thank the fans who has given them support, love and learned japanese just so they can sing with the girls. You probably won't find any other group like them anywhere, where everything you see on the stage and venue, it's all done for the fans. And Pa-Pa-Ya is only one song. That energy lasts for the entire concert. Not many performers can last that long. So I hope you bring him back, if he wishes to. It is still very interesting to hear different POV on BM. We are all fans, but are open to help people understand the girls, and gain a unique insight from people. I mean, there are billions of people in the world, right? Take care.
This is an official video, not a live performance, I thought I producer would spot that. 😂😂😂 They are much better live anyway, yes there are backing tracks, but most bands do that anyway. 🦊🦊🔥🦊🦊
Yes, he is a retired professional musician and has worked with sound. But he is old school. He did not say there were tracks. He said it was heavily produced. As in, not garage band type of material put together by the 3 singers. It takes a large amount of people to put on the type of video we saw. He is from old school music...70's. So this is very different for what he is used to. That is what is interesting with "old guy reactions". We have no clue.
I actually flew to Japan to see that exact concert! It was the only time the rapper F HERO performed the song live with BABYMETAL.. the rest of the tour, they showed the video of this concert. Of course, like everything, they planned to meet up again in Thailand.. but the pandemic shut that down... hopefully this will all come back soon. BABYMETAL has been on hiatus since early last year..
nice reaction! i will say something others have likely said: this might not be the best introduction to BABYMETAL. it's not a bad song by any stretch, but it doesn't give the best first impression either. 😅 i hope you continue your exploration!! also, another thing others have said: you haven't truly heard BABYMETAL until you've heard them live. their studio recordings are fine, but their live performances are a completely different beast. i'm only saying this bc it can't be overstated enough: the difference is ASTOUNDING.
@@oldguyreactions this particular video only uses the footage from a live concert, not the audio, so i understand the confusion. usually videos that actually use live audio are labeled "live at [venue]" or "live ProShot" if it uses footage from multiple shows. hope this helps! 😊
the range of babymetal is the crazy thing. yes they mix pop with metal and wanna bring women into metal thats their main goal but still their range is so big. i mean they started the band when they were like 11 years old and now 15 years later they bigger then ever and the first asian band to reach nr1 in billboard charts ever
Him being a band member, would've been more interesting to show him live performances of songs like Road to Resistance, or Synocapation, where the Kami band shines.
Nice reaction! I will just say to the new guy, it's never a good idea to judge Babymetal on just one song. You will understand what I mean if you choose to listen to more from them. They are definitely NOT the Spice Girls mixed with metal. Hopefully this isn't just a one off thing and he will check out more. Either way, I'm glad you both enjoyed it.
Totally...I do think baby metal is something where people have to accept the concept of pop and metal. Every person I introduce to Baby Metal laugh in amazement the first time. It is kind of hard for them to process it in their brains. I'm even still trying to process it in my brain. It is so unique. But, I love it!
you should have watched other, more serious and complex songs with this person. The incredibly complex piece in the progressive metal Tales Of Destinies would be best suited for this role. She would impress him (as a professional) and you a lot more pop track PA PA YA
ADDED; You need to introduce your Buddy to a couple of Rock bands from Japan. Since they are performing in the US next month, start with these 2 - Band Maid, "Freedom" and "Domination". Nemophila, "Monsters" and "Ray of Light". Just have your self belts on!!
The initial thought about anime watchers being fans is very correct. Especially when they collabed with BMTH for KingSlayer, a lot of people were saying it sounded like an anime opening. Honestly, waiting for the day they show up in an anime or video game 💀💕
Yes! Su has been professionally singing since she was 6!
So true, i leave a BABYMETAL concerts and have to sleep for three days.
Belgian fan here! This band is just amazing!
Good to see George Lucas sharing his love for Metal.
2:20 on the right you can clearly see a fellow BABYMETAL enjoyer. You just can't listen this song without smiling
You are absolutely right about how tiring going to watch them is - at the end you walk out sweating and exhausted, but you will have the biggest, most stupid grin on your face.

F.HERO. Rapper. From. Thailand. ❤️❤️❤️🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
Some remarks in Thai lyric translation part:
Molam= Thai-Isan local music
"Papaya -Pok-Pok= Thai pun phrase means Som-Tam, Thai food made up from papaya-chopped mix up with chilli, tomato, garlic, palm sugar, lots of vegetable and others depends on varies area. "Som-Tam" also have the same meaning with "Hanaka"= Thai old snack, slang word means like "sugoi" in Japanese. Great reaction. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.
Having a bit of Thai under my belt, I enjoted trying to follow F.Hero's lyrics. Which left me with a hunger for a dish of som tam 🙃
Kitsunes up🦊
I was there with my towel...such a good time
They have a lyric track to this, the song is about a Festival, Simple just dance and have fun
_Matsuri da!_ 🦊🤘🍠
Welcome back to the Foxhole.
Next recommendation for your friends following with Metal Galaxy era:
- "Kagerou" with the Kami Band intro live at Legend Metal Galaxy 2020, you can find this at BMRR, or...
- "Distortion" live at Download Festival 2018.
Funny thing you talked about listen BM in a car while someone next to you is watching you, it reminds a short video with certain actor from a movie that received a CD recommendation about listen metal music and then going to his car and listen that CD with BM must while people from car just right next to him is lifting the window lmao😆🤘

@@oldguyreactions Much appreciated, sorry i edited my comment just to add that i like your guest sweater. Thanks anyway 🙂🤘
You need to check their new collaboration - Leave it all behind. It’s Epic!
The ultimate summer party song! 😀

This is a Summer festival party song. Matsuri Da! (It's a festival!)
I wasn't aware of him before this collaboration, but F.HERO is a well known rapper in Thailand.
His rap was all in Thai.
The lyrics in the rap section use papaya salad as a metaphor for life.
It's spicy and sweet, but you have to crush the spices in a mortar to bring out the flavor. : )
BABYMETAL's producer Koba went to Thailand to record F.HERO's track for 'PA PA YA!!'.

Gutsy/optimistic move introducing BM to someone with this song, I’ll give ya that.
I thought the man to the right was Glenn Jacobs 😂
So basically:
- He didn't liked it
- He compared the girls to the Spice Girls.
I was just summarizing the facts I saw.
The bands in Korea are not just overproduced, those people are handselected. And they have to abide by Very strict rules.

What you guys say might be true, tho I don't like a "genre" of music, I like good music, therefore I listen to BABYMETAL :)

If you choose to react to more I recommend
Road of Resistance Live in Japan or Headbanger LIVE as your next reaction.
A word of advice: Stay away from LIVE performances at Glastonbury as the BBC did a disastrous job with sound production (mics not turned on and poor quality sound)
Good luck.
Understood! Until next time.
Take care.

What is his name?
@@oldguyreactions My uncle Henry
I am thoroughly enjoying these videos.
i need more
I would like to see his playlist
Please react to Headbanger from Babymetal!! Is a great song

F.HERO x BODYSLAM x BABYMETAL - LEAVE IT ALL BEHIND [Official MV]th-cam.com/video/7rdc-QV6P6s/w-d-xo.html
Try Band Maid, Dice,Thrill, Freedom live
I actually flew to Japan to see that exact concert! It was the only time the rapper F HERO performed the song live with BABYMETAL.. the rest of the tour, they showed the video of this concert. Of course, like everything, they planned to meet up again in Thailand.. but the pandemic shut that down... hopefully this will all come back soon. BABYMETAL has been on hiatus since early last year..
Kitsune-Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😁😁😁🤘🤘🤘
nice reaction! i will say something others have likely said: this might not be the best introduction to BABYMETAL. it's not a bad song by any stretch, but it doesn't give the best first impression either.
I pull up the live videos and everyone tells me they are not live. So I am confused as to which ones are actually live.
@@oldguyreactions this particular video only uses the footage from a live concert, not the audio, so i understand the confusion.
usually videos that actually use live audio are labeled "live at [venue]" or "live ProShot" if it uses footage from multiple shows. hope this helps! 😊
To you he might be an old guy but to me he's bloody beautiful.
He single? lol
This song is about papaya salad. Take a look at BxMxC
the range of babymetal is the crazy thing. yes they mix pop with metal and wanna bring women into metal thats their main goal but still their range is so big.
i mean they started the band when they were like 11 years old and now 15 years later they bigger then ever and the first asian band to reach nr1 in billboard charts ever
react to BABYMETAL - METAL KINGDOM (OFFICIAL)
Him being a band member, would've been more interesting to show him live performances of songs like Road to Resistance, or Synocapation, where the Kami band shines.
Yeaaaah babymetal
Can you react to Frank Ocean?

It's one of their normal songs.
Hahaha the others are even crazier.
Rap with metal, you say? Might I introduce you to BxMxC?
You need to see live at Sonisphere to appreciate Babymetal.
Excellent!
you should have watched other, more serious and complex songs with this person. The incredibly complex piece in the progressive metal Tales Of Destinies would be best suited for this role. She would impress him (as a professional) and you a lot more pop track PA PA YA
Grampa hates it.
More Reactions to BABYMETAL Please, every song IS DIFFERENT
ADDED; You need to introduce your Buddy to a couple of Rock bands from Japan. Since they are performing in the US next month, start with these 2 - Band Maid, "Freedom" and "Domination". Nemophila, "Monsters" and "Ray of Light". Just have your self belts on!!
Wait till yall hear Iine🤣🤣 that's iine not Line.
please react to babymetal road of resistnce live in japan , cool reaction.
Great reaction, Baby Metal is a very talented band/production....and while I do like heavy metal, I still have many Baby Metal songs on playlists.
The initial thought about anime watchers being fans is very correct. Especially when they collabed with BMTH for KingSlayer, a lot of people were saying it sounded like an anime opening. Honestly, waiting for the day they show up in an anime or video game 💀💕
I'm looking forward to it again. thank you
😆🤘💕
Spice Girls??!!!!!! Pleeeeese!!! What an insult to Su!!!!
Love the green T-shirt "Best Apocalypse Ever"...what a great shirt
Got it from doomsdayLTD.com
I am glad Babymetal has got new funs.
Your guest looks like he belongs on the set of a Star Trek movie!
Check Karate!
As manufactured as the spice girls! There's men making lots of money off them, plastic metal pffffffft.
