  • Walk around and why you should always get a pre-buy and go look at your plane.

Came across your video because I'm in the process of buying an F33A, and looking for videos about it.
I agree with the need for a prebuy inspection. Aircraft I'm buying was undergoing annual inspection at the time I showed up. It was the first time that shop had done an annual on the aircraft, so I felt good about that, figuring they wouldn't be motivated to not look at stuff they had skipped in the past. It was signed off as airworthy. Asked if they had boroscoped the cylinders, was assured they had, and that all was fine. Flew with the owner to a mechanic my buyer's agent (well worth his fee... very happy with his service) has dealt with many times over his career (It flew beautifully... first time with my hands on controls od a Bonanza). My mechanic checked it and said, " No... there's two burnt / warped exhaust valves causing low compression in two cylinders... see the pictures of the characteristic discoloration you can see on the valves I took with my boroscope? You can hear the air escaping through the exhaust when doing the compression checks , which means those otherwise acceptabe compression numbers are UNACCEPTABLE." So seller is paying to have that fixed before sale goes through.
Also makes me feel reassured when I hear my mechanic that the airplane is otherwise in very good shape.
Prebuys using an independent, knowledgable mechanic rule!

Im working not as a air plane mechanic...lol far cry from what I was doing but I may work to get my license. I just completed my own annual and though I did it myself at the shop it was quite expensive. But I know the plane is now right for sure. I haven't had time to fly lately and im now back trying to.fly ever Tuesday for sure. Just boring holes in the sky you might say but I want to get use to my g5s. I have had two other planes, 182 and a mooney rocket. This plane Flys better than the others only because of comfort and ease of landing. The 182 had great weight hauling capabilities, the mooney was fast but weight limits were hard to deal with. I have the 5th seat for the beech but I took it out. I put a 3 blade prop on it and the take off is better. New mags, set me back somewhat. But I have pushed on and glad I have it im going to work on some more video's as work permits so keep and eye out. Thanks and welcome to the F 33 club lol.

@@michaelgilley5148 Had a chance at a GREAT deal on a fully upgraded Mooney. Like an idiot, I dithered until it was gone.... just because I would have to fly with my head tilted over toward my right shoulder at a 45 degree angle, and risk a broken neck in turbulence.....

Old style VOR loop antenna that is no longer needed. Most people went to the small blades on either side or eliminated it altogether. Later they went to the large forward V shaped combo [VOR LOV GS] antenna near the windshield. Gilley's in Pasadena with the mechanical bulls, as in Mickey? Was he your dad?

I had a 48 a35 for 7 years that my dad owned for 27 years. He also had a K model and now we partner on a cuby. Love the bonanza line, all really good traveling airplanes.

Got a brand new A36 from beech facyory in 1975 Brown and Orange with same interior only brown twead inserts. My Dad met your Dad at the airport long ago he had a King Air 100 series. Mr Giley was very nice and sorry to hear og his passing. My Dad also passed in 2015. Thank you for sharing this.

You’re gonna love flying the Bonanza. We have an F33A based up north of you at CXO. It’s a really comfortable cross country machine. Enjoy!

I have N923T, 1960 Debonair. You’re right, not much out there on the straight tail. I also have a GFC500 and dual G5’s. That’s an awesome setup in that airplane!

Isn’t the F33 a debonair, not a bonanza? Excellent video and storytelling!

They are of the same family however the Debonair name was dropped in 1967. Renamed E33, F33, And G33 during these yrs the model numbers ended in "A" all had the 285 hp continental. My F33A is a 1972 model.
